Wow.. good stuff.

Love the "none-traditional-ladder" upgrade system.  Very innoventive, and certainly would be a interesting addtion to the Hero games.

The change of unit growth and population is great too.  Balance between bread and gun is always an important part of runnying a kingdom.

The creature line up is good too.  (althought a bit hard to foresee the possible blance issue, due to the mix tier).

Wonderful use of hero ability as well.

Overall, an out of box faction with mixture of creativity and innovention.  Kudo from me.

added description and history

added hero pic (love him ) and description

So, i've finished, the main work is done. Now there are only some details, adjustments and maybe a buildtree and some statistics to follow, but the faction is ready as it is.

@ actionjack: What is kudo

Kudo is a small, warm, cute puppy wrap in a blanket, going "ooo ooo ooo".

actually.. Kudo is like a cookie.
But the dictionary will explain it better.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/kudos

ku·dos (kdz, -ds, -ds, ky-)
n.
Acclaim or praise for exceptional achievement.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Greek kdos, magical glory.]
Usage Note: Kudos is one of those words like congeries that look like plurals but are etymologically singular. Acknowledging the Greek history of the term requires Kudos is (not are) due her for her brilliant work on the score. But kudos has often been treated as a plural, especially in the popular press, as in She received many kudos for her work. This plural use has given rise to the singular form kudo. These innovations follow the pattern whereby the English words pea and cherry were shortened from nouns ending in an (s) sound (English pease and French cerise), that were mistakenly thought to be plural. The singular kudo remains far less common than the plural use; both are often viewed as incorrect in more formal contexts.·It is worth noting that even people who are careful to treat kudos only as a singular often pronounce it as if it were a plural. Etymology would require that the final consonant be pronounced as a voiceless (s), as we do in pathos, another word derived from Greek, rather than as a voiced (z).

@ actionjack: Thank you.

Interesting sidenote: While the offensive spearwielder develops into the defensive phalanx it's the other way round for the defensive healer emerging in the offensive mystic. It wasn't planned but I think it just fits and adds some variety.

Stay in harmony, folks!

Cohesiveness: 10/10 I honestly think it may not get much better then this.  If there was a higher score then 10, you would deffinately deserve it.

Imagination: 15/15 Very impressive.  Unique, inventive, and amazing.  Again, if there was a higher score, you would deserve it.

Back story: 4/10 The one weak point in an otherwise breathtaking town.  That doesn't detract that should deffinately be in the top 5 of the towns.

Battle facets: 10/10 I just can not find a flaw (besides backstory) in this town.  I am trying to be a 'tough' judge, but there is honestly very little that can be critiqued.

Discretionary: 5/5 Factoring everything together, this is the only score I COULD give.  Even being hurt with the lack of a back story, it is still just amazing.

Total score : 44.

I like this town very much.

There is sthg i don't understand though. Why somtimmes there are 3 upgrades and sometimes there is/are 1/2 ?

The Garuda thing is original. I don't really know how it is going to look like but it's nice.

Cohesiveness: 7 / 10 - there are some unrelated creatures that you didn't explain how they are connected to the faction.

Imagination/creativity/originality/wow factor: 12 / 15

Back story: 5 / 10

Battle facets: 10 / 10 - this creatures system is just amazing!

Discretionary: 5 / 5

@ Mytical:
Thanks! I've known before that the back story is my sore point. I'm better in conceptions, creatures etc. So I'm not awaiting high points in this criteria anyway.

@ Magister180888:
The main reason for the varying number of upgrades is - to say it with a judging criteria - cohesiveness. Upgrades resemble developments (recruits, constructs,...) and evolution (animals, creatures,...). So all units in an upgrade line must fit together. It would be ridiculous to upgrade a wolf into a bird or a mage into a warrior. On the other hand I restricted myself in saying that in the end I will have one creature per tier (as we know it from Heroes 1,2,3 and 5). My faction is based on some innovation but on a very classical Heroes-feeling too. That is the reason for my choice. I could certainly have chosen that every creature would start as a tier 1 unit and then be upgraded tier by tier but I think that would have break the mould (1+2+3+4+5+6+7=28 creatures) and would have ended with many 'fill units' with little differences to one another. I went for more originality (so I hope). And the Garuda... there is a picture for every unit. That may not be exactly how they were going to look ingame but you can see the direction.

@ GenieLord:
Just because I'm curious which creatures do you think are unrelated? So I can make it better next time and rule out any misunderstandings.

Cohesiveness 6/10 like GenieLord says, there are some huge problems in connecting some creatures to the Pallas' army. Namely the dragons, rocs, garudas and wisp more than anything else. The ability to control elements isn't also related enough to the feel of the faction.

