At first I can’t see what is there, and now I’m seeing things that are not there. The day has not been a pleasant one. My spell preparation seems to need a little bit of work.

“Will I not waste time casting spells at invisible demons? I suppose I can stop, for now.”

Grinning, I follow behind the queen.

As the chaos happens within the throne room, I remain neutral and quiet. I just stand around; awaiting what the queen has gathered us for.

“More training, then? Alright. That sounds doable.”

I am almost prepared to leave when Ceres asks her questions.

“My plan? Well, I am not really in the mood for riding right now. After all that fighting with that demon, getting thrown into a bunch of snow does not seem too ideal. I will probably either practice my carving or dancing instead. I think a nice bit of relaxation would be nice now. As for the training portion of my plans? Well, perhaps I will think about them during my practices. Anyway, what are your suggestions? Or would you want to wait before mentioning them? If you want, you could come along and request a carving. Then you could tell of your suggestions while I carve. Or dance, if that is what I end up doing.”

*CLANG* Sparks fly as Mitsu attacks her work with all the anger she has stored up.  The heat is so intense that the other workers besides the most sturdy have abandoned their post, even the rest are showing growing signs of discomfort.  Wearing only enough for modesty, sweat glistens off her as she throws herself into her work.  All she really had to do was give instructions, but she wanted..no needed to do something.

Mumbling to herself about stubborn and pigheaded people, she ignores the fact that she herself can be more so then most.  "Pick up the pace.  Her," the next word more like a growl,"highness wants traps.  She'll get traps."  Turning to one of the less stout of the workers remaining.  "YOU, go deliver a message to the mages in our group.  I have an idea, and would like to have a word with them." he nods and looks at her in awe.  "What are you still doing here!?" and he takes off like the hounds of hades were chasing him.

One of the braver and sturdier of the remaining workers approachers her.  "Hav' ye gon mad?  Ther be Dwarves passin out n' is inferno.  Yer gonna kill yerself."

Mitsu growls, and is impressed when the person doesn't back down. "I was forged in the harshest most demanding environment there is.  My families training grounds.  Next to that, this place is a day at the beach.  Start switching the workers out when they can't take it anymore.  Send somebody for Elvin, I've a few suprises for our foes next we meet."

“Dancing?” I ask with surprise, “I didn’t know you like dancing.”

I cover my lips to hide my chuckle. I don’t really expect Blake is into dancing, it doesn’t really look that he would.  But still, it enlightens my mood and shoves the anxiety away.  It is good. It even relaxes my tense emotion.

“I guess I shouldn’t be disturbing you for a while,” I tell him with a smile, “I’m sorry for being abrupt, I just feel we have a little time left.”

I consider his privacy. I know he had been into a hard time with the invisible demon so I decided to talk about the details later.  In fact, I am not so sure about what I am going to propose to him.  I feel that I need to think more about my plan.  And at this time, I also realize that I need a rest.

“See you later, Blake,” I excuse myself giving him a light pat on the shoulder then leave the room.

“Alright. See you later, then.”

A question comes to mind after Ceres leaves, though.

“I thought I mentioned my dancing to her before… Oh well. It hardly matters. Time to go and do that which I had mentioned I would be doing.”

Thoughts of the day pass through my mind, and a few in particular seem a little humorous. Grinning, I head out the door. Once the thought of having to use laughter to save lives comes to mind, I start laughing just about how I made the girl laugh. And since I was in such a good mood then, I decided to start dancing my way back to our study area, going up a floor or so. Though, looking at the students that may have remained, especially the girl, I can’t help but laugh a little harder. As time passes, the laughing eases down to nothing but the grin.

The carving starts once I am able to control my laughter enough that it’s not hard to control the wood, or the tools. I am nearly finished as the ‘less stout worker’ comes barging in to deliver the message. I carve into my thumb, getting shocked out of my art. I turn my head, glaring at him.

“What…is it!?”

The worker hesitantly delivers the message. I calm myself down some.

“I see. Then I should get going then.”

I rise to my feet and walk over to the door. I turn back to the worker.

“You did barge in on me, though. You should learn to not do that to a wizard. For your lesson on this matter, a demonstration is needed.”

I cast a spell, and grab the worker’s shoulder. All of a sudden, the worker starts dancing.

