Empires

I noticed how in most of the Heroes games, it all feels very compact, you need to imagine the hordes of troops, the beautiful landscape, etc. etc.

Heroes 5 made this a little better by introducing a Town Camera.

But what if everything was to be done on a massive scale. You may have read my recommendation for a completely reworked battle system. What if the maps became so massive, that there would no longer be any jokes about how you can travel so little each day? It would have to be seriously well considered, because what I propose here is enough to make a game have outrageous system requirements.

But it's not outside of possibilities. Imagine a game where your town begins as a small village, maybe a little more. With each day or week, the population of the town workers would grow and so would the economy. For example, you'd start with a small village consisting of roughly a few hundred "workers" who can be assigned to do various things, mainly collect gold, train to add to your creature growth, possibly even build buildings in several turns or maybe explore. Now this idea would mean completely abandoning the original type of gameplay so it would require serious considertaion but if integrated into the game properly, it could be a huge improvement.

Basicaly, my request is to make the game let you feel like it is really an empire you are controlling. It would only be numbers on the screen, but not even RTS games have matched what it means to control an empire consisting of 100 thousand villagers.

Again, this is all just food for thought, but then again, so is everything in the Alter of Wishes.

If heroes 4 made a company bankrupt (well not really. 3DO was bankrupt and pretty much took down NWC with it) Then this will quite likely do so .
All the same i lik ethe idea. but outrageous system requirements can make life difficult for everyone

Indeed it would. Still, if the idea used some revisions, I think it could work. Maybe the developers of the next game could actually revise their ideas or at least look at ideas revised on these forums...

Weren't those games like Crusaders of Might and Magic and such that bankrupted it? HoMM IV perhaps by not being as successful as HoMM III could not save the company from it's situation... But what if they hadn't wasted money in those failed projects, maybe 3DO could have survived Heroes IV.
