Awesome? too bad their stats are very, very poor, and they are the weakest level7 unit when it comes to damage/week except undead dragons without horde dwelling.
Not very impressive if you ask me ;-x

Poor? Better defense (1, but still...), Initiative, speed and health. Damage isnīt that great, I agree, but that -3 to luck isnīt anything to laugh at.
I think that Blood-eyes are awesome, even if Untamedīs can dish out much more damage.

Have you taken into account Blood Rage? The only drawback of cyclops is their speed and initiative (hence the importance of divine guidance and wotc).
Untamed can take down the gates of a town (really useful when you get a large stack but still that's useful when you only have your hero, ballisat, sky daughters and centaurs to attack the enemy safely cuddled up behind the walls thus not improving your blood rage much -especially when facing Academy with gremlins disabling your catapult and titans getting lucky hits against your troops).
