All around, I like Chopin's music, but Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C Sharp Minor is my favorite classical piece.

Having been a classical pianist for many years, I have listened to a lot of piano music by a lot of composers, and my favorites would have to be the piano concertos by Rachmaninoff.  However, for strictly innovative and emotional solo pianto pieces, it would either be Chopin, Beethoven or Brahms (not listed).

I am no expert really.. but out of the ones I have listened most - Vivaldi, Sibelius, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven.. Bach is the clear choice. I have no reason for my preference - just the feeling I get when listening to him. I get emotional. I feel it.

But I am interested in listening more Tchaikovsky...

I'm rather sure its not vulva. and perhaps your thinking of Vivaldi?

As for me, I am nonselective, as many composers appeal to me, not the least of which is Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Mozart, and More recently Strauss.

Does Electronic count? Tangerine Dream have had some piano solo's, especially when Peter Baumann was around, from around 1972 (or 73) to about 1977 (or 7). Those were the years when a lot of Piano solos and all that were being made by TD.

Hmm, Liszt just triumphs over Chopin for me, Un Sospiro is my favourite, it's just a shame large parts of it are impossible for me to play

Other favourites:
Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 and Liebestraum by Liszt
Chopin: 1st, 2nd, 8th, 12th, 20th nocturnes (I think), Fantaisie-Impromptu, Revolutionary Etude, 1st Ballade
Sinding's Fruhlingsrauschen
Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakov

Definitely Rachmaninoff. His music is impossible to describe with plain words!

Well I like Beethoven, especially Mondscheinsonate, but I'll go with Bach, though he composed more for the organ than piano...

Edit : Should i start another poll for my next piece ?
Edit : deleted that evil smiley i dun wanna be evil!

Well I'd love to hear Un Sospiro, but I'd be very jealous

Edit: strangely the main part of F-I wasn't too hard to remember (or maybe I've forgotten that it was hard), but the last part, the ending, I still haven't learnt (in fact I've given up), it's just kinda patterned, but not quite regularly, if you see what I mean, which is the hardest thing to deal with IMO. I just wish I was much better at the whole piece, as usual I can't play without making tonnes of errors.

Yes I guess the left hand is easy, but as I said, what makes it hard to remember is the right hand - there is lots of repetition, but also slight variation - repetition is clearly easy to remember, but when there are slight variations my brain gets confused! But you are right, the middle section is just as hard to remember for the same reason, sorry I forgot about that! But memory has never been my strong point, so someone who puts in more work than I do is bound to get it.

Oh, and when you learn F-I, if you're anything like me you'll find yourself drumming out the 4-over-3 rhythm all the time!
