let's see the options:
HAVEN
you would probably start out as a peasent and pay your master gold until he level you up o an archer. and in the end when you have been slaving there for 10 years (if you are not dead) you might become a priest or cavalier. no thank you
INFERNO
being burned to death and teased with by imps and biten by cerberuses. no thank you.
SYLVAN
learn spells for the good of nature. live in a nice little tree house with hot pixies and sprites and dryads and female elfs. i could live here.
DUNGEON
learn the ways of the assasin. sneak up on your enemies and assasinate them. plus hot chicks and armies of minotaur slaves. I would like to stay here.
NECROPOLIS
share your apartment with smelly undead corpses. no thank you.
ACADEMY
learn the ways of the arcane and learn powerful magics. create your own titan. this could work.
FORTRESS
live with sweaty 1 meter high dwarfs. no thank you.
STRONGHOLD
being sold in a slave market and teased by cowardice goblins. I think i will pass.

Guess I'll have to join the forest party.
Besides, hunting deers and other animals is nice.
And I don't see anything bad in living in a Vampire Mansion, vamps are very nice guys...especially when they catch you asleep.

The choice is easy for me. Sylvan all the way. Get a cabin near the top of the tree with a nice view of the lake and town below, or maybe bunk with Baklava, Elvin etc. I could go hunting with the hunters (I already know how to use bow, I took archery last semester), meditate with druids and learn some magic, have a pet unicorn, get one of those awesome wind dancer swords and maybe learn battledance and ride the dragons.
Sounds like a good choice to me

I'd definitely live in a Sylvan town. 
Maybe I'll go live at the Avenger's Guild and figure out what exactly heroes do there? 
Or go live with the Faeries...

Ever since homm3 went out I wanted to live in one of those Dwarf dwellings, they looks like the hovels in Lord of the Rings =D It might be not very comfortable to live there but thats just how I feel =P
The homm5 building I would live in: Palace of shadows =P
