I am walking alone in the forest. It's an early hour of the morning, and I'm tired and wounded. I didn't stop walking for a moment the entire night. I have been lost since the attack, and who knows if I survive. I haven't seen a strong sun light since I espaced, those huge trees block the light...
Actually, I'm quite lucky I'm not already dead by now. My wounds look terrible, and just looking at them makes me feel worse. I have no food with me, but I found a spring hiden on the bottom of a hill. Drinking the water helped me a bit, but I had to continue searching for something in order to survive, and I had to leave the spring behind.
I have no idea what I am looking for anyway. Nobody knows what to look for when he or she is lost on the forests. The most die. I heard a tale once, about those who safe the lost, those who safe the ones that escape from the wars and look for something to help them in the forests.
I can see something. I better move slowly towards it. It looks like a spot of light in the middle of nowhere. But something is moving there. I still can't see what is it. I can see it now! It's a clearing. I heard that those people can be found on the clearings of the forests. The moving thing right there... It might be them!
There is a large strange structure on the middle of the clearing, although it's not very wide one. The structure is a several, maybe a dozen of vertically standing rectangle rocks. People seem to circle those weird shaped rocks. They are wearing clocks and some of them have wands and staffs. It looks like they are doing a ritual ceremony, maybe they are praying, but I've never seen a thing like that before.
I feel it won't be a dangerous step to walk towards them. I'm getting closer. Now I'm hidden behind a wide tree, which stands at the edge of the clearing. One more step and I'll be on the clearing, completely visible for them.
I'm taking this step. They are looking at me, looking at these terrible wounds I have. Everything is getting blurry. I think they are stopping to circle the rocks. Everything is becoming darker. They reach out reach out for help. I see nothing but black.

The beautiful Celtic mythology has been almost forgotten on HOMM, although its core is what some other famous mythologies are based on. The druids are only a part of the Celtic honorable beings (there were also the Bards and the Vates), but the most famous and the most intresting, in my opinion. This faction is supposed to bring the magical spirit of the Celtic mythology to HOMM.

Creatures

Tier 1:

Tier 2:

Tier 3:

Tier 4:

Tier 5:

Tier 6:

Tier 7:

The beast creatures in the Druidic order are devided to elements. The creatures themselves don't have the "Elemental" ability, this is only the way for the Druids to symbolize the connections (the chains) between their creatures. To understand more, read about the Druidic racial skill (the next part).

Earth: Forest Gnome - Gnome Builder | Pech
Fire: Spriggan - Spriggan Sentry | Golden Spriggan
Water: Kelpie - Frost Kelpie | Each Uisge
Air (wind): Gwyllion - Sunlight Gwyllion | Moon Gwyllion

Racial Skill: Chaining
Also known as: Channeling

The Druidic heroes (Channelers) are able to channel between their creatures and to create chains between them.
A chain between two creatures causes:
1. When one creature attacks, damage from the other creature on the chain will be caused.
2. When one creature on the chain suffers damage, the other creature on the chain will suffer damage.
3. When one creature attacks, non-actived abilities (like Bash, Blinding attack) of the other creature in the chain may apply on the attacked creature.
4. Positive and Negative effects on one creature on the chain may apply on others.
Creatures
Channeling works better with creatures that have opposite elements (complete each other), than with creatures that have elemtal relation (they have a partial connection only). Channeling doesn't work at all for creatures with the same element.

Basic Chaining: On a chain with a partial connection, when a creature attacks, 50% of the damage of the other creature on the chain will be also caused to the enemy, and when the creature suffers damage, the other one will suffer 50% of it.
On a chain with a complete connection  when a creature attacks, 100% of the damage of the other creature on the chain will be also caused to the enemy, and when the creature suffers damage, the other one will suffer 100% of it.
Advanced Chaining: On a chain with a partial connection, when a creature attacks, 55% of the damage of the other creature on the chain will be also caused to the enemy, and when the creature suffers damage, the other one will suffer 45% of it.
On a chain with a complete connection  when a creature attacks, 100% of the damage of the other creature on the chain will be also caused to the enemy, and when the creature suffers damage, the other one will suffer 90% of it.
Expert Chaining: On a chain with a partial connection, when a creature attacks, 60% of the damage of the other creature on the chain will be also caused to the enemy, and when the creature suffers damage, the other one will suffer 40% of it.
On a chain with a complete connection  when a creature attacks, 100% of the damage of the other creature on the chain will be also caused to the enemy, and when the creature suffers damage, the other one will suffer 75% of it.
Ultimate Chaining: All the chains get a complete connection.

Abilties for the Chaining skill:
Invisible Chains: The enemy hero cannot see the chains between the Channeler's creatures.
Energy Conduction: After a successful hit of one creature in the chain, the ATB value of the other one will increase as well.
Lighten Chains: The chance of positive effects to apply on a creature in the chain, after they were applied on the other one, is increased by 15%, and the chance of the negative effects, is descreased by 15%.

History

You pick up this old book out of an ancient chest. It seems like a Diary of someone, probably someone that died ages ago... It's written by hand. Besides of that, nothing about it looks special. You have no idea that the story of the Druids is buried inside this book.

