Gladerion - OoC

The world of Gladerion is comprised of 7 medium sized landmasses.  Six of them form a loose circle around the 7th.  For years all the islands have been at war, trying to claim the 7th.  It is wild and untamed, with vast riches and powerful magical items.  Or so it is claimed.  Due to the war, nobody has yet successfully explored the entirety of the area.

There is probos.  Kingdom of the humans.  They are wealthy do to rich deposits of spices and worker export.  They are mostly traders and workers, with a few exceptions.  Lately they have been expanding their trading routes, making allies with the other islands.  A few believe they are up to something.  Humans can be all classes. (Sticking with the traditional classes of.  Warrior, Cleric, Paladin, Mage, thief, Druid, and monk).

There is Tlefin - Kingdom of the Light Elves.  They are solitary and reclusive, but have some of the best archers and magic in the lands.  Can be all classes, but speciallize in archery and magic.

There is Var'tal - Kingdom of the Dwarves.  Ores and minerals are abundant in their lands.  They dislike the seas, but have heard tell of ancient dwarven artifacts on the 7th island.  They want to go there bad.  Dwarves have penalties for any class that is not warrior or cleric.  (no druids)

Jderic - Kingdom of the Dark Elves.  They live mostly underground and are the black market masters.  If you have the money, and the guts, you can get just about anything from them.  Just make sure to watch your back..and your front..and your neck.  Not much of a shipping fleet, but they have spies everywhere.  Penalties for any non-thief or non-mage.  (no druid or paladin at all)

Ndxzsgati (Called Nixi) - Kingdom of the Gnomes and Halflings.  Very cushy and rich being the home of most of the inventions in the world.  Can be any class except druid or paladin.

Verdata (Forbidden) - The other island is shrouded in mystery and enigma.  People know some sort of amphibious lizards live there, but not much else.  Not a playable race/class.

Ok the base 'rules'.  Don't worry about stats, won't be used.  Can be any race with the class restrictions noted above.  Will be level 1, limited funds, no heirlooms.  No hidden/myterious/or unknown abilities.  You are level 1, means you are kinda weak.   Skills are those that make sense for the race/class combo.  You get a basic (non-magical) weapon, basic supplies (flint, tender, rope, ect), and 2 weeks of food.  You also get a free armor (again not magical) that the character can wear up to chainmail.

Anybody interested (keeping the above rules in mind.) This will be as close to table top dnd as it can be.  Except no dice rolling .

I suppose the form we shall fill is something like:

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Race:
Class:
Biography:
Personality:
Good powers:
Bad powers:

Or am I wrong?

Name: Obscurum (meaning; Darkness)

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Race: Dark Elf

Class: Mage/Warrior (uses magic to strenghten his weapons with the elements; fire, water, earth and wind)

Biography: Obscurum were taken away from his parents at early age by the counsil itself, who saw his ability to master magic. They made him study with their masters of the art, the mages. Within an age of 15 he were known and feared, within an age of 17 he was one of their most favored spies and assasins. When he reached the age of 18, they promised they should send him on a mission soon, a mission that would be extremely important for their own race.

Personality: Greedy, impulsive, aggressive but also reasonable when needed.

Good powers: Can summon fire, water, earth or wind, and slightly control them. He were thought into the art of magic and became an elementalist.

Bad powers: If powers are used to much and in a too powerful way he looses control of it, or it turns against him.

Just remember multiclassing will slow down progress compaired to a single class.  Also there are some restrictions that they face.  For instance too heavy armor restricts casting, and can not cast with weapons in hand.  This is universal for casters.  The addition of warrior does allow use of heavier armor then robes though.  However everything is good so far.  Sending you the spells you will have access to at this level .

Edit : However being dark elf you get some nice abilities.  Continual Darkness 1x a day (you yourself can see in it).  Only continual light or continual light 10' radius can negate it.  Dispell magic does nothing.

Faerie Fire + grants a +2 to hit, prevents enemy from going invis or using stealth.  Lasts 3 turns, impossible to dispell.  1x a day.

Magic Resistance : 30% + 1 % a level.

Wearing no armor, more like a couple of long knives for killing mostly it's magic. I should maybe change the class to mage/assasin, since that's more what I am

Cool! DnD! I think I wanna join.  Ofcourse, I'm a Dark Elf. Priestess or Cleric (whatever it should be called here but Priestess sounds more fun!).

So two Dark Elves, one mage/fighter.  One Priestess (cleric).  Interesting.  Oh EDN, you do know the social arrangement with Dark Elves right?  Men are second class citizens.  Even the lowest class female has more authority then the highest class male.  In case you were not aware.

This sounds kinda like Lords of Tanaran. Is that kinda what you had in mind, minus the minor number crunching?

Yep.  It is the swashbuckling, high adventure, death defying true fantasy rpg.  The sizzle of spells, the clang of weapons, the swinging on chandiliers (or other nearby objects).  Without the mind boringly number crunching, dice rolling, and such.  Sort of a Choose your Own Adventure (TM for somebody else, don't ask me who) style.  Characters can (and probably at one time or another will) die, but ressurections and such are possible.

Oh yeah and the standard rules apply.  You can post NPC's actions (within reason and within what such a person might normally do.  Ie a banker is not going to just hand over all his vaults gold because you ask nicely), but not other characters with two exceptions.  1) Consent from the controller of that PC.  2) Limited GM (that's me) in regards to reations from damage/spells/ect.

Since the worship of Lloth is mandatory, yes.  Dark Elves do worship other gods/goddesses in secret, but publically they all at least say they worship Lloth.

Evil is purely subjective, but they are not destined to die.  Just as 'good' is not destined to 'win'.

Gee... Why do Dwarfs get penalties? But to smoothen that out they are even more kickass warriors right?
Well I would be interested but since I have absolutely no idea how DnD works I'm not sure... so is this like a normal RPG where you basically right stuff or this with some "real" encounters so you can't deside what happens, things happen according to "rules"?

Right the DM (that is me) decides what happens in combat.  You tell me what you attempt, I decide if it is successful or not.  However, just to note the Dwarves only get exp penalties if not Warriors or clerics.  They just don't learn the other professions as easy.  Yes they are kickbutt warriors .

So it is with rules, but lenient rules. People can get away with a bit more then table top DnD (cause of the no dice thing).  You still write a lot of the happenings, decide where you go and what you do, ect.

Edit : I try to guide ya through a series of adventures, but you are free to ignore my pitiful attempts and go pretty much where you want.  Even ignore the 'center' island and all it's riches should you so desire.  Hehehe

Wooho now that sounds a bit more interesting so basically whenever I have an encounter I write about it (without the action?) because you are the one to decide whether I do xy dmg to the creature and whether it's hit kills me/makes me unconscious/I laugh about it etc.?
If that is so won't this thing have huuuuuuge gaps? Because whenever I write about stuff you'll have to decide how I can continue?

Yes, sadly that is the case.  And I will also put you in combat situations from time to time.  It is a bit harder then face to face DnD, but I know it can be successful because I've done it on another board before.
