[Mod] Heroes of Axeoth

Hello everyone!

I've created a mod that converts all heroes from Tribes of the East to heroes from the h3/h4 universe. The mod is called Heroes of Axeoth.

In summary these are the features of the mod:

-All  Heroes are converted to heroes from the old universe (also the hidden ones, the campaign heroes and scenario-heroes, I counted around 123).
-All Heroes have their own name, class name, bio and icon, also specialization-icons, names and descriptions are changed when necessary.
-Might and magic classes for every faction.
-New specializations, more balanced campaign hero specializations.
-More variation in specializations.
-All heroes unlocked in all multiplayer maps and random maps.
-A large all-faction map with a ‘light-edition’ for low-performance pc’s
(the maps can also be played without the mod).
-Classic spell-descriptions.
-Classic difficulty levels, providing improved AI and more options for advanced players.
-Some tooltips are improved.
-Version text in main menu.

Here are the screenshots:

The mod file (12 mb) is hosted on mediafire
Here are the download links:

Mod Package (rar)

Mod Package (zip)

The Archives must be unpacked after downloading. You can unpack it with a lot of free to download programs like winrar or 7zip. There are installation instructions and documentation inside the package. The mod is in english, if you are interested in a French translation
(work in progress):

Have fun and please tell me what you think!

I have created a new link to the screenshots file. I hope this one works:

[Edit] Removed the link, the screenshots on the site should be enough now.

I believe the mod-link still works because it's now downloaded 14 times.

Thanks for the positive commands!

But i would like to hear a more clear confirmation that you're
getting the mod and download to work correctly. I simply have not very much experience using this forum. I also wonder if it works on
other language versions then mine. I have the english european edition. Does that mean it works for US too?

Before saying something deserves a QP, maybe you should check first what  kind of work QP's are supposed to reward. I'll simply quote what Sfidanza said :

Quote:
if posting a mod gives no QP, what does?
Mainly, posting useful explanations, allowing everyone to understand how modding/scripting/mapping works. This means tutorials, information. Most of the time, a modder has to figure out some things to make his mod. This knowledge, if explained nicely, might be QP-worthy.

Nice to hear it works!

to winfola: the answer is yes!,

I hope you can download the bios somewhere or extract
them from an old french game, otherwise that would be a
huge job. I also want to make some notes on the specialization
descriptions, I think when you start examining the text folders,
you might find some files that were not really necessary in the
mod and so overwrite a french file that could have been used.
The reason for this is that when I started creating the mod i
first extracted all text files. This was very important for me,
because i didn't want to make the modding process more complicated
then it already was. After the mod was ready I tried to clean things
up a bit, but it might not be optimized completely. For people with
an english game this doesn't matter at all because the overwriting
files are exactly the same as the originals and extremely small (don't make the download bigger). It also can help me patching the mod easier when people find bugs. I just wanna let you know about these problems, you may run into, especially when i decide to make an upgrade to the mod.

I have found a bug- Witches flag is yellow when regular barbarian's is red.

I have also one question: could you add existing special hero models to each hero? It would be great...

I had not noticed this before, it seems that the kujin-model has a static flag color. This problem also applies to the female barbarians Shiva and Lanya. I currently have no clue about how this can be fixed.

Do you mean campaign hero models or models created by others? I already tried to use appropriate campaign hero models as much as possible. I can of course not use mods created by others without permission. At this moment I'm not creating new hero skins myself because my skills on this are very limited.

I was talking about using models made by others...
If they agree to use them in the game, why won't they allow you to add them to your mod?

There may be appropriate models in the unique hero model collection supervised by sfidanza (I haven't investigated), but I would surely not do that without permission.
When a hero gets a new model, I need to change its individual .xdb file. That means I have to incorporate these models in my own package to work. For creatures it would be a different story, everyone can use this mod together with any mod that brings back classic creatures because it's compatible with creature mods.

Very good effort

However, I'd make less "specializations" based on Empowered Spells, and woudn't consider natural skills as them.

Sacred Hammer is modable, you can specify other spell there.

I'm mentioning this 'cause I see you change as much as possible, while you left this unchaged.

I have updated the post, I cleaned up the old screenshot links,
and added a link to a zip package and a french mirror

I agree, but there is unfortunately not very much to do about it, the options for creating new specs are just very limited. If I would add more heroes from now I would surely be forces to start doubling creature-specs.

It was not exactly my purpose to change as much as possible, I just tried to create as much variation and balance tweaks to the specs as possible. I personally like the Sacred Hammer ability the way it is(and I think a lot of people with me). It would be great if I could make more specs like sacred hammer (using endurance or divine strenght for example), but it is not possible to use the skill again in a different state.

Unfortunately, the only serious Dark Magic blessing is Vampirism. That in Sacred Hammer special would suit Anita Even-sumthin perfectly, but what an imba, even on low triggering chance

(Just thinking) ...now you mention it, that could also be a fun mod: making all specs super-powerful instead of balancing them.

That would be a way to "balance" them as well although making them too powerful might just break the strategic aspect of the game.

How do you edit this? Could you give us some hints? Thanks.
