If you're saying that town numbers must be restricted to number of Magic schools then I think that this has to be the most disappointing thing I've heard in a long time. That means that there will never be a new town in an expansion merely because there is no new magic school for it to have?

3DO have left something out, new town or not. Maybe this thread shouldn't be about filling the gaps and talking about what is already known, it should be about the possibility that 3DO have some huuuge secret which they have kept from the public...

Allies...

That magicschool also shows the alignment of town which shows which are the allies of the town...so I don't find this thought so weird at all...

But maybe 3DO has no surprises at all...They haven't told everything but I think there isn't so big to hide...

Hi, all! Great thread, although the arguing between Camelguy and Hydra was starting to get on my nerves. My question is about the satyr (he looks so cool. My fav already!). I saw Djive's idea about three level three choices. If that proves to be true, I really hope the satyr is the third for Preserve. It would be a shame if such a wonderful creature would be a neutral, and hence rare in gameplay. But is it confirmed that the Satyr is a level 3? And is it claimed that it is a neutral?

Shae Trielle:
No, there would not be a new town unless the town is like the Stronghold, and does not have any magic. The towns which are currently here, all have neighbouring alignments. For the Asylum, Chaos magic which concentrates on direct damage, is a neighbour with Preserve’s nature magic, and Necropolis’ death magic. Filling In the Gaps is about figuring out the things about heroes IV that have been a bit mystifying and difficult to come to a conclusion with in the past.

Sha_Men:
I totally agree with your comments. If they had something big in store such as a new town, they would have told us. The possibility of all the neutrals, which stand now, and putting them into a castle together would be extremely slim. Yes, 3DO have not given out everything; that’s why we’re still talking about it now.

DonGio:
What was so nerve-racking about or argument? We weren’t attacking each other, really, we were just stating our opinions.
I’m pretty sure that the Satyr was destined for Preserve, but that was later dejected after an interview gave us clear fact that the Griffin was not going to join Haven, but Preserve in the Satyr slot. This forced the Satyr to be listed as a neutral, which would anger some fans like you. Djive’s idea; if I’m not mistaken, was just to see which neutrals were suitable for the level 3 slot, because there arppears to be too many neutrals.

Djive and I have been trying to figure out the creature picture of the icon just below the bandit icon on the side of the screen. I must compliment 3DO on their job. It really looks quite special. Here it is:

The Dragon golems have 750 hp, not 650. !
The only major advantage of the Black Dragon is not his health. He also does 150 - 300 damage. Now there`S an´advantage!

Well, I can finally see the gargoyle! I liked them in Heroes 1 and 2, in 3 they were really ugly, but here they really look great! Now, the cerberus on the pic in the 1st page looks like his legs couldn`t carry him.

And now more from that titan vs. dragon stuff... Maybe the chaos eard is something real great and the old BD doesn`t have so good special ability. Well, it probably wouldn`t balance the hp and damage anyway. Dragons are back. Like in Heroes 1.

Thats a nice very very long post but why do you feel the need to go into every last single detail of the game and work everything out i mean surely we dont gain anything by knowing it.

Im sure the manual will cover exactly how much speed orcs have and there hitpoints as well as there cost and ability.
I dont see the need to know since we cant see how it will play like just by having every single fact about the game.

Agreed..........and yet disagreed.

Well, this thread is to "filling in the gaps" for the long and painful waiting for h4 release.

The_Hydra: Thanks for your help. To me, that pic you were talking about looks like a simplified image of a venom spawn. And Satyrs are way cooler and way "more preservish" than griffins.

And you and camelguy *were* attacking eachother.

Yes, that is what apparently it has. Yes, but the point is it is too strong. The Black Dragon did not have a huge hit point total over creatures in Heroes1. Again, I must state that Maranthea clearly said there would be larger gap in strangth between levels, and smaller ones in levels. And If you take the HP gap between the Titan (600) and the Nightmare, an Asylum level 3 (180) you 420 HP difference. You then go and compare the Titan’s HP to the Black Dragon’s (1100) you get a startling 500 HP difference. That is why I don’t think the Black Dragon will have that many hit points, and as you pointed out, more damage, if there wasn’t some sort of ‘handicap’. And how effective could Chaos Ward be?

“Well, I can finally see the gargoyle! I liked them in Heroes 1 and 2, in 3 they were really ugly, but here they really look great! Now, the cerberus on the pic in the 1st page looks like his legs couldn`t carry him.”

Legs are one thing, but wings are another. They have 4 legs, and most likely be able to walk. (Are you suggesting they can’t walk?) Yes, the gargoyle looks quite good. Although, the Gargoyle is definitely not in the Necropolis.

“And now more from that titan vs. dragon stuff... Maybe the chaos eard is something real great and the old BD doesn`t have so good special ability. Well, it probably wouldn`t balance the hp and damage anyway. Dragons are back. Like in Heroes 1.”

Exactly right. The HP has to be changed to make a fair combat. Or else Asylum are going to kill everybody with their powerful creatures, high spellpower and great bonus structures.

Thunderknight:
“Well, this thread is to "filling in the gaps" for the long and painful waiting for h4 release”

Yes, very good thought there, Thunderknight. If we’re to get the best out of HoMM4, we must begin to learn the information first.

DonGio:

Always happy to. No. The Venom Spawn has already been seen in a smaller icon such as that. But I am pretty sure I have figured it out. I saw a closer picture of that creature, and I am pretty sure it had sort of tentacles at the back. And since in HoMM 3, the Beholders had one eye, I figured that it had to be the Beholder of HoMM4. Looks pretty good.
Yes, I agree that the Satyr would suit Preserve better than Griffins do, but they needed a flyer to fill in.

Offtopic: Bonuses applied

I waited for a while on this one, to see where the epic struggle between The Blue Camel and The Hydra (geez ..sounds like a WWF match) was going. Although they came close to an out an out argument, they kept it (for the most part) to a very intense debate. Even at its most heated, they were generally polite, but firm in their positions. Their discussion is NOT for the faint of heart, but I'm very happy to award bonuses here at last.

There may yet be more coming out of this thread. Watch this space for updates.
