"Real time strategy" battlefields?

As a longtime player of the Total war series, I am beginning to long after a fantasyalternative to the rts games out there. The Warhammer francise tried with the mediocore "Mark of Chaos", but what would you guys think of a spinoff of the HoMM series, with a somewhat more Warcraft or Total War approch, with the entire loveable world of HoMM, but with real time battlefield as in Total War?

I know that the battlefields of HoMM, are close to unique and is something to preserve, but in my opinion what would make the world more accessable to newcomers, and perhaps even create a game that would take the remaning seat which is inbetween the soon to be outdated Warcraft III and the Total War series. Imagine the battle between a band of titans in fight with dragons and a company of Shadow Matriachs?

Could that maybe even be a thing to put in Heroes of Might and Magic 6?

Perhaps as a spin-off, yes... but NOT as a Heroes 6 part.

I agree with Yasmiel.

I think what the game would really offer is a chance to take a more open path with available creatures.

Actually, I've thought about this a little bit myself. I agree 100% that a spin-off should be made. It should be an RTS and takes place in the world of Ashan. There would be all of the races from TotE and each faction would have all of the same creatures and upgrades. As for upgrading creatures, you would have to research the upgrade first, and you would have to research each alternate seperatly ex: go the peasant structure and either choose the upgrade for conscripts or brutes, research it, then you be able to train peaseants and whichever upgrade you researched and in time, you would be able to get the other one. I also have an idea for implimenting heroes into the gameplay. When setting up the game you choose your race and starting hero as usual. But, to lead your armies, you require the hero there to guide them. Think of it this way: your hero has a certain radius around him/her and your troops must be present within the radius in order for you to control them. If not in the radius, you can't control them, but they will automatically attack enemies if they approach them. And of course, your heroes can level up, learn abilities and spells (somewhat similar to warcraft 3 heroes). As your heroes levels up, the larger his/her radius becomes and the larger the army the hero can control.
You will still have your mage guild where your hero will learn spells and the differnt levels of your main building (village/town/city hall and capitol).
I havn't quite figured out the resource gaining system yet. Either you will automatically accumulate a certain amount of gold based on which main building you have, or maybe you could send some of your tier 1 unit to go collect gold and other resources.
Anyways, Heroes 6 should continue the path of the other heroes games and if this were to happen it should stay a spin-off.
