Battle for Honor for TOE

I took the permission of trying to update this map in order to contain some of the new features in TOE.

Change log:

-Added a free Memory Mentor near the secondary town.
-Added a Shaman's Flag(+10% hit points) near the Arch devils guardians
-Added a spell shop near each of the teleporters guarded by a pack of random lvl 6 creeps.
-Added Astrologers between the two towns.
-Added a Magma Shrine in the middle zone.
-Enabled all spells and ToE artifacts.
-Map name and description Updated to show ToE compatibility

Disabled Artifacts: Angel Wings, Wands and Scrolls.
Disables Spells: Instant Travel.

Battle For Honor TOE

PLEASE HOST THE MAP ONTO A SERVER WHICH WILL NOT DELETE IT (TOH)

I'll try to update a few other popular maps in the future.

Thanks okrane Could you perhaps move the spell shop in each players starting area? It is already a race to get to the middle, the one who gets there first should not gain even more of an advantage. Also could you disable weeks that boost creature growth? A single week of the hunter can unbalance the game both because of the town boost and the neutral hunters that will join you.

Oh you may want to add a memory mentor too.

well, yeah, but it's a game of chance it can work both ways. How about adding a Astrologer to both sides.

I mentioned creature weeks because might factions benefit more. I guess astrologer's tower works too.

It seems that you forgot to enable Tote artifacts and spells on the map.
Btw the memory mentor was a good addition, but I agrre with Elvin, the spell market (or whatever ) should be accesible on both players's side (imo with some tougher guards such as pack of tier 6s. I've made a version in which I enabled the new spells and arties, but it needs a look from a skilled mapmaker, though. Homm5 editor gives me the creeps .

Btw should you check the enable all spells button don't forget to disable instant travel Oh and if you disable ring of speed/staff of netherworld prepare for the criticism of your life Apparently most tohers are against banning artifacts.

No I wasn't that radical . I disabled Instant travel, Angel wings, scroll of [x], and wand of [x] only. I can upload it if you wish. Btw I didn't put spellshops to starting areas.

Edit: Also sextant was disabled. And I found a spell named "Call to arms" about which I'm 90% sure that it's something specific stuff, so I didn't enable it.

Also my version could easily be bugged too, as I mentioned I lack editor experience.

That call to arms is campaign specific. There was also that spell that summons a town Anyway sounds about right, the artifacts you banned seem a reasonable choice.

Unfortunately I am already testing Vlaad's return of the king so I don't have the time to check it.

About the mentor: well, I can put some guardians near it, although as it costs money to retrain and you're not sure of getting what you want I don't see the necessity of keeping it guarded.


Magma shrine: it just replaced some trees. If it's useless why bother...

I dunno what's the problem with the memory mentor. Games on this map last until 4th or 5th week, so 2500 gold/skill still hurts a bit since you may end up being offered the same sometimes. Also, I think you won't get close enough to ultimate eveb in the endgame.

Of course, I'm not the Toh player, so I may be wrong.

none of my business anyway.. once needed to play bfh, which is quite interesting map with lousy aesthetics, did for TOE in 30sec then recycle bin. enabling new stuf is one thing, adding stuf is another

a memory mentor is the instrument for the noobs and ruins all the carefully built strategy.
pay to repair the mistakes of the past?!.
it's not so realistic and when, sometimes,  it's really possible, should be more painful/expensive.

u just walk and collect skills with no worries,  no plan , no nothing relying on the mentor to rebuild everything consideringthe other player development too, (if u wise). so the "secret" strategy will be no longer a major surprise , just because u can switch from defense to sorcery, or getting a warlords luck, if u got "unlucky" during entire game, any time of the game.

i would use memory mentor in a map IF i modify the script to give him only 2 attempts to learn/unlearn skill, not more.

try to add banks or anythingelse that could be of some use for both players, or similar buildings for each to create a balance, considering might and magic side. magma has no place in it.

i personally modify the guards
adding mixed stacks like :
(devils, blackies and ghost dragons) or.
or (titans , bad renegade angels and magma) or any pack that wont ruin the morale completelly and put up a challenging fight. and both guarding pack the same for each side.

I don't agree. It just adds a new dimension to the game. Making you more likely to adapt to certain changes, like unexpected creeps, enemy hero strategy or even plan some changes.

As long as it's available to all players I don't see why it's noobish or smth. If noobs can successfully use it it means that they will waste their money on this, so pros still have the advantage of good planning.

Furthermore pros would know how to take advantage of this mentor and come up with a strategy that includes it, surpassing our every day noob.

About changing the guardians: well, that would completely change the map. Mixture, or changing the creatures will affect the way the map is played. That is something I did not want to do. All I did were some minor changes in order to be able to use the new ToE features(spells, arties, locations) in a popular map.

But all I see is everyone is in my back. So, you don't have to download it, you don't even have to thank me for trying to improve something, if you don't like it, make one better!