“A calm entrance would have been preferable.”

I almost leave, and then I turn back with another question. I join in the dancing, mimicking the worker’s movements, since I’m there and have to wait for the question and answer to come out.

“Where am I headed?”

After I am told where to go, and how hot it would be, I set out on my way to the ironworks, preparing for the heat I would have to be facing.

As I arrive, I notice the snow around the door has melted away a fair distance. Even the snow around the stone has melted an inch or so out. I am quite thankful I made a few stops on my way here, to prepare for the intense heat. I just hope it is enough. I step in, and search for Mitsu.

Finding her is not too hard. Just follow the loudest sound there is, and there she is, hammering away. I step up, keeping enough distance to not receive a blow to the head.

“Hello. There was this scrawny, hornless minotaur that went charging into my chosen area of study to get some dancing lessons. He told me that you have an idea. He said that you wanted a word with me, at least. So, here I am.”

Mitsu looks up and grins.  "Yes, yes I have.  You and Ceres are working with the other mages correct?  Well, we have the normal Holy, acid, fire, and such traps here.  I want to...increase their danger.  First I am not sure how your magic works, but I want to try to get the traps attracted to certain kinds of creatures.  This will maximize the damage.  Holy for undead, Acid for giants, and such.  However, that is only part of it.  I want to put other temporary spells on them, things like magic missile or such.  When the traps go off, I want to light up the sky."

Mitsu continues her work as she talks, and is a bit out of breath, but she is in her element here.  Tactics and traps are one of the Ninja's best friends.  "So..what do you think?  Won't detract from the daily ammount of spells if we can somehow extend the spells, and can cause some major damage."

"Traps attracted to creatures? I am not sure about that one. Though, if you wanted the creatures attracted to the traps, I am sure at least one of the students may be able to put a sympathy spell on it. It is not yet in my book, at least. And placing temporary spells on the traps? Well, I am sure it can be done. I just have not had reason to attempt to do so before. We will probably have to study towards that, and see what we can do. Unless, that is, Ceres or Onyx knows a way it could be done, already. And as far as extending spells go, that is another aspect of my castings that I have not focused on. Perhaps someone else has, if it is needed."

I take a break from talking for a bit.

"This all sounds like a nice plan. Was there anything else?"

"The kingdom has certainly changed in a three months," Onyx says as he gazing at the ornate stained glass window of the throne room.  Desiring an even better view of her domain, the Queen-Goddess Moon had the finest glass smiths to create a crystalline mosaic depicting herself sitting on a throne, surrounded by guards, plants, and wildlife of all kinds.  Similar images of the heroes rested on the other walls of the room.  Onyx shifts his gaze to each, taking in their stories.

One depicts a white-werewolf eviscerating a black monstrosity, while another tells the story of a bard singing to a captive audiance in a bar.  Jade's image stands fiercely before legions of enemies, red glass accenting the dozens dead at her feet.  The respective windows of Blake and Ceres reveal a dancing magi, laughing at danger, and a sorcerous raining fire upon dark-skined elves.  Mitsu eyes several guards from a ledge, waiting to strike with a silent blade.  Fine white shards of glass highlight Elvin mercilessly shattering skeletons.  Even the young protector has a window; a one-armed Azagal stabs into a massive fiend with an ebony edge. Onyx smiles as he passes his mirror image standing in a circle of glowing runes.

Three other windows rest in the room.  Two depict the fallen heroes, caputuring their spirit perfectly.  Stefan carefully inching closer to a golden crown, hoping to avoid the gaze of the minotaur near by.  Omega and Topaz are frozen in a clash with the Night Lord, scythe meeting blade and mace.  Gold and black-colored glasses accent the diometric powers.

Onyx stops as he passes the last window.  The word "Sun" is carved under the frame of an incomplete image.

"I am still wondering how she will be remembered."  Moon appears next to the rune master, glancing at the empty frame with a faint frown.  The queen radiates regal grace in her platinum armor and royal blue cape.  Onyx turns to address her, looking her squarely in the eyes.

"You don't think-"

"I have a bad feeling about it.  But enough of that," Moon appraoches her new throne made of enchanted frostwood.  The wood shined with an icy hue, perfectly complimenting Moon's cool demeanor.  Taking the crown and regaining godhood has transformed the relatively carefree ranger into a cold and cautious queen.  "How are the preparations coming along?"

