Divine Vengeance... say no more
Well I just had an "hero" game against fraudatio (all random single hero)
he was Dungeon as Yrwanna I was Stronghold as Kragh....
the clue here is witch shatter to choose.... here is Kragh:

I think I don't need to say that Divine Vengeance is overpowered...
but then again good game by fraudatio... (and I also had an flawless round.. almost....)

I can add some info about my hero:
Expert Irr - Empowered, Dark Rit (yeah I know, should I have picked navigation instead?)
Exp Enl - Int, Grad, Dark Rev
Exp Destr - Master of Ice, Cold D, Master of Storms
Exp Summon - Master of Conj
Exp Sorcery - Erratic,
Exp Light, Twilight (had Exp Logs but sold it as I never got swift mind)
I had pretty much all relevant destructive and summon spells, and bought book of light early. When I was about to cast spells (bird came to mind), i soon found out that both my summon and destruction spells were out of order, shatter and detain all over the place... And the mentioned divine vengeance was the only choice left. And it is just plain broken... it was all about surviving long enough for my hero to be able to cast 5-6 times...

Since the save was corrupt i guess we should sum up the battle...
Fiur pounding away, and me taking out one stack after the other with divine vengeance, 170 centaurs, all cheiftains, all cyclops, all daughters etc. Of course they took a great deal of me first, so I had to ressurrect 5 dragons near the end to be sure to stay alive.

Just curious...what is Divine Vengeance and what makes it so powerful that it could kill a whole stack of 100+ creatures in a single blow?
I'm fairly familiar with stronghold, but I haven't played other factions much past Week 2 or 3 (I have soo many started games, but only 3 finished so far).

Direct DamageDivine Vengeance - Cost: 14
Inflicts magical damage to selected creature that depends on the number of enemies selected creature killed from the beginning of combat.

The damage inflicted depends on the target's "frags": the number of creatures killed multiplied by their tier. For example, killing 5 peasants gives 5 frags, while killing 1 Paladin gives 6 frags. Killing a summoned creature gives no frag.
In the damage formula, F is the square root of the target's frags.
no mastery:
F*(Power+10)
basic mastery:
3*F*(Power+10)
advanced mastery:
4*F*(Power+10)
expert mastery:
6*F*(Power+10)

I think Alci & Elvin have made a mod to nerf DV. It's in the Temple.
I also have similar exp as Ves. If not because of DV, my Freyda would've been crushed in the last campaign. It's still a broken thing for MP, though.

Ah... I was wondering if you just started learning to mod & suddenly become an expert  Good thing I'm at least diplomatically safe by saying "Alci & Elvin" not "Elvin & Alci" *LOL*

Why not learn shout with the orcs ?
Expert shout + distract, after first turn, the dungeon hero might never get their turn so soon
Dungeon depends very much on the heroes turn, without it, they're crippled

with orcs....have as many witch doctors as possible, and cast it on the enemy hero.....
Versus Cycleguy, he was only able to cast Divine Vengeance once.
