LOL at Unkle... hehe.. sorry using your nick now

Anyways, I would personalyl be very offended if people downloaded the "free" version.. and then DIDN'T buy the game. I guess you could say it's okay as long as you buy the game.. sort of. I mean, if you really really really wanted to play it, but it wasn't coming to Kazakstan (did I spell that right?) for another three months and you have the patience, internet connection, and space to download it all and you have already preordered the game then it would be all right. Assuming the files aren't corrupted...

if you ask me, downloading homm would be waaaaay too much work. And no, Homm3 shouldn't be legal.. we should form a support group for Heroeholics Anonymous

"My name is Darion, and I am a Heroeholic."
"HI DARION!"

Support the gaming community, now! We need your support, so go out to your nearest game retailer, and go make a purchase now! We need your help in keeping the game industry alive! Go out there, and show your gaming pride! Hold it up high, and shout out to the world! It is your duty to uphold the good of the companies 'round! If you don't support your addiction, you will be immediately be put on rehab...and believe me, that is not a pretty sight...

So go out, and be all that you can be!

Well, I understand the question Wizard... but I must say, I'd rather have heroes more than print shop anyday. LoL

Oka oka', seriously tho'..
I think, if I *lost* homm3, and a pal had it.. in my face! Hmmm
I mite consider the *wrong thing to do*.

The moral justification's are in favor in that situation

Good to see you haven't lost your sense of humour in the way going towards the madness with posts in Altar...

I laughed really hard with that one...

Sure we should go out and buy a game thats had hours of work lavished on it for only £30 since thats a great bargain compared too the hours of joy it will give you.

But we should not be expected to put up with them releasing rushed and uninteresting expansions (heroes chronicles mainly but also sod does not add much) and them having the nerve to charge us £15-20-30 for them. The respect should work both ways.

Bah! Heroes Chronicles?? Ha! I thought those things were a joke! If you don't like it, don't buy it! That way they know that they made a mistake in making it...

Exactly but how can we support the computer gaming industry when they would happily rip us off?

...well we have to keep it up and running, no matter what...or there would be a serious lack of good games being created...so just buy what you like, and if you don't like something, then don't even bother buying it...

Heh heh dont worry ive bought more than my fair share of games. Its odd that so many badly made games are released though especially since only about 5% of games make a profit.

...I really don't know, but most of the games I see on the shelves, after I take a glance at it, I know I don't want to buy it...a few, to download perhaps, but most of them, although they have incorporated some pretty good, fairly original ideas, the graphics themself tell me that I could never stand playing it for long...I don't see how those people make a profit...it's so sad...

Good answer...

and comunism sucks even more. Can't everything in the world be more like the linux comunity? Ppl who like to do it, do it for passtime and put them avaible for free only for personal satisfaction?

...but even Heroes 3 for Linux costs money. I know a lot of people do things as a hobby and make it available for free, but there are also people trying to make a living writing or porting computer games, and considering a two year development time and a team of 24 people, we're talking about 288 months of work going into a game.

It would be nice if that was free, but it's not going to happen except for simple solitaire and tile games.

*****

Wizardboy - as for photoshop... many amateurs do pirate it. However, if you're a pro, you should be making enough money using photoshop that it's worth it's price.

I won't say more on that right now...

...well yeah, sure...I download games sometimes...although most demos do get boring after a while...

...and what I meant was that if you can afford it, and you live within the vicinity of a game retailer, go buy the thing...it's only going to hurt you in the long run, if everyone become like you

...and about Photoshop, even after I figure the darn thing out, I don't think I'de make a cent off of it...nothing I do ever makes me a profit...at least not enough to make up for what I lose when I go gambling...but let's not go there...

As much as i understand the programers need to get paid theory.

but theres also big game manufacturers trying to increase the prizes of their products and so on not just to pay the programmers but to make as much profit as possible (not saying that is wrong). some of them even use illegal methods themselves to achieve this. thats a fact.

So i thing the current cfg is the best one, that is, some ppl buy the products and some tries to find a download location.

For myself i can say i bought homm3 3 times, the 4th time it just feelt kinda silly to pay for it so...
(yeah i know, i lost the disc a few times and another time i broke it on purpose)

Zud,I guess i am part of developing homm4 too then, sigh