Onyx smiles as he approaches her.  "I must say I'm impressed."

"You?" Moon asks with an incredulous grin.

"Aye.  As you well know, Fate got the word out to our alliance allies.  The response has been nothing short of incredible.  He was able to successfully contact the druid order, who you've already met with.  Berserkers, trappers, hunters; you name it, they responded to our call to arms.  Our ranks have swelled by the thousands.  Whatever he told them, it did the trick."

"Indeed" interjects Moon.

"General Vlad, Jade and Azagal have been training them into a fighting unit.  The General is whipping the regiment into a shape with a ruthless I've never witnessed.  But for as bad as I've heard he is, their are rumblings that Jade is even worse.  Her training sessions are viewed more as a punishment than anything."  Moon laughs at the thought.  "And the newest member of our little cadre," Onyx continues with a smile, "has earned quite a reputation for himself.  Single-handedly slaying a demon and having a mechanical hand has made him quite popular among the young ladies."

"No doubt.  The others?"

"The forges are churning out war machines that have only appeared in the nightmares of little children.  The designs of my appre-former apprentice and Elvin are quite terrifying.  I am looking forward to seeing them used on our enemies."  An almost undectable sense of pride fills his voice.  "She certainly has blossomed into a true master of death."

"She is still a bit upset with me about the whole Sun thing" Moon states flatly.

Onyx proceeds carefully.  "These are difficult times, your majesty.  With little reprieve from the constant horros we face everday, you can not blame her for losing her composure at the banishment of a close friends."

Moon sighs.  "You are correct.  I will have to speak with her about it.  What about the other preparations?  Did Saphire find any clergy?  What about the magi training?  And did you get in touch with Jack?"

"Saphire would make an excellant politican.  She convinced just about every holy man in the region to join our cause.  We can pretty much accomodate any belief and administer any aid our soldiers may need.  As to Blake and Ceres, the training is slow but steady.  Magic isn't something that can be learned quickly.  Well, not for most anyways."

"What do you mean?"  Moon asks curiously.

"One the men who responded to the call, a... a... Hells, I'm not exactly sure of what race he is, anyways his name is Dagoth.  He quickly demonstrated a considerable talent for the eldritch arts.  Frankly, I have never seen a more gifted warlock.  He must have lived quite the life to possess the kind of power he does.  With Ceres, Blake, Dagoth, and my considerable rune magic, our enemies will face arcane fury like they've never witnessed."  Onyx trails off for a bit as his lips form a sinister grin.

"And Jack?"

"Oh yes, I nearly forgot.  I didn't actually meet with Jack, but one of his lieutenants.  I was told, rather cryptically, that Jack was out looking for trump cards."  Moon raises an eyebrow but doesn't interrupt.  "The Shadow Thieves are almost complete in their preparations.  I was told legions of mercenaries have been hired to fight on their behalf, supplementing their hundreds of bandits, brigands, and assassins.  In a month, they will begin to march on Godspire.  That's when they expect the other armies to arrive."

Moon stands up, descends her throne, and glides over to the large image of herself.  "Then we march in a month.  Get the word out."

"As you wish, your majesty."  Onyx bows and walks out of the thorne room.

====================================================

Elsewhere

A lone figure runs through the chilly landscape, rapidly approaching a small, wooded enclosing a few hundred yards ahead.  The night sky renders the individual invisible to the denizens of the countryside.  Even the Moonlight seems incapable of tracking the person's trek.

Within a short time, the enclosing is reached.  Pristine water, vibrant flowers, mighty trees, and hairy critters greet the visitor, looking completely out-of-place in the tundra.  The enchantment in the air stalls the visitor for just a moment, stealing several seconds from the task at hand.

"Ah, here we are."

Three obsidian statues stand at the center of the grotto, looking even more out of place then the environment.  Two statues clash with a third, locked in a seemingly eternal struggle.  The figure runs a hand across the wicked scythe held in the hands of the outnumbered character.  The other hand pushes aside a cloak.  The moonlight dances off several metallic blades lining the cloth as an ancient book is pulled out.

"Now this should be interesting."

