@roman - I think that if the Map is list in the Maps folder, you just add the Hero to the list under the folder. But really, I've never tried it so i don't know.

Yes, but maps edited in the editor don't seem to appear in the Maps folder of the data archive file, so I cannot change their .xdb files...

You can. All maps are in .h5m format and this is renamed .zip archive, just like the .pak and the .h5u files. You can use winrar to open and edit them, save and use them in the Map folder (The Map folder in your game directory, not the one in the data.pak file, it in "Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Maps").

[REQ]={RES]={WIP}

This really belongs into its own thread but you guys dont have 'feedback' here so ill put it here:
What could be intersting is to add the request realise and work in prograss system
for say i a person who couldnt do any mods at all due to 3000 problams
will ask in a req thread to make me eh,lets say new mod creatuer or town, and the the mods should repay the man who did with qp's for something.
this way even if someone has NO abilitys and cannot mod due to technichalitys will have the creatures HE wants to.

If you have a request you can just add [Request] prefix in the threads name, that's what most of us do Maybe I should add something like list of prefixes in Newcomers guide

Like "[Request] Green ghosts"

since I'm experimenting with creating effects, what are the names of the bones you can write between <GlueToNamedBone> and </GlueToNamedBone> ?

what are the position of the x, y and z axis on the battlefield?
(and what is "w"?)

This might sound like a really stupid question, but do any of you know why I am unable to extract anything out of the .rar data file? I want to try and get some .dds files out of there so I can have a go with some possible editing of the creatures, but for some reason it just says that the .rar file is corrupt and there is nothing in there (when there quite clearly is). Have any of you experienced this before and do you know how it can be fixed?

It's not .rar, but .pak (basicaly renamed .zip), try to update your WinRaR to it's latest version.

Alright, I'll update it and then report back with the results.

EDIT: Thanks, it is working now. I am going to try and get into the modding community.

Thanks. I have had a look at some of the threads here, especially Gnoll_Mages about texturing. I will be sure to read all of these thoroughly just so I understand it all.

A quick question here: I was making a small MOD for my game, basically changing the Start Skills of a number of Heroes. As an odd side-effect, when I startet to play, suddenly I could recruit all campaign Heroes from start. This was the case for Haven even though I only modded Maeve (Maeve) and Ving (Irina) - thus, I did not tamper with any of the campaign Hero files for Haven. I did change a couple of Campaign Heroes for other factions, though - but can't see that should make a difference, as I had an old map for 1.x with basically the same structure but without this happening. Any clues?

P.S: I have not applied any mod to allow all Heroes in game as I don't want the campaign Heroes in regular game.

Weird... I played a lot with hero's skills, but this never happend to me, you edited the map? Maybe you should upload it here, I can't see a reason for this to happen if you only edited/changed the skills in the hero files. Or at least it can't come to my mind at the moment

It doesn't seem that your problems are caused by this mod.  Nothing in the files has anything to do with editing the campaign heroes' selectability.

However, the date on some of your files and folders in there is set at 2006.  This shouldn't affect the selectability to scenario heroes, but it will stop some of the files from overriding the normal ones.  So try updating all files and folders in there, see if it fixes anything (it probably won't).

On a pedantic note, why spell it "MOD"?  It's not an abbreviation

The two files with the old dates were from the old MOD - and as for the spelling, I think it's just a matter of habbit. Also, it's a way of distinguishing the word MOD (game modification) from Mod (forum moderator).

Anyway, realize problem only occurs on Fiur's maps - didn't remember it to be like that, but apparantly it's from the maps not the mod - sorry for the inconvenience.
