Rename main creature file to GameMechanics/Creature/Creatures/Neutrals/Creature_XXX.xdb (Replace XXX with number you need).

And you should change another files like camera and MapObject files to make it work properly. Good luck.

I say that as nothing :
the texture in black and white results of a wrong information in the material file because, for example, the game cannot find the pathed texture file / texture linker file.

1. have huge problem with ncf creatures i can`t check it because my H5 editor won`t detect installed creatures   what i can do to enable mods in heroes editor
2.I downloaded vindie dual wielding mod its awesome but I wanna to change something in it (want to do this only for myself use) I mean animations
I want to change attack animation and replace it with swordsman special ability animation but i found a swordsman animations but i can`t find vindicator animations can someone tell me where is saved vidie anims or how to change itin other way plz

thanks lots of post sometime I getting lost here
but that not resolved my problem do these mods supports Hungary/Polish version or that is not important from what region is the game ?

hi,I have some problems on setting custom animation for creature on adventure map and voiding affecting other of my maps at the same tiem .
the way I do it is:
1.click on the "new" button on the Shared field of a creature's properties window and creat a  new file.
2.when the step 1 is done, the creatue will turn into peasant on the adv-map,so I click on the "..."button to do a further work.I choose  a model in the Model field and an animation in the AnimSet field but useless,still peasant on adv-map.
3.then I click on the Creature button and choose a creature(black dragon lets say)instead of CREATURE_UNKNOWN,the model will turn into a black dragon on the adv-map.
4.then I begin to change the animation but failed, actually , I found that the model on adv-map is only decided by  the Creature's field,the model works well even if the Model and AnimSet fields are empty.
5.If  I dont creat a new file in the Shared field then I can make a custom animation but as I said this will affect all the maps in my maps folder,so is there any solutions ?thanks

Hello,
it's been far too long since I modded h5. Now I have extremely basic texture-to-game question.

I've retextured (using PhotoShop CS3+Nvidia dds Format v8.23, settings: DXT3, generate mipmaps) for example Skeleton archers and packed the path Textures/creatures/Necropolis/SkeletonArcher with the modded file SkeletonArcher.tga.dds with WinRAR and changed this newborn package for example crap.rar -> crap.h5u.

Then I throw this piece of crap.h5u into UserMODs folder but the dear mr. skeleton-withabow looks like original.

Yes, I've read the tutorials here, but no luck. Here are some guestions that, in my consider, might reveal why the misrable failure of my truely awesome "mod" occurs? (a bit sarcastic today)

- Can there be more than one .h5u in UserMods at the same time?
- Is it possible that I need to save textures with settings other than DXT3?
- Do I need to add more files into .h5u than folder structure + tga.dds?
- I'm I just stupid? (please explain why)

@Edwin_Yang: The way I see it, you're modifying files like "MapObjects\Dungeon\Black_Dragon.(AdvMapMonsterShared).xdb"

But you should also modify files like "GameMechanics\CreatureVisual\Creatures\Dungeon\Black_Dragon.xdb", and edit the fields related to the model/animation of the creature.

Obviously you need to create new files every time you need to modify a file, to prevent modification of the entire game.

(btw, the CreatureVisual file is referenced in the <Visual> field of files like "GameMechanics\Creature\Creatures\Dungeon\Black_Dragon.xdb")

Yes, for textures like icons, etc.

Depends on the mod. For the one you want here you don't.

You're not stupid, but the problem is that it should be a .zip file not .rar

My gosh! the only thing I left out from the post was should I pack it into .rar or .zip, cause I tought it wont matter (= it will be altered into .h5u), and I'll just make fool of myself by asking.

Yeah, I know, typing a new name (or in this case, the extension) doesn't alter the content. So basically H5 could read .zips if programmed to recognize them. What I didn't know was that .rar and .zip differ so much from each other (well doh, they're totally different type of packages with some different abilities, I'm just running a bit slow today), that game won't read (at least properly) .rars renamed as .h5us.
Anyways, I'm very happy there were no bigger problems than this.