The figure opens the book to a marked page and begins to chant words of power not heard for centuries.  The pronouncement of each word hushes the majesty of the grotto, silencing the enchanted life dwelling inside.  The life flowing through the environment is siphoned off as every word is spoken, leaving nothing but dead flora, withered trees, and tiny skeletons of woodland creatures.  As the last word is uttered, energy begins to crackle in the air around the statue.  A rumbling replaces the crackling as purplish energy leaks out of the onyx figurine.  With a bright flash and the sound of a thousand windows shattering, the dark armor crumbles to the ground, revealing the malevolent figure inside.

The revealed figure is silent for a moment, taking in the unusual circumstances of its release.  The scythe lowers as it eyes the remaining statues.  Clacking laughter flows from its skull.

"Glad to see you in such good spirits, oh terrible Night Lord" the visitor alerts the released to his presence.  The Night Lord pivots to face its savior.

"Whhaaatttt haavveeee yoouuu doonnneeee?" The Night Lord asks in an unearthly voice.

"Please, don't rush to show your gratitude.  You might hurt yourself."

"Whhyyy haavveee yoouuu frreeedddd mee?"

"Why, to take your power of course!"

The Night Lord barely raises its scythe before a silver dagger punctures the forehead of the undead god.  The blade swells with negative energies as it sucks the Night Lord dry.  The fiend's body begins to whither and crumble as it is reduced to a fine, white dust.  The visitor clutches the dagger as the Night Lord's energies flow into their new master.

"Ah, that's better," says the visitor turning to face the remaining two statues.  "Man, it looks like you two got the short end of the stick."

The statues stare into obivion as the visitor quickly stows the book away.  The figure turns and exits the grotto, leaving the somber figures of Sunrise Lord Omega and Lady Topaz to their imprisonment.

Mitsu pauses in the forging for a bit.  "Just one thing.  This place it seems old.  There maybe forgotten or hidden items all over the place.  We might need them.  Detect magic would be of little use, but perhaps you, Ceres, or one of the students has another spell that could help us dig some of them up?  Though to be honest, we might want to leave them buried.  Along with the useful items, there maybe some dark or cursed items as well."

"You sent for me my lady?" I come in smiling. Better not to mention anything about Moon, she looks in a good enough mood at the moment. We chat a bit about her ideas, while some sound outlandish or even impossible to make this is going to be a lot of fun. And to be frank I have come to love that kind of work even if I still have a lot to learn.

"I have come up with a few designs as well, mostly on ballistae. I have one improvement, a base that allows for faster rotation - should speed up targeting and shooting. That is for the light ballistae.

For the heavier ones I was thinking to add a second and third composite prod on top of the first so it can shoot three projectiles one after the other. Takes more time to reload but can work well when focusing fire.

Now in case we want to adjust our strategies during battle I have some modifications where the projectiles are concerned. If we rebuild the joints I am confident that we can shoot both spherical and shaft projectiles.

Finally there is the matter of short range, you are gonna like this! It is a rather sizeable contraption with limited mobility but it packs quite a punch. Basically it fires a morning star tied to several chains and after it hits its target you pull a lever to retract the chains and shoot again. It's hard to sneak on someone with that but you could probably teleport it close enough to shoot. As you can imagine that's for really big or tough enemies.

What do you think?"

Mitsu smiles.  "Sounds like a plan to me.  The ones I've come up with on that front would require a bit of ... work." she details her ideas real quick, and the problems behind them. She waves over the mage to see her next plan of attack.

"We need a lot of people who can teleport, and a rather large group of people with some of our new war machines. First they will teleport behind the enemy, and the mages will dig a trench with a spell, then get ready to counterspell or throw up anti-missile barriers.  Meanwhile, the warriors will put oil in the trench, and then start firing on the enemy.  Any enemies that get close, they light the trench.  This is all a diversion, however."

"Meanwhile we will have a juggernaught and launch it via magic or gravity, into the main army.  Then any other diversions you two can come up with.  Our objective is to cause enough chaos to get us in range to take out some of the commanders of the army.  We will then hit and run, causing additional mayhem as we can.  Then we quickly retreat beyond the traps and goad them further.  Cause as much damage as you can, and make them as angry as you can."