Imagination 14/15: I like the "return to the origin" feel you tried to give it, and also the hint at greek-roman armies and the "aulic" (it's a word in italian, but I don't know the english traslation) atmosphere. I liked the ability you placed on each creature, too, it made really sense with what the creature should be and some abilities (like the falconer's or the phalanx's) are genuinely inspired.

Back story 6/10: sufficiently developed, but nothing more. One could not say there is no story, but it's just the mandatory minimal.

Battle facets 8/10: while each ability gives a distinct feel of how the creature should work, not so when you look in perspective the whole army. Once again we're missing a glue that holds together the playstyle of the faction. But there is definitely a redeeming trait: having to decide if the citizen pays taxes or goes for the military life is an amazing idea - in fact, I've had exactly the same idea for "Heroes 6 of your dreams", applied to the Haven's army, so no wonders I like it.

Discretionary 5/5: good work, great effort, likeable theme. No reason for a bad mark here.

Overall 39/50

You have Will-o'-the-Wisp, Roc, Tree Dragon, Pegasus, humane fighters, humane healers, and more creatures, which are all so different and far from each other. One is a magical being, other is a giantic vulture, forest Dragons, Mythological ancient creature, and then you have a set of Haven army.
There has to be a theme, a concept, something that connects all these, that proves that they would fight together...

Okay, I see. The concept or the theme for my faction is more of the kind 'same living environment' (in this case the island with settlers as 'invaders', will-o-the-wisps/rocs/tree dragons/faerie dragons as tamed inhabitants and pegasi/garuda as gifts and aid from Sylath) rather than a unique race. It is intendend to be more mixed reminding of the classical towns (especially sorceress as I mentioned before) of Heroes 1, 2 and 3. But yes, naturally I hope the cohesiveness of my faction is nevertheless better than most of the Heroes 4 towns.

My Rate about The Pallas

Cohesiveness: 8/10 points (My opinion is almost the same as the other. But I think that thease creatures fit quite good to this town. I somehow feel, that I have seen the Rampart from HOMM 3 again. Anyway, I like the creature lineup.

Imagination/creativity/originality/wow factor: 12/15 points (Again, the only problem is, that some abilities were already used in former HOMM games. Basically, this is not a problem, but since HOMM is upgrading itself again and agian, we could have some new features. Imagination and orginality are nice. A racial skill that is based on the four elements are not really improving after my opinion.

Back Story: 5/10 points (Main idea is good, it looks like a short timeline. It's a pity that you did'n described it a bit deeper.)

Battle Facets: 10/10 points (Really good!)

Discreationary: 5/5 points (Nothing much to say here. Would be fun to play!)

Overall: 40/50 points

Snatch noted me in the Darkwood's thread that I gave that faction 5 on backstory, and 4 to him, while both factions have no history, but both are very suitable to HOMM. Therefore, I changed his mark for that category.

The Pallas

Cohesiveness(4+4)=8 All fits well together, though you could have described it a little better
Imagination(5+5+5)=15 One word: Astounding!
Back Story(2+2)=4 Sadly, you didn't write a real background, but it tries to expand and is a little interesting
Battle Facets(5+4)=9 Every creature feels unique, but the great innovation is missing

Discretionary: +2 for the simply amazing creature system

This faction could have received even more points with a better background!

Total Score=38

How I graded these:
Cohesiveness (Internal Coherence [1-5]+HoMM Compatibility [1-5])
Imagination (Creativity [1-5]+Innovations [1-5]+Originality[1-5])
Back Story (How well it expands on one of the HoMM universes [1-5]+How interesting it was to me [1-5])
Battle Facets (Variety [1-5]+Inventive Aspects [1-5])
Discretionary (Bonus for exceptional efforts[1-5])

Pallas:

FriendofGunnar

cohesiveness 9/10
originality 12/15
backstory 6/10
battle facets 8/10 Invocation is kind of a boring skill.
discretionary 4/5

The entire taxpayer promoting to soldier motif is appealing.  With the utensils, creature promotion and other things you're really building HOMM in a new direction, which is good.

Cohesiveness: 8 points – the pikeman just don’t do it for me… some good ideas, just not linked quite well enough.
Imagination/creativity/originality/wow factor: 12
Back story: 5
Battle facets: - 6 Love the tree dragon  Lots of flyers here…
Discretionary: 4 – you’ve come up with some novel ideas for the game.

Cohesiveness(max 10) : 8
Creativity (max 10): 10
Backstory (max 10): 8
Battle Facets (max 15): 11
additional (max 5): 3

the most innovative concept in terms of creature system apart from momo's… everything well described, yet a quite plain lneup

Total (max 50):40

Guest Judge's Score : 40.00 (Judges grades are weighed differently depending on how many factions they graded)
