A few new images drawn by Oliver Ledroit. If you take a look at the dates it says that these were made in 2007, which would be around the time when the work on Heroes VI started (or actually while it was pretty much advanced). I posted the images in the artwork thread, but decided to post them here as well to play up all the speculations.

At the Gamescom, Erwan said there would be offensive and defensive position in the arenas. One could think it's one of those. I'm hoping that there will be chests and other stuff as in King's Bounty

Well, I'll say it for the 100th time. The videos are a footage from the Gamescom and since they had to show the game to the press and other people, the settings were at minimum speed.

Everyone seems to forget that the default settings in every Heroes games are awfully slow.

The Haven hero name is Anton, the next one is Inferno hero - Cyryl, and Necro hero Irina.

The story goes as follow (may have some spoilers!):

The story begins when the legendary Archangel General who died at the war of the olds is being ressurected. He wants to conquer the world of Ashan and he says that people should prepare for the demon invasion, but in fact it is only an excuse because what he really wants is to kill the Griphons dynnasty.
All began when the Griphons duke was killed by his beloved daughter - Irina. She can't say why she did such a terrible crime. Her brother Anton in revenge for the death of his father kills her. Then Irina is being ressurected as a Necromancer and fights her siblings. Anton's twin brother Cyryl after the death of his father goes mad and a demonic presence posses him. From time to time his soul tries to get rid of the demonic presence and he is able to control his actions. When he does so he tries to leave the demonic forces but he is able to control himself only for a limited time.
Anton himself is not free from supernatural forces of good and evil, who are fighting for his soul.

Reputation:
It seems that the reputation system will allow heroes to have access to more NPCs and additional side quests.

Secret passages:
In the Polish magazine article it is said that in the map they played there was a secret passage under a waterfall which allowed players who knew it to shorten their way across the mountain.

Additional worlds:
There are "additional worlds" of caves and undeground terrain.

Bosses:
Killing a boss will grant some artifacts (in the article it is said "valuable items for all heroes")

How do you pronounce Anastasia in English?

It's a Russian version of a Greek female name. In Russian, it's pronounced un-nust-us-SEE-ya, not ane-as-TAZE-ee-ah.

By the way, the meaning of the name is 'she who rises from the dead' or 'ressurected one'.

There might be other hints in the characters' names.

Anton (Anthony), pronounced un-TON, in the Russian Orthodox tradition, translates as 'champion, one who stands ground against his foes, one who fights back'.

Kirill (Cyril), pronounced kee-REEL means 'little despot'.

Irina (Irene), pronounced ee-REEN-ah stands for 'peaceful one'

Pavel (Paul), pronounced PAH-vel, means 'humble'.

Sveltana is a corruption of Svetlana (pronounced Svet-LAH-nah) and is a purely Slavic name with no cognates in the Greek and Latin traditions. The root 'svet' means light (historically related to English 'white' and 'swan'), and the suffix -la suggests that the name was derived from an adjective with the meaning 'bright' or 'pure', and -na is an ages old, obscure feminine name ending. So, the possible translations are 'the bright one' or 'the lightbringer'. Spelling Svetlana as Sveltana may either be a typo or her own invention when she had to change her name for ritual purposes. Or she could even be an undead (arch)angel, since her name stands out for its very special etymology and non-Greek origins. The rest of the names, despite being Russian, ultimately come from Greek.

Humans, Demons, Necromancers, Elves and Naga is also my favored guess for line-ups. Like I mentioned previously, it's by far the most likely explanation I see for the terrains (Summergrass, Lava, Wasteland, Autumngrass, Jungle).

What exactly are the references for Naga being peace-loving? In the myth of creation, I find the following passages, which albeit not exactly have this specific word, does fit the ggeneral characteristics:

Presently, someone must have been heavily editing the M&M wiki. I swear I saw the word peaceful in the article 'Naga', on the page that featured concept art from an unreleased Naga faction planned for H5. The most interesting part of the quote is missing:

Updates have to be read as Add-ons I think.

Yet that more looks like speculation from the writer than announcement.

