Poll Question: Poll: Features for next Heroes game
FOR THE NEXT HEROES MIGHT AND MAGIC,
which in the list below sounds like the lousiest idea to bring an "EVOLUTION" to the game?

Real time battle, the rest sound awesome!
Quote: real time battle
I like this concept, but in a different game (Warriors of Might and Magic, Armies of Might and Magic, etc)
Quote: massive(realistic) units presentation in battle
Do you mean we would see all the creatures as they are, instead of a stack? I like the concept, but it should be optional, or in WoMM (see above)
Quote: simultaneous turn based battle
I like the concept, it would make battles faster and much more realistic, but it should also be an option.
Quote: up to 4 sides to engage in one combat
I would LOVE to see this in game, even in just one scripted event! Free for all or tag team, or even 3 weak ganging up on a mighty 1 would be excellent, esspecially with Simultaneous Turns in battle!
Quote: creatures upgrade from surviving combats
I don't like this idea, unless its the case where you have unupgraded and upgraded versions both in combat:
[Green Dragon:4][Battle Griffin:24][Griffin:12][Pixie:78]***
and after battle it becomes
[Green Dragon:4][Battle Griffin:30][Griffin:6][Pixie:78]
and only rarely. Alternatively it could be a good racial skill or a perk from a normal skill, or even a hero ability. Then again, if there is an XP system in place for combat (would LOVE that!) then creatures could upgrade when they get to enough XP.
Quote: a nomad faction that has and builds no town
Just do this with the Orcs. Its a good concept but there's already 2 factions in place for deserty nomadism (Academy and Orcs) so just combine it with something already extant please.
***Note the subtle hint about unit placement?

I'm kind of conservative so I don't really like most of those ideas. 4-way battle is the only one that sounds really interesting. Nomad faction may be ok, but not something I'd really like to see.

i would have to agree with daystar over the creatures upgrading due to winning battles... although, they could have ranks so they get a little boost with every rank they get (up to, say, 5?)
also, a nomad faction wouldn't be a bad idea... or at least a faction whose town could move around.

- real time battle
That's like breaking the entire Heroes of Might n Magic concept. Don't do it.
- massive(realistic) units presentation in battle
Could be cool but way too hard, we're talking 300+ peasants and the like
- simultaneous turn based battle
That could be... Nifty but very unpredictable.
- up to 4 sides to engage in one combat
Could be nice but, if it's one player's turn, there's no way he can attack two enemies simultaneously on the adventure map, let alone three. Unless you're talking VERY extreme and rare occasions.
- creatures upgrade from surviving combats
Kinda impossible if we're talking about stacks. Having only a few of them turn "upgraded" and appearing in a new army slot would sooner be agitating.
- a nomad faction that has and builds no town
I've always hated that idea If there ARE nomands, then there is NO way OR reason for them to wage war whatsoever. Travellers, traders... They aint warriors. Let alone they have no reason to fight over land.

my idea
make the battle more real like warcraft 3 the castle building is really great for me and the heroes should be fighting too like warcraft 3 and die unlike in homm5 if your army turns zero your hero will disappear for me its not a good idea but with a realistic battle homm will be a great game the graphics are great and the story funtastic the only bad thing for me is the unrealistic battle i know lots of people out there wants it too the hard core battle of creatures and heroes imagine how it looks it will be amazing goooshh!!

I've never played Warcraft, but if we change the Heroes of Might and Magic special features, the game will lose its uniqueness, and will be like many other existent games. Thus, people might prefer to play the other games and the game might 'fall'. We don't want it to happen, aren't we?
Quote: massive(realistic) units presentation in battle
I actually thought about that long time ago, and wrote a suggestion for it somewhere. I shall search for it and post it here...
Quote: up to 4 sides to engage in one combat
That can be very intresting, but I can't even think of a situation that it might actually happen. Maybe 3, when two enemy heroes are close, and a third side comes to attack one of them, then he'll have a small screen asking him if to attack one of the heroes or both of them (what will create a three-sides battle).
Of course that the battlefield should be larger for that feature, and maybe for a three-sides battle it should have a different shape.
Quote: creatures upgrade from surviving combats
Good, but only as an option.
Think that you had a great battle, and before it you had bought 30 Druids on your town. If the stack of Druids of your hero upgrades to Druid Elder, for example, you'll also have to upgrade the 30 Druids in your town.
Therefore, I think that it might be good, but the player should choose for each creature if to upgrade it or not.
Quote: a nomad faction that has and builds no town
If they already create a whole new faction, why to make it without a town?

more factions! more than 8! that would leave room for more possibilites and make for more options. New creatures, and magic more interactive environment and less dragons as level 7 creatures. a hero for might and a hero for magic for all factions. more real creatures instead of races. I like the idea of real time or simultaneous turn based or even the 4 sides engage in battle they all seem so cool, but I'm not exactly sure how that would work out in regards to Heroes of might and magic. MAYYBEEE they could implement them and that would be cool, but I think at the same time it could be much harder and they would stray away a lot from the original and I think that could possibly throw people off like sorta how heroes 4 did for me at first, but if they could pull it off I think it would be very interesting of a game...well for me at aleast...

Quote: more factions! more than 8!
Agreed.
Quote: New creatures,
This should be counted as external to factions that have no new creatures? But agreed.
Quote: and magic
another spell school would be nice.
Quote: more interactive environment
Agreed, this was promised but never delivered.
Quote: and less dragons as level 7 creatures.
Disagreed. Dragons are important and awesome.
Quote: a hero for might and a hero for magic for all factions
Agreed, and these should actually look different.