At this point, I never thought I'd be steering a desk. Of course, I didn't have a clue where I'd actually end up when I decided to leave my homeland.

There are a couple of scrolls on the desk waiting to be taken out by the messenger.

One of them is addressed to Jade. It states that I'd like her to serve as my second-in-command. It also details the duties that would go along with the position, one of which includes direct command over the infantry.

Another one is set to go to Fate. It's about commanding of the reconnaissance unit, which would also serve as an additional archers should the need arise.

The next one is for Elvin and Mitsu. I need one of them to head the engineering corp. I doubt there's time to allow the engineers to figure out the machines on their own, so thought it best to have them on hand to provide instruction. At first I had considered just addressing it to Elvin as I had read Mitsu as someone who didn't have command aspirations, but I figured to include both of them just to be sure.

My longsword is resting on the desk alongside some unfinished scrolls. "So much writing. Does anyone remember when we used to solve all our problems with violence? Ahhh, the good ol' days..."

As I shift in my chair, I notice something caught in one of the inner chain links of my chain mail jacket. It's a little amulet with an embedded sapphire stone. "Huh. I thought I lost this when that first tavern collapsed. Guess it's time for a drink."

I enter the city of Frosthold. I'm glad. In fact, I've never been happier. No more wandering or being chased out of local hamlets. I'm a part of something, now. I am supposed to register with some guy and wait till the call of arms is being given or somethong. So I walk to the nearby barracks and, luckily, I see a poster with some fighter pointing at you. It says: "Vlad wants you!" So I think I can sign up here. The man sitting there is quite young. He looks up. I cover up my face a bit so he won't make any face.

guard: yes?
Me: Hi I'm reporting for duty.
guard: Name?
Me: Gares, Dagoth Gares
guard: *sarcastic undertone* funny
Me: I couldn't resist
guard: it says here that you're an adequate mage?
Me: yup
guard: What can you do?
Me: Uhmmm... I can make ice shoot from the floor.
guard: *raising an eyebrow* I see, well here are the forms and the basic cloak so we can see you're one of us.
Me: thx
guard: you're welcome, just fulfill your duties and don't exploit anyone...

I take my leave, while investigating the city. Frosthold is a quite multi-cultured city. I could see gnomes, elves and humans, but no drow... I wonder why. I pass the local watering hole where I hear the tune of "all the fair ladies". I start humming a little bit.

"All the fair ladies
scrumptuous with delight
all the fair ladies
truly worth a fight

I went to neverwinter
couldn't believe me eyes
a lovely drow, Slender
filled my head with sighs

all the fair ladies..."

I can't remember a lot of the song come to think of it. So I enter another tavern called "the sober song". I sit down near the bar. I address the barkeep: "cheery sign ya got there." "Aye, it's dreadful I know, but I just never have the time ta remove it, ya know? So? What ya havin'?" he said to me. I order a "shady's Moonshine". So I sit there and talk about the recent events that happened in Frosthold. I was taken a little by surprise 'cuz I never heard about demons so close by. I tip of the barkeep and was on my way when someone stops me. He looks like an old war veteran. He was a bit drunk and has an eye missing. He grabbed my fine hat and shouted to a buddy nearby: "TOLD YA!" The other man asked: "Where d'ya get those red marks from, lad?" I look him straight in the eye and say: "I was a soldier who fought in Underdark. They took me captive and infused me with dark magic. Luckily I got away." I was able to convince him and he responds to the man with my hat: "told ya." The man isn't very happy about my response and pulls my hair. He sees what he was looking for. "And I s'pose that they just magically added horns too." he said in a very rude way. The other man's eyes open up.

It was heard throughout the streets: "TIEFLING, TIEFLING!" A bunch of men gathered and started to fight. Problem was that they didn't know who they were fighting... I used a bit of confusion magic, I admit, but once he let go of my hair, I punched him in the face and grabbed my hat... The man wasn't very happy as you would assume. He punched me back and I felt my nose break. I laughed and straightened it back (fiendish resilience) We had an old-fashioned barfight. As wonderful as it was, I left after my ability ran out. It was very easy, but suddenly a soldier grabs my shoulder. "DON'T STAND ABOUT, MAN! WE HAVE TO STOP THIS RIOT!" he shouted. I notice that the fighting expanded with the other drunks and that some are being caught up with it... Damn... Why is there always trouble when I'm around?

