I did it several times succesfully, both for Heroes of Axeoth and unreleased work. Sfidanza also did it for the campaign hero unlocker.
Compared to adding creatures, adding a hero is a piece of cake. The only weak point is: you cannot first build a huge framework and then release seperate mods for it so everybody can use his own selection like NCF. You will have to recreate a new framework for every single hero added.

To tell the truth, I never expected this thread revived. If you are referring to the shot, it never worked properly. I'm afraid I don't much know how to script hero functions properly. Actually, I do if they are wrapped all in one. Just a shot or something. But I gave up on this a month ago.
