I'm trying to change the appearance of a hero editing his properties; while the Archmagi LOD works fine, the Magi LOD (which I actually need) is all messed up (y'know, he looks like a gangly spider). Any ideas why...?

Off the top of my head, it sounds like skeleton / geometry issues, let me just open the editor...

Edit:
I don't get it, I try to change the model in the editor, nothing happens, I click reload map, still nothing, I close and reopen the editor, and ... the hero has vanished...

Okay it seems like it's impossible to edit hero models in the editor - yesno?

Can someone direct me to where all the music files are located? I'm guessing it's one of the two Sounds folders, but I have no idea where to start looking.

The music files are not in the data.pak, but in the music folder

Well you didn't really specify that you were doing it via the `mod editor`
So how do you edit a hero's appearance from within the editor, rather than editing the data files more directly?

I am editing the files within the editor by customizing the "shared" properties.

@Vlaad: that's what I was trying to do! But it did nothing. Turns out you have to change the ColourModels. Both the Magi work fine for me, so I don't really know what to suggest, perhaps you only changed a selection of the settings by accident, or you accidentally changed one of the skeleton and geometry of the model (check they match each other).

@DS: checking. Edit: works fine in the editor. Does it work in the editor for you?

Heh, I just put the mod in and it worked. Perhaps you have a more recent version of the texture files accidentally loose in a data folder.

@Ceph: are you sure? I thought all the ghosts looked different.

Could someone confirm for me that HoMM does not load from user mods any files within the "bin" folder ? (I'm trying to replace the TotE Tome of Light Magic file with the HoF one, cos I'm convinced they're different...)

Edit: well although they are different sizes, they may not be different, so my test may not have shown that HoMM probably doesn't replace bin files. This is because I had accidentally changed a texture without realising it (I'd changed it for another fiddle and it happened, since it was a general texture, to be used for the Tome as well).