You flip the page and you see that the rest of the diary is missing.

Campaign Story

The campaign starts with a short film.

A man is running among the tress. He reaches to a wide lighten refuge and shouts loudly "Ronald is dead!"

Narrator: "The story began as Ronald, the 2nd Druid in the world, that found the way to immortality, has been found dead in his house."

The scene fades, and you see tens of Druids praying and mourning around a stonehenge.

Narrator: "But Ronald's death didn't make everyone sad. Some saw this as an... Opportunity..."

The background music becomes tensive.

The scene fades into a man walking to a wooden house in the night. He knocks on the door, and a woman opens it. "What do you want, William?" she asks. He says: "I only one to offer you something, Beata..."

Narrator: "When such of a person, who was almost a real leader, dies, things in the Druidic Order start to get a bit out of control."

The picture fades into a crowd of protesting Druids.

Narrator: "Meanwhile, secret alliances are being signed"

You see William and Beata shaking hands in the darkness.

The background music becomes louder.

Narrator: "And sides in an upcoming struggle are being created.
But this is not the only problem that should concern the High Council of the Druids."

The scene fades and you see Demons wearing armor on an lava terrain, forging weapons and getting prepared to an attack...

The scene fades, the music stops and turns to peaceful.
You see a man and a woman laying in bed, in the morning. The woman is Beata. The man asks her:
"Something happened, dear?" She answers: "Nothing special, Paul..."

Close up on hair face, and the music becomes loader, until it breaks.

Narrator: "Choose you side"

You choose which hero you will be and the mini film ends.

there are going to be 4 options in this campaign.
You'll have to choose between:

Ronald
Paul
Beata
William

Ronald starts on level 10, a huge adventage over the other characters. However, his missions are very difficult and he has much more challenges to face with. First of all, he has to dicover where is he, how did he get there, to get out of there, just to find out that he left the Druidic Order in a huge mess.

Paul has to manage all the protestions against what's going on in the Druidic Order, after the death of Ronald. He has to pass the dangerous forests in order to recapture refuges that were captured by the rebels. After he managed to impose order, he finds out that the Druidic Order is being attacked by the Demons, and has to deal with them.

Beata works to gather as many people as possible in order to "make things right". She incourages the rebels that things should be changed, and manages to get many to agree with her, and to have the willingness to fight in order to get to the wished results. Beata cooperates with William.

Meanwhile, William is trying to get some powerful weapons that will help in the struggle and in the upcoming war against the Demons, a war that he is the only one who is aware of. He tries to sabotage in Paul's actions, and manages to cause some serious damage to him, without Paul even notices.

How all this will end? Who will gain the control in the Order and will have to banish the Demons out of the Druidic Order's forests? That will be your job to decide.

I would like to thank to you
For getting to this part of the post. I hope you have read everything on your way, and didn't just got to the buttom, but that's okay, too.

Special thanks to: William, Cepheus, Pandora, Orfinn, Fofa and Paul, for sacrificing their nicknames.

All the colours in the design of the post, are colours that come up in my mind when I think of the Celtic Mythology.

Aahhh... Celtic mythology... *drowls*
Well done. I'm glad that a Celtic town is developed by an experienced person such as you Celts are among my all time favourite peoples.

There are already goblin witch doctors though, maybe that name needs a change...

I thought about that, too, but couldn't find a better name for them. Even if I keep this name, it will be okay, since the Goblin Witch-Doctors are on HOMM5, and the faction is for HOMM6, but I will try to think of a better one.

Yes, we can always reuse HoMM5 creatures for these proposals, but we do need to justify why they moved - since we want continuity between the two games. Imho, the slight `problem` with the contest is that the best way to create a really good faction is to first create a new storyline / context, then fit your town in - otherwise, towns have a tendency to come across a bit `unattached` and self-contained... but that would be a lot of work.

Less OT, I like the idea of this town! Although I do wonder how the Gnome would look on the battlefield, since it would have to be fairly small (and I mean properly small here, not `Dwarf small`) otherwise it would simply not be gnome-like, but then it would not fit in with the other creatures. Unless of course I suppose, your vision of HoMM6 has more variation in creature size...

Thanks everyone for the comments.

@GM: I really don't like taking the Druids from the Sylvan, but they are better placed on a Celtic faction rather than on an Elves faction, eventhough they were suitable there as well. Sylvan can have so many kinds of Elven shamans, but for a Celtic faction, nothing can replace the Druids.

Edit:
I added the racial skill of the faction. I know it's VERY unusual, but I believe it can come out well balanced. We'll have to have the concept of combined attack one day, and I think that this would be a nice start. Since the channeled creatures also share the damage they suffer, the faction doesn't have an overpowered advantage on others.

I must say this is great and i think the racial skill is balanced as you will have to use it in ways to obtain lots of damage without taking much yourself which would take time to master.

Thanks, Radar. That's a huge compliment.
Anyway, the diary ends up with an open end. It makes the history more interesting. It has become away too long and I'll have to stop it here. Came out pretty nice, don't you think?
Anyway, now I need to work on the details of the Druids, their habits, behavour, etc. Also need to add the heroes of the faction. It will time to finish, but I'll manage to get it done on time.
