No, really, i wanna know how does he beat the AI. AI is stupid, but even it knows how to press attack, and thats all that sylvan needs.

Yeah, I belived him! It was a time when I was playng against AI on easy. When you learn the gameplay and when you get familiar with the game you play a few times on easy. What is the problem?
But let's make peace and get back on the topic. Agreed my heroes fellows?

I tried.  So you are no longer an academy abuser?  GOW got to you!

I've been doing larger maps with stronghold it's just easy...the game plays itself.  Makes fortress feel like work.

No wizard abuse anymore though I'll play them more once I get the time. Main reason is that I still consider them good and fun but also I don't see many people use them which is a shame.

My current factions obviously show that I needed something simpler for a change.

Two liked factions: Sylvan/Preserve and Stronghold.

Sylvan:
Very high damage potential(Avenger(Max it with Brotherhood+Know your Enemy)+Luck+Destruction(?))
Multi-attack(Sprite series spray, Hunter/Master Hunter, Dragons of COURSE, even War Dance Combo), and Treants(To make sure, for most of thse units, they STAY in appropriate positions/away from you:"Stay!  Good boy.  Now die.  VERY good!")
Early game is....easier than most, though sketchy(Wasp Swarm can be useful, en-mass.  Gets tougher when your targets are immune.)
Interesting abilities(Apart from some of the above mentioned, Unicorns can provide some magic protection just....being there, and the Blinding can be useful.)
Shooters are devastating in general.

On the other hand, to pay for the potential damage, the majority are, or FEEL like, glass cannons, with less health than most.
Avenger can be a pain to set up, even knowing what your opponent is using(Use the Tavern, check the heroes listed.  Since the first hero is always of your race, instantly, you know what you're up against), and has little use whilst fighting around the map-only vs your opponent.
Their music grates.  Those four bloody notes all the time...
The Hero attack seems....silly, and slow.  I only makes sense when Imbue Arrow is used.

Stronghold
Tough units made tougher through Rage as Damage Reduction.
Strong Growth.
Very skilled in War Machines(Don't knock it...You've all seen what a good Ballista can do.)
Rage is always useful during the game.
Warcries tend towards to 'always useful'.
Potential for faster advancement than most(Spell Shrines give 1000 EXPxLevel.)
Warcries do not depend on Spellpower.  They effectively only need 3 of the four stats(Attack, Defence, Knowledge).

It can be hard to KEEP Rage for quite some time, till you've got some levels(Memory of Blood) and the Pile of Skulls.  And the units without Rage are....only so-so.
Warcries have an unlisted level limit before they can be learned-even the basic 2 require Level 2 at minimum.
Few actual Warcries, and not getting what you want is more of an issue because of this, as you can only get Warcries from Strongholds(Or possibly a Stronghold opponent with Battle Lore, but....)
Currently, Ballista+First Aid is their main build for general use...But that blocks Absolute Rage from you(Needs Catapult-Goblin Support-Brimstone Rain).  This is usually not a concern, but it's still an annoyance, given how important Rage is to the Stronghold.
Shatter X is very dependant on your opponent(You need to know what schools your opponent(s) specialises in-what you're likely to encounter.  And even then, an opponent could try to go for something they don't specialise in-Sylvan with Dark, for instance-and make your counter worthless.)
Ballista is not necessarily at FULL strength(Damage is based off Attack+Knowledge.  They get one but not necessarily the other.)

Nitpicking I suppose but the requirements are listed in the fan manual.

Annoyance...

It SHOULDN'T HAVE NEEDED A  ****(&*&*(&*(&*( 'FAN MANUAL' IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!

....I'm sorry, this sort of thing in ANY game-the mechanics and things that they don't bother to explain properly-upsets me MASSIVELY, especially when the information that's not being told is so IMPORTANT.  And Heroes 5 is FULL of this.  And the information could mean the difference between winning and losing.

Maybe.  And at least the game(I ONLY have Tribes) shipped with a lot of useful(though OUTDATED in places-most damming example is the 'Cheat codes' given.....which were disabled QUITE some time ago) documents and files, including the vaunted skillwheel and 'Fan Manual'.

Still, the point stands-I despise not being told about these important things.

You have every right to when you pay. But personally I find this the least annoying, besides if you look at the tribes directory they did include the fan manual. That said I'm glad there were no typos in this version, that was really irritating in the original and HoF

I don't know about that: think on the wording of Powerful Blow, for instance.  It's not clear whether the Crit chance is for ALL hero attacks from then on(Thus making Excruciating Strike bring the Crit Chace to 70%) or for the Powerful Blow only(Meaning 70% with Powerful Blow, 35% on normal strikes....and that's assuming Crit adds up in such a way), and even the Fan Manual doesn't help matters with that.  There's similar confusion with how Deadeye Shot is worded: I was initially looking for a 'Deadeye Shot' ability in the Spell List.

Whilst we're here, one more issue with Stronghold, though it's not entirely fair-this applies to a few factions, though in different ways:

One-Trick Pony.  They really are depenant on their Ballista(Triple Flaming, of course)for their heaviest damage for a long period.  Currently there's nothing quite as effective, at least looking around here.  Of course, with a 15% chance of getting War Machines, it makes sense to use it, but even so...I wish there were more real options, I guess.

Yeah, yeah! I never beat AI on heroic (if u exclude all my games vs AI ) Really , man u have to tell us how u achived this
If AI kicks u on heroic and even on hard , then... It'll be better not to say the things that are at my mind right now ...
Now serious

I saw ur conversation with Doomforge about is necro powerfull in endgame. NoOoOooOOOooOOOoooooOOOOO! Well, maybe it is not so bad, but next to other factions it seems lousy to me U won't have good backbone and strong 7 lvl force. And ur opponent will probably get some arties which fits nice vs necro. As someone said, u'll probably suffer the first attack(and I don't think liches are in perfect fit for this, one of u'r stack is probably dead [omg they'er dead anyway ]). The wraith, the lich and the vamp are the creatures the necro hero will generally operate with. Necro is good in creeping, rushing and has good midgame. Lategame is just terrible

You say you have defeated AI on heroic, and you say that Necro is powerfull on the middle game and not in the end game. Maby you are right. But first, your post is totaly offtopic and I wonder if this is your opinion or is the opinion of other players (experienced ones) that you posted just to post something...
This thread is to post pro and against your favorite town my dear hero and not to have a little Spam. For this we have the Volcanic Wastelands.