Here's another few suggestions:
- Don't release an incomplete game, reasoning you can release more factions with patches or expansions. That's just pathetic and unprofessional. Moreover when those last few factions are given "special seats" with their very own unique skills, completely tearing them out of the system that was made for the first six factions.
- Spend more time on grammar and fixing bugs and map errors. The first map of the orc campaign was full of it - very unprofessional, and it showed it was simply rushed.
- Hire better voice actors.
- Make actual cutscenes! Simply showing the moving animation of the avatars for a cutscene with a voice running in the background is lame enough as it is, but simply adding a moving mouth animation makes it completely pathetic.
- Less cartoony graphics. The style was nice and refreshing, but at the same time, it lacks that mysterious and magical atmosphere that Heroes 3 and 4 did have.
- Might AND Magic heroes for each faction!
- Stick better to lore and mythology. Making a huge cool looking beast and giving it a single eye just to justify calling it a Cyclops is bad.
I'll post more when I can think of it

In nivals defense, All the factions were very unique comparably speaking to most games, And many games dont even have 6 races, remember above all that the game is about marketing, And if i could only think of 6 factions to do properly id do those and do it well and then release twenty factions in the next expansion if i could do those properly too. .They do need an attraction for the expansions though. I think the dwarfs and orcs are fine though. They can be countered if you play right.
Quote: - Spend more time on grammar and fixing bugs and map errors. The first map of the orc campaign was full of it - very unprofessional, and it showed it was simply rushed.
Agreed. But it wasnt THAT bad.
Quote: - Hire better voice actors.
Alaric was amazing in my opinion. Biara was pretty good and isabel wasnt as bad as it could be. Some stood out as terrible like findon but most were decent, and some certainly above average. But on principle i agree.
Quote:

Almost every game does that without fully rendered videos which take extensive work and money. The cutscenes are just something small to inform you . Though i agree there were all too many cutscenes which could have used a video.
Quote:

Sort-of agreed. Some creatures wouldnt look as amazing without that style. But the graphics in themselves are pretty amazing.
Quote:

agreed. Though i have to say that system is overrated,
Quote: - Stick better to lore and mythology. Making a huge cool looking beast and giving it a single eye just to justify calling it a Cyclops is bad.
Blame greek mythology But seriously you might say that of a cyclops ut noone complains if a footman is just a footman.
Anyway i hope for more skills and perks in the game. You should have alternate skill paths. I hope for bigger maps that work nicely too . And some kind of compromise to the fact that some factions are good at rushing and some at turtling, Make each faction have a fighting chance (even if small) if that occurs.

What do you mean by external to factions that have no new creatures?
I like dragons too but in my opinion it's too much but that's just me or at least I would change the abilities of emerald and magma dragon as they are too closely similiar especially emerald's acid breathe it's called that but does basically the same thing as fire breathe.
Yes the heroes should look different even on the world map too I think and in battles. I liked that about heroes three they made all these different hero for both might and magic that was pretty neat.

Quote: What do you mean by external to factions that have no new creatures?
I mean, if you have new factions they will probobally have new creatures, but neutrals and creatures in between are always good.
Quote: I like dragons too but in my opinion it's too much but that's just me or at least I would change the abilities of emerald and magma dragon as they are too closely similiar especially emerald's acid breathe it's called that but does basically the same thing as fire breathe.
It fits in with the lore. Besides, 6 level 7s in Heroes III were Dragons.
Quote: Yes the heroes should look different even on the world map too I think and in battles. I liked that about heroes three they made all these different hero for both might and magic that was pretty neat.
Yeah. My thought is that there would be one model with a lot of stuff on it (helmets, swords, tomes, crystals, weapons, etc) that would conflict if all were visible, but the texture for Might Heroes makes the Tomes and Crystals invisible, and the texture for Magic Heroes makes the Swords and Weapons invisible.
Quote: - Don't release an incomplete game, reasoning you can release more factions with patches or expansions. That's just pathetic and unprofessional.
Agreed.
Quote: - Spend more time on grammar and fixing bugs and map errors. The first map of the orc campaign was full of it - very unprofessional, and it showed it was simply rushed.
To be fair it was translated from French (or russion or sth) Besides, you don't have to read all of it.
Quote: - Hire better voice actors.
People expect so much out of games. Not everyone is going to speak well, in games or real life. And some were alright (Ornella, Zehir, Duncan, Alaric, Malassa)
Quote: - Make actual cutscenes! Simply showing the moving animation of the avatars for a cutscene with a voice running in the background is lame enough as it is, but simply adding a moving mouth animation makes it completely pathetic.
Have you played TOTE? some of the cutscenes are pretty good, even great. I love the scene of Ornella becoming a Necro, Alaric going crazy, and the one at the end of C1M5.
Quote: - Less cartoony graphics. The style was nice and refreshing, but at the same time, it lacks that mysterious and magical atmosphere that Heroes 3 and 4 did have.
Agreed, darker could be good. However, it felt like a nice return to Heroes 1/2, and Heroes 2 was a good game.
Quote: - Stick better to lore and mythology. Making a huge cool looking beast and giving it a single eye just to justify calling it a Cyclops is bad.
The lore is diffrent in Ashan than on Earth.