I sigh and help the few guardsmen stopping the fight... It was actually still a bar fight, most were drunk or just plain enjoying a fight, but nonetheless, I had to help 'cuz of my job...

The barkeep was refunded with a royal document promising a small percentage (0.06 percent or somthin') of the city's treasury. I got a free stay, there, and spent the night.

Next morning I wake up and decide to see the sights in Frosthold. After a few hours I realise that Frosthold either has no culture or it's extremely boring. 'Cuz it's very cold, I went to the "sober song" and took some of the local delicacies like fat tongue and a drink called "dwarven knock". I am able to hold my liquor(demon heritage and all) so it wasn't very much of a knock, just a small pat on my shoulders. I then decide to visit the library, dunno why. Maybe I am interested in the literature of Frosthold concerning Drows or maybe the "dwarven knock" had more of an effect then I thought.

I am also sure we can get some spells upon these weapons, in some way. I shall go and get some of them, and bring them back here. We can then see if this will work.”

I head out to fetch a group of the mages, a return with them after some time.

“Alright. We need to start working on placing spells on these weapons; or, at least, trying to figure out how. We need the spells to activate as they hit their targets. Oh! And Mitsu has mentioned that there may be buried or hidden artifacts around the area. If any of you are able to attempt to find any of them, they may help to aid our cause. Though, also mentioned, they could be cursed items. So, keep that in mind. We will continue with the studies of the arcane arts, but putting as much of your extra time as you can towards these goals will be most helpful. Now, go and begin.”

As the students disperse, I turn back to Mitsu and Elvin.

“I think we can expect progress in those plans of yours. Most of those students have taken up some interests different from my own, and may be able to come up with something faster than I. Though, I was wondering if one of Onyx or your runes could, perhaps, seal another person’s spells in the way we were thinking. If so, and even if only a few spells could be sealed at a time, we could begin the process of placing the spells on these weapons, well, almost right away.”

"Ok, time to show you what I got" says a sweaty dwarf in a sooty apron.  The master smith pulls out a lone scroll and hands it to Mistu.  The amount of detail in the blue print is staggering, but Dolf Rockcrusherhas has always had a reputation for being meticulous.  The design is of an enormous, twenty barrel cannon with a strange funnel system attached to barrels from the back.  The feeding system is supported by a very a minature tower.  Two massive wheels lie on the either side of the weapon. each about twenty feet in diameter.  Apparently Dolf has never heard of the term overkill.
"I call this the war machine the Demolisher.  Just point it at the thing you want to die and ignite the fuse.  Bam!" The dwarf throws his stocky arms up as he shouts the onomatopoeia ((OCC:  That's right.  I used a word we all learned in elementary school that none of us uses on a daily basis.  And if you do, you're just weird. ))  No more demons, tentacle freaks, or giants left!  Even better, the feeder system I designed for the back will allow us to fire around five shots for each cannon.  You're look at a hundred shots of pure devastation."  The smith looks immensely pleased with his design.

He takes the scroll from Mitsu's hand and places it on a nearby table littered with hammers and clamps.  Then he grabs a strange looking tool and tosses it to Mistu.  Azagal's master-crafted hand shakes Mitsu's in a disturbing fashion.  "It's all yours to enchant.  Just be careful with the blades."  True to the warning, five menancing blades lie at the base of the knuckles, just waiting to strike out.  "Now, have you two decided on the machines you want?  By my estimate, we have enough material for three of them."  The smith then turns to Ceres and Blake.  "What do you two think?"

===================================================================

As Fate winds his way towards the castle, he can't help but notice the large crowd gathered around a newly completed structure.  Dozens of soldiers (taking a quick breather from Jade's sadistic training sessions), clergy, citizens, children, and even the newest focus of gossip, a young warlock named Dagoth, are in attendance.  The city's newest tavern, the Bard's Muse, sits comfortably in the center of the city's plaza.

Saphire is talking to the gathering crowd, saying words of thanks and promises of good times in her new bar.  "My friends, today marks the realization of mine:  to own my own tavern.  To commemorate this glorious day, the first round of drinks is one me!"  Thunderous applause and cheers ring from the crowd.  Almost drowning out a strange whistling sound coming from they sky.  "What in the Hell is that?" Saphire asks as she looks skyward.

