Yes. During the Declare Attackers step, after attackers are declared, players can play spells or abilities. The same happens during the Declare Blockers step after blockers are declared and ordered.
EDIT: I just passed a Rules Advisor exam with a score of 96%

So its not attacking anymore, and i do not have to block anything?

Untapping a creature does not remove it from combat. To illustrate this, see Gustcloak Runner and such - their ability reads "Whenever Gustcloak Runner becomes blocked, you may untap it and remove it from combat".
So if a player attacks with Gilder Bairn and then uses its untap ability in the declare attackers step, then it is still attacking and can be blocked.

First of all, before myself, I'd like to congratulate Wook for his passing the Rules exam. Very impressive, and I know its not easy. You've gotta know the rules.
Next I'd like to apologize for my extended absence, but I don't plan to be gone again.
I'm glad to see this thread live on without me, not to make myself looky a little assy.
So, the folks over at MTGSalvation have compiled a little list of M11 spoilers. I'm quite nonchalant about it so far, but no rares save Angie have been spoiled much. Wonder what planeswalkers will make it in?

Late congrats. And i'd say the original 5 walkers. i can't see any of the other monocolored walkers joining them with the exception of maybe elspeth.

Tezzeret is not too narrow given that the block of the fall, Scars of Mirrodin, is artifact based.

For that i must thank you a lot! My brother has used gilderbairns To attack, and then pay the untap cost. And we always thought that it stopped attacking when the cost was paid.

Some of the common and uncommon cards in M11 spoiled so far are pretty impressive. I was really surprised by Garruk's Companion at common.

Its too narrow for m11 though and they will probably bring another tezz variant in for SoM anyway.

Also, Tezz would then rotate out with Zendikar block, not Scars of Mirrodin.
I think the common and uncommon cycles named after the original 5 are a good indicator that we'll get the same old same old. Tezzeret is still a likely candidate to get a new card in SoM block though.

Everybody knows the card Progenitus and the Emrakul the Aeons Thorn..
Aaand maybe some of you know the Lorwyn card "Dread"..
If i'm dealt damage by Progenitus and/or Emrakul, does dread kill them then, or is it somekind of targeting?

Dread reads
"whenever a creature deals damage to you, destroy it." Right?
If so then it can kill them. in fact emrakul only has protection from spells so he can be o-ringed, you can kill him with a seal of doom, you can bounce him with the bounce seal (can't remember name).
As for progentitus he dies too. he only has protection but nontargeting destruction or bounce or anything still works on him.

They're talking about the actual card game.
There IS a computer game that's probably abandonware by now...that goes up to 4th Edition I think though.

You don't actually buy cards in duels of the planeswalkers.
It comes with a certain number of decks with a few customizable slots and you play against the computer or online. beating the campaigns unlocks new cards for the decks.

Woot, the M11 prerelease promo seems like something I'd like to try in my Flickering Plans deck as a 1- or 2-of.
EDIT: What does everyone think about the new Extended announcement? It probably won't drag me into competitive constructed, but I like the fact that Ravnica block shocklands should drop in price a fair bit