Something that I believe everyone will be glad to hear.

You can rotate the camera but as soon as you release the button, it returns to its default angle. Also you can zoom in and out. When at maximum zoom the camera angle gets more horizontal.

Elvin and I have no clue whether these are for H6, but I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that that these portray the Archangel General and Kha-Beleth(/Kiril?). If you compare that Demon Lord's face with the three siblings from earlier, it gets kind of obvious.

And it's hardly simple coincidence that the H6 story focuses on Angels and then this piece of art suddenly crops up.

As far as I can tell, the adventure map is made of squares, just like in H3. The griffins are keeping their "dive" ability,

What about the area of control?
There are still mines on the adventure map. You still have to flag them in order to gain resources. The new stuff is now all mines are in the "area of control" of a city or fort. Once you own the fort/city of an area and flagg the mines, the only way to take the mines from you is to capture the city/fort that controls the area.

Will there be any town screen?
YES, totally. In the demo shown in Köln, they used a temporary screen. The final one is said to be in 2D, more like H3 and H4 and not as complex as the H5 ones. Erwan Le Breton, the game producer, said it himself
Erwan Le Breton: "There will be 2D animated town screen in the release version of the game"

What is the new mechanics for creature production?
Creature dwellings will work as resource production buildings. Basically, when you first capture a creature dwelling you will receive a first batch of creatures that you can integrate straight away to your army. The building will then work as a resource building meaning that it will add creatures to your creature pool every week as a gold mine would add gold to your resources. These creatures will then be hirable via the cities and forts you control. So there is no need for caravans.

What are the Town unique buildings?
2 slots, 4 buildings per town, each with a different ability (economy booster, creature production booster, gives a special ability on the adventure map or the combat maps) Having several similar unique buildings in different towns improves their efficiency (a bit like the marketplaces).

What are the general principles of the revised RPG system?
- Heroes can be male, female, Might, Magic - Heroes have faction and class specific abilities - Heroes gain skill points when they level up, that they can spend consciously on “general” abilities organized in skill categories – they have total control over their development – no more “probability-based” limited skill choices offered to the player - Heroes can unlock advanced classes that will change their appearance and grant them an ultimate ability

What will bring more variety in the combat arenas?
- Specific topography (various sizes and shapes for the battle arenas)
- Dynamic topography (seashore battle with the tide flooding the arena turn by turn)
- Different combat objectives (hold your ground for X turns, defend this sacred shrine at the center of the arena, kill a specific enemy stack, etc.)
- Boss fights!

How about the Initiative system?
Back to H3 mechanics but with a H5-like INI bar interface.

What is the new Creature Tier System?
Core, Elite, Champion (like Clash of Heroes)

What about Creature Siege Damage?
Creature stacks can now damage the fortifications (but are obviously less efficient than catapults)

What about the fixed camera angle?
On the adventure map, to remove the necessity of rotating the camera to locate hidden items. Easier to manage for players and map designers, feels like 2D navigation but with the benefit of 3D coolness

What about the creatures?
no secondary / alternative upgrades
Obvious in the concept arts.

What about the Artifact Sets?
Nothing special – you collect them all and you get a bonus.

What about the different tile sets?
Jungle, Plains (Summer AND Autumn), Lava, Wasteland (Necropolis), Underground

What about the presence of critters on the adv map?
You’ll find turtles, dolphins, birds, etc.

What is the Campaign structure?
5 campaigns of 4 maps, 1 per faction, playable in any order, with an optional tutorial map and a mandatory prologue map.

What about the Map editor?
Marzhin is REALLY involved and there is a goal to make it user-friendly at the latest to be shipped with the game, but if possible and the quality is good enough it will be released BEFORE the game.

I think they'd almost all been posted here, proof that people never read the stickies The discussion ran its course after a while so Alc decided to close it and open again when we have a new batch of news/features. Some of those are in the FAQ but I did not find it important to include them all so I just linked the old thread.

Edit: Since ubi put them in Q&A format I decided to update the FAQ. Should be more complete now, thanks ceph.