"RUN!!!" screams a soldier from the crowd and the crowd flees in a panic.  After a frantic sprint, Saphire looks up to see a gigantic tower plummet to the earth crushing her life-long dream under a hundred tons of ivory concrete.

Once the dust and panic settles, the crowd finds itself staring at a figure leaning over a balcony on the tower.  Saphire looks on, completely mortified at the senseless destruction of her tavern.  Several of the parents in the crowd quickly cover their childrens' ears at the stream of profanity flying from the bard's mouth.  The sheer filth spwering from her mouth causes several soldiers to flinch and a few of the weaker women to faint. When her voice finally left her, not a soul dared to utter a word, none save Jarvus.  "Oh, the bard girl.  Good to see you again.  Could do me a favor and get Moon for me?" he asked, completely oblivious to the fact his tower destroyed her dream.

"You there!  New guy!" Saphire shouts raspidly at Dagoth.  "Go get the queen and let her know that Jarvus the Ass is here!"  Her crimson expression coupled with the bulging vains in her neck tell the young warlock that compliance would be a very wise idea.

===================================================================

"Do you like it, general?" asks a young man dressed in foreign clothing to Vlad.  "Lord Odera, regrets he can not do more for the war effort.  His grace was only able to send this beloved creature and told us to deliver it to the general."  How on earth anyone managed to capture and tame a wild unicorn would reamin a mystery to Vlad for the rest of his life.  Strangely enough, the beast remains incredibly gentle, even when adorned with platinum chain mail and the colors of the Queen.  The ultramarine cloth with a silver, crowned moon hangs freely under the exquisitely crafted armor, just as it does with the soldiers.  "Lord Odera bids you good riding."  The foreign man bows and quickly departs.

Colonel Jade lets out a low whistle.  "That's one heck of a nice gift.  I wonder whe-what was that?!"  A loud crash echoes through the walls, stirring the soldiers, yet not the unicorn.

I stand in shock as I see the tower impale the newly constructed tavern.
I look at Jarvus and say:

"It's nice to see you again...but don't you think you could've picked a better place to land?"

I grimace as I point to the destroyed tavern and then to an irate Saphire. I eye the nearest way out of the area, lest Saphire drags the tower mage into a heated argument.

OOC: alright, this is where I come in, doing menial tasks for everyone (just kiddin')

BIC: Great, a big tower-like structure fell down from the sky with some flaming imbecile called Jarvus The Ass, just happened to fall down from the sky when I'm on duty. Ow, well, at least I get to see the queen. I cast the aptly named spell "flee the scene" and make my way towards the queen.

(I wonder how I will enter the fortress... (in my head)
-You wanna speak to the queen? What's this regarding?
-A huge tower fell from the sky with someone who's name is "The Ass" and he requested an audience with her.
-(hits me in the face)No more dwarven knock for you!)

Anyways I make it to the keep where th throne room is. I enter the throne room and see a proud woman wearing platinum armor and a blue cape. "Your Majesty? Jarvus The, ehmmm... Ass... is here."

Mitsu consults with Elvin.  "Depending on if you mean 3 besides your idea or including it.  If it is including it, then it, elvins balista, and the juggernaught.  If not, add the spear launcher.  As for material, depends when we can march.  Thanks to the spell create item and permanency we can make more material.  But only if we have time.  We still have to enspell these traps, and such as well."

FINALLY!! PILLOWS!!COME TO ME OH KINGDOM OF SMOOCHY SOFTNESS!!

Eventhough he was exhausted and his body felt like it weight atleast 1 ton nothing absolutely NOTHING could stop Azagal from hurling himself into the awesome bed whose every centimeter promised fulfilment and relief. While flying through the air and crashing on to the bed nothing in the world could touch him! Of all foul things in the world nothing could reach him here in his superb fortress of cuddlyness. Lying there compfortly smileing sadisfied he drifted off into thought...

What a peculiar day indeed... you meet your former master, turns out he's a demon, I'm in a "to-the-death" fight against a demon and watch 2 people get slaugthered...

