back from archenemy. played a few games and i came to the conclusion that i don't like it.

the general summary for the two games was thus.

ld, discard and counters kept me out of the game while my one of my foes started ramping up into a turn 7 emrakul.
(in defense of archenemy we were not aware that scheme cards flipped over while you had an ongoing)

The second game was worse. We were all playing the arch decks and we all kept drawing lands. the archenemy drew nothing but schemes that did relatively nothing. I eventually slaughtered the archenemy with a bunch of saprolings backed by a double overrun (turn 40ish)

i feel that perhaps with a better tailored scheme deck and a deck designed to take advantage of it the archenemy could pose a threat but for now it was kind of pathetic, none of the archenemies at my location won.

Eh, all my coolest deck ideas are enemy-colored, whereas there are no budget enemy pair lands except the Shards trilands! Yeah, they're just as good as a two-color tapland would be (except enemy-colored ones don't exist), but upon inclusion I'm tempted to splash for the middle color, even though there isn't anything worthwhile to splash for!

Also, a mana base of 4 trilands and 4 terramorphics plus assorted basics is just a wee bit too slow for my liking.

Currently I'm thinking of a deck around Selective Memory and Stomping Slabs, supported See Beyond and Brainstorm to both find what I need sooner and hide extraneous Slabs in the deck. Good thing is, the UR painlands are among the cheapest of the cycle.

There are some budget enemy colored w/b and g/b lands (from torment though)

You could also use the eventide filter lands or are those too expensive?

I don't know, but hopefully the shortening of Extended will make the shocklands cheaper by a half or so.

Anyway, speaking of green-black - Leaf-Crowned Elder wielding a Runed Stalactite and flipping into Emrakul...?

Personally i find it quite fun, but insanely hard to defeat more than two..

I like the new lich. Unfortunately with the abundance of strong removal no longer utilizing destroy effects... indestructible is nigh useless.

It's big enough to survive whatever it would find on the battlefield at 3 mana anyway.

The demon is nice too.

went o the prerelseas. i ended up going white/blue/black (splashed for a doom blade and an assassinate)

I almost went 4-1 but a crucial mistake allowed a fauna shaman to grab a vengeful archon to get equipped by the halfakroma sword to swing for one more than my life total. if i had attacked with one less creature i would've survived with 1 life left and an unblockable shrouded juggernaut.

I quit the last game (wanted to leave) i was winning when i quit though. who knows. i might of won.

and i won a game by diminishing one of my own creatures.

Overall i pulled sucky rares

leyline of void - useless in sealed
wild invocation - not all that good. by the time i play it my hand is empty
protean hydra - not enough green to justify
bop - ^
dragonskull summit -
dark tutelege - i lacked enough lifegain.

Moment of the day was when i had topdecked 3 elixers with the dark tutelege bringing tears to the eyes of my opponent.

Otherwise it went well. the pridemates attracted a lot of removal and i ended up winning by either getting whispersilk cloak or overrunning them with the 7 or so fliers i got.

The quality of your entire sealed pool is what matters, not just the quality of the rares, though I grant that the biggest bombs are usually found at the rare/mythic slot.

Moneywise you pulled some decent ones.

yeah but i'm still happy to see rares.

it's an addiction from when i first started.

I pretty much knew i had to go white given my pulls

2x ajani's mantra
2x ajani's pridemante
2x assault griffin
3x pacifism
1x blinding mage
1x serra angel
1x warpriest of thume (cut from the final build as i fought nobody running enchantments)

i knew i had to go part white
After i get home from work i think i'll post my pulls.

1x Doom blade - Great removal as far as removal goes.
2x rise from the grave - i don't want to rely on my opponent's creatures too much. not sure of it's strength
3x barony vampires -
2x stabbing pain - not enough 1/1's worth killing imo.
1x duress - i don't worry too much about noncreatures (aside chandra)
i had plenty of threats and ways to kill a planeswalker.
1x viscera seer - sac a creature for scry 1? good if i had dispensible tokens.
1x nether horror
1x sign in blood - too hard to splash
1x nightwing shade - quasi playable but too hard to splash
1x bog raiders -
1x rotting legion
1x assasinate - used this as i needed more removal
1x dark tutelage - losing extra life nearly killed me a few games.
1x corrupt - synergy with pridemate but hard to splash
1x leyline of the void - graveyard shenanigans? sure it stops disentomb and rise from the grave but that's about it.

2x manic vandals - if i had more red i would've ran these. those swords of vengeance HURT

White/Blue splash black?
I could see myself add red for the Vandals or Pyromancer (and maybe Fling) in some matches. (Dragonskull Summit + Terramorphic Expanse + 1 Mountain should be enough).

Did you not play armored ascension?

i lost it during deckbuilding. i would've run it but you know. leave your cards on the table. run over to get lands. cards gone. someone must've thought they were theirs.

and i did indeed run white/blue and splashed black.

Did you have to register card pools first? In that case you could just call a judge and get a replacement. Even if you did not register card pools you should call a judge anyway; there would be nothing to lose.

I'm considering getting into Elder Dragon Highlander. My General candidates (that is, readily available legendary creatures) are: Iname, Death Aspect; Norin the Weary; Lovisa Coldeyes; Seshiro the Anointed; Savra, Queen of the Golgari; Maga, Traitor to Mortals; Emrakul, Eons Torn; Oros, the Avenger; Teneb, the Harvester; Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar; Jhoira of the Ghitu; Major Teroh; Tuktuk the Explorer; Braids, Conjurer Adept; Homura, Human Ascendant; Mirri the Cursed.

I'm kinda torn between Jhoira of the Ghitu and Teneb the Harvester. The former enters the battlefield quickly and drops relatively quick Darksteel Colossi and Emrakuls, whereas the latter opens up more colors, including two of the best removal colors, is an evasive beatstick on his own and can grab opponents' creatures. Then again, in relation to the colors, it'll require more mana fixing.

Thoughts?

EDIT: Just realized that Teneb can be handily fed by Dredge.
