As I said I had the mana, circle of winter and the icicle. This WAS a favourable game. Regardless you should normally defeat your guardians, I was running out of mana so I backtraked a bit to visit the well first.

All I built in town was mage guild 3, furies(which apparently did not help much) and stalkers. Should have gotten the trade guild.

Even so, if you get magmas or blacks its not so easy to break in week 1.

Gave it another try. This time no enlightenment early and even secrets popped late while I was leveling my destructive and irresistible magic. I was with 20 mana until the last day before I broke where I got helm of chaos and dragon bone greaves from trade guild. On visiting the well I got 70 mana and my 8 spellpower was enough to deal with the magmas but then had little mana to attack the pitlords. Which were lots

Told ya . I'm always right, you know . I need to find a way to level up very fast and reach level 10-12 in day 5, regardless of the creeps.
Maybe i have to play to do that.

Of course Available mana, creeps and how fast you get secrets/enlightenment can decide a lot in the beginning but lvl 10 should be pretty possible.

To divert the discussion a bit you had mentioned battle for honor week 2. Do you bother to get the second town and the gold mine or clear central, then west area and devils? Or titans I guess not much of a difference for a warlock - at worst you may lose a couple of stalkers.

Strange, i thought i've replied to that message. Hmm... Well, i cant remember the exact route, but i recall getting 2nd town, gold mine and everything in the way, but not deviating from my route. Then headed for devils.

Tested the new HoD with Haggash, game ended on day 11. I've got memory, powerful blow, battle frenzy, archery and triple ballista (all skills on expert). I got bloodeyed cyclopes and magmas. I didn't need warmachines triple ballista isn't that uber without flaming arrows, logistics would have been better for her. I was lvl 11 at week 2 day 1 when I attacked the cyclopes, without visiting the level-up tree. Despite  this, I think Kragh is better for this map. Will try it next time .

I dont wanna spoil your enthusiasm, but... if you had fast flying guards you would suffer losses (centaurs). At this stage of the game, centaurs are too important, loosing them means instant death. If you face a powerful mage, you'll be dead. To be able to win you need ranged units, because you might be finished off before ballista kills your opponent's army. Its not about breaking fast, its about breaking fast to increase your chances to win.

Yeah I agree. This map is ruled by heavy casters, not by creatures (especially those might factions suffer that rely on one specific creatures like haven and orcs). Of course orcs can't stand a chance vs dungeon here (or vs emeralds and crystals). I just wante to show that you can do it with barbs.

Sure, orcs are very powerful and great rushers, even in this map (and easy to play i might add). Dungeon isnt strong, i dont know why people in HC think that. But, for might factions, i suggest to NOT break, but levelup as fast as they can in order to withstand the attack. If a necro/warlock/wizard breaks early and fights a very well-built barbarian, things will not be that easy.

Don't get me wrong. Dungeon is strong in the earlygame (first 3 weeks I may say), but not potent in endgame (only possible tactic is hit n runs). So I think we can agree that on a map where game ends in 2nd week usually dungeon is one of the best. (Though HoD has schackles of lost man which can cause problems for warlocks). On larger maps dungeon is dead meat

Greetings!
I just downloaded this Heritage of Deleb map It looks quite good! I wanted to ask...I started the map with random faction random hero and got Heaven.(which is quite favourable for me) But I broke the tier 7 guardian, Spectral Dragons, and Pitlords only at the end of week 3.(or day 1 week 4?...) But you ppl say the map can be finished at day 11!?...Does this mean I am a crappy player?
It's true that I do not rush at all, expecting some larger scale battle with the AI later, and I normally don't engage the neutral stacks unless I can kill them without (or almost no) loss. And most of all, I don't play this game that often...twice per week is good for me() and I don't know much about the new alternate upgrades...having not played the campaign at all!(Eh this means I am playing ToE version)
But...how the heck() do you finish this map on day 11? Rush through the 2 guardians to Deleb ASAP? Give the rest of army to her and let Deleb attack the AI castle?  I believe the objective of this map is to kill AI right?...
Please, share your method of finishing this map in the crazy way with meh...

It's not possible to do it with all factions nor something you can do every time. Generally spellcasting factions can break faster.

After looking at the map HoD with mapeditor and figuring out the possible route to take , I took a few attempts on it. I was able to break on day 7 3times out of 4 tries. 3 of the attempts with Sinitar and 1 with Yrwanna. To my surprise , my best attempt was with Yrwanna, finished day 5 with level 12 and 13sp 5knowledge. But I think the level depends mostly on luck.

On all my attempts , I used fury. How do you do the tier 3 creeps if you have low mana(due to bad luck) and creeps are fast unit without fury?

If they are slow(speed 4) you can run around with maidens and kill them with your hero. Otherwise skip them till you get the mana or move on to the next you can kill.

I just played the map with Orc faction...It's actually the first time I use orcs in a custom game.
To my surprise, I finished the map on day 12...under hard difficulty. I had never thought this faction capable of such a crazy rush. Of course I got lucky that the 2 tier 7 guardian were Cyclops and Lava Dragons. (no flying unit!) But still, that was quite impressive...I have been trying with Haven, the only one faction I have played seriously, with no luck!! With Haven I could only break the first tier 7 and get Deleb out of the jail on day 8~9 and then playing normally...

Flaming ballista or excruciating strike are very effective. That's why I like the orcs, effective from earlygame till endgame.

That and they are pretty much straightforward.  Skills and tactics are not as complicated, and a whole lot of fun.