The big fat smile of pure contentedness lost a bit of it's size until it slowly vanished only to be replaced by a more serious-yet-not-sad expression. A mosquieto comes buzzing by and lands on his right arm. Of all the fair creatures in this world whom Azagal naturally respected and cared about the Mosquieto was his mortal enemy!

....stupidrottendirtybuggerfacedfoulmouthed....

He hauls out with his left arm to send the rotten creature to meet his creator!

DIE!!

His left arm comes crashing down like a hammer on the anvil..... only to knock himself clumsily on the chest. The mosquito flys away unharmed and pleased with himself having sucked out enough blood to raise a new legion of his annoying kind!! Azagal gives his best attempt at killing the thing with an immensly evil glare which must have looked more stupid than mortifying. He then glances at the purple thingy beneath his elbow resembling the rest he had left of his left arm.

Oh yeah.....riiiiight...and I lost an arm... What a day, what a day!

Completly convinced that problems would be solved at a latter point of the day he finally surrendered himself to the comfy heaven that was his bed.

"Reporting for duty Lieutenant Azagal, Sir!!!"

The loud voice of the soldier rips him from his daydream. Back in the present he found himself looking at the metallic mechanism that now was his left arm. He smiled.

My my...the things that can happen during a few weeks.

He smiled a bit wider.

"Yes yes my dear I've sent for you. Please go to see the general and tell him that I would like to discuss a a matter concerining our troop training. If he has time please notify me immediately. I will be in the forge. That's all"

"It will be done Sir!" The soldier then ran out of the barracks on the shortest way to the general.

"The rest of you will continue your training.... Oh and before I forget did my order arrive?"

"Yes Sir, here you go Sir!" A soldier carrying a small bouquet of white lillys steped out of the ranks handing the flowers to Azagal.

"Wonderfull thank you. Now back to work everybody."

With these words he put on his cloack and left the barracks. He smiled when he heared the sound of dozens of swords  crashing down on shields and the men shouting commands.
They men had developed nicely. But Azagal wasn't satisfied yet. Sure they knew the basics of swordfighting and they made good use of sword and shield. The men had certainly improved, most were now adept swordsman.
While this certainly was enough to deal with normal foes you encounter in a war it wasn't enough however to deal with the real threats of the enemy. While he and Jade had fastend their soldiers resolves and made both their spirits aswell as their bodys ready for war they hadn't started with any finetuneing yet.
They lacked an elite task force. It simply hasn't been possible as their first priority had been to ensure the overall fighting ability of the entire army before they could start training individuals. In Azagals eyes the masses were now slightly above to above average which was already a huge achievement considering the numbers they've had to train. This was enough in his eyes for him to take his attention from training the masses and start to focus on training individuals he and Jade deemed capable of becoming elite fighters within the short time they had left.
Training would most certainly be demanding... very demanding but in the end they just might eventually have a small cadre of extremly dangerous fighters.
But all this was speculation for now as the general would be the one to decide whether the masses have been prepared sufficiently and whether Azagal was to put his energys into this task.

Azagal enjoyed walking through the city. He took his time, looking arround, following the daily lives of the people he saw. Sometimes he longed for a bit of a normal life. He had missed so much... But then he had no regrets with his life so far and he ment it to stay that way. Whie walking he was careful not to expose his mechanical arm from underneath his cloak. Eventhough it was a sight to behold and a magnificent technical achievement he didn't want any attention for the moment.
He didn't go directly to the forge and instead went to the chapel. After a few minutes walk he arrived. He didn't talk to anyone and only asked a monk where the graves of the people were who had died in the castle during the demon attack. He shortly described the person he was looking for and how she had died. The monk seemed to know who he was talking about and lead Azagal to a grave outside in the graveyard. Before the monk left Azagal also asked him where he could find Stephans grave. When the monk left Azagal stood a while silently before the grave of the dead mother, whos children Onyx and he had so desparately tried to protect. He lay down his white lillys at the tombstone of the woman.

"I am sorry."

Not wanting to disturb her peace any longer he left and went to Stephans grave. He hadn't brought any flowers for him. Somehow he hadn't feet like it. Azagal felt some strange kind of respect for Stephan. He stood before his grave speechles...a bit lost.

"I...I just wanted to say thank you. I will not let my life go to waste that easily again."

He bowed and quietly left for the forge to find Mitsu.
