50% new cards is a lot. I hope M11 has more like 10% new cards. Otherwise all these nice new cards will have gone to waste.

I saw Evacuation mentioned and thought for a moment about building a blue deck based on CIP effects (or, post-M10, ETB effects), but then I realised it'd just be underpowered Faeries.

by new they mean 20% brand new. 20% fixed reprints (relevant creature types) and then the remaining 10 % are strictly worse reprints (Such as changing from a relevant creature type to an irrelevant one)
I'm disappointed with baneslayer angel... mythic =/= powercreep.

Bye bye little woggy

I'm not sad to see WOG gone. In my opinion, control decks have become far too powerful over the past three years. R&D is giving aggro & combo a chance to come out and play.

You know that there were combodecks (even in Extended and STANDARD!) that goldfished turn3 to turn4? Heartbeat, Eggs, D-storm, Whatever-Storm, Ichorid, Turboelves, etc.
Also WoG does not stop combo from win..

With the outing of Wrath of God, my Hallowed Burial will be worth more for a few months. I think I'll swap it for a Wrath of God (or two if I'm lucky) for casual purposes.

EDIT: And so, the time of the prerelease has come once more. Anyone else is going?

i am going to a prerelease.(sealed)
I'm hoping i don't get any dual lands for my rares...
that would be awful for me especially considering a good deal of bombs are rares.

Well, I rarely end up playing more than one or two rares in my sealed decks, so I certainly wouldn't mind a dual land.

I find that a smooth mana curve with solid early drops does much more than bombs.

Then sell them? Practically all rare duals are pretty chase. And now that the tribal duals, painlands, filterlands and the vivid+pool engine are rotating...

true... i personally think wizards should lay off the efficient duals...
most of them have better drawbacks than basic lands.

I never said combo decks didn't exist. I just said they weren't strong enough to compete with control decks. Turn 1 thoughtseize beats almost every combo deck, and cryptic command holds down the rest.
Quote:

2) WoG does stop combo decks, indirectly. If a control deck cannot beat an aggro deck, then it won't be played. The lack of powerful control decks means that combo decks can focus on speed only without regard to resilience. Enter Wrath of God. Suddenly control decks are powerful enough that they can compete with the aggro decks. The addition of control decks to the meta game means that combo decks now have to spend cards slots on resilience instead of speed. This makes them more vulnerable to aggro decks, and they get pushed out of the format.

And so the prerelease has come to an end. It was surprisingly poorly attended. There were 13 people playing I think.

I did horribly, with a tie on my first round, loss on second and third and a bye on the fourth.

My pulls:
Open the Vaults
Haunting Echoes
Siege-Gang Commander
Master of the Wild Hunt
Howling Mine

and...

Darksteel Colossus!

I've been wanting to get this card ever since I started playing. Makes me not feel bad about losing all my games.

Worst moment of the day? Getting my Master of the Wild Hunt assassinated and promptly stolen with that new Zombify, which made the Master black and thus immune to my Doom Blades

Oh well, at least I bought a playset of Tidehollow Scullers and three Murderous Redcaps for my Flickering Plans deck.

i did relatively well.

Round 1 - loss due to serra angels and a forked fireball.

round 2 - loss

Round 3 - Platinum angel + no more removal, Loss

Round 4 - Bye

round 5 - Victory

as for my deck it was
Blue red splashing white for removal

blue - djinn of wishes + sleep had won me more than one game

red - earthquake and fireball plus 2 lava axes.

white - removal and armored ascension

Rares
Earthquake
Djinn of wishes
Gargoyle castle(foil)
Dragonskull summit
lurking predators
mirror of fate
mind spring

and with Mirror of fate that makes it the 23rd booster without a mythic rare.

Actually standard is getting raped by aggro decks. Beatdown is pretty much the only viable strategy in Type 2. Even people playing 5CC decks have gone to aggro/control variants playing bloodbraid elf, anathemancer, along with Cryptic Command and some card draw.

Wrath of God is pretty much a waste against the deck dominating the format, B/W Tokens. The new persist variation w/ Ajani Goldmane, Finks, and Redcap feels pretty much nothing against wrath of god. The deck is just too resilient to any mass removal effect.

Now that Persist, Windbrisk Heights, and Spectral Procession will all be leaving standard, I have to say I'm disappointed that they are getting rid of Wrath of God for a snowty replacement. This doesn't even kill creatures that can regenerate.

Anyway, I refuse to play, buy, or play by the rules of Magic 2010 for at least a few months. R&D has been ruining this game ever since Lorwyn came out. In fact, I've vowed to not buy a single magic card, no matter where it's from.

Ravnica and Time Spiral were probably the best 2 blocks ever printed. It's a shame that it's gone downhill so quickly.

My favorite decks to play all revolve around mostly cards from those 2 blocks.

So I was a sad panda when I found out how expensive Kitchen Finks is. I ended up testing Aven Riftwatcher in my Flickering Plans deck instead.

Galepowder Mage + Aven Riftwatcher = +4 life each turn

Also, it has an easier mana cost, flies and can block bigger 2/x creatures without dying. Although it's not as awesome a beater.

So yeah, I'm making the swap.

Gonna use it with endless swarms to make a blue/green control. with endless swarms as both the lock and the finisher....
