I don't think that egyptian mythology thing will work feels kinda better to use some egyptian mosnters to fill in the ranks of the acadamy, for myself i have grown tired of gargoyles and genies (djinns). And with the dwarves, they have to stay i simply love them. Human, elves, dwarves are the classic good ones, withpout them it will be the end of the world.
Like the thought of a water faction, that could be accesable by water only and have osme kind of bonues when fighting on water. Also agrees to the smart ones you can make a faction out of any creature, but the question is if it will be fun.

"standard"?There is no standard necropolis. You also forgot Death knigths, On some things they are portrayed as different from mainstream necropolis.

Does a naga have to be a six armed reptile woman? Or well, thay gotta be reptile but from some sources I have got the vision that nagas can be both male and female. Perhaps not an entire faction, but severla tiers could come in play with these...or..?

Well I think dwarven faction in Homm5 was boring, but dwarven faction can be nice.

If the creatures arent only smaller dwarf, small dwarf, medium dwarf, big dwarf, bigger dwarf.
Why not ice golems/giants/snow people/halflings/goblins/gremlins/trolls/cobolds/gnomes with dwarves?

EDIT: I think necropolis only undead faction is boring. They could add some "normal" creatures like bats, dark monks, werewolves etc. And also for ex. mummies with mages

For the Naga faction, why not make it like Sylvan?  Only 3 Naga Units (Shogun, Toxote, Sorceress) and then four-five other units (Mermaid, Whale, Seaserpent, Kraken, Kappa, Blue Dragon, Behemouth, etc)

OT: Why do Werewolves hate Vamps?

Odd, I'd got the Nagas down as more a serpentine race in the Indian/Indochinese style, more than a straight aquatic race.

Don't forget boars for the Norse as well.

I have to admit, wizards are hard, although I have to admit, removing the Gargoyle (goes to HIII style dungeon called Cavern) and Gremlin (goes to new industrial town called Factory) probably doesn't help.

Well, a. no they aren't, they're Indian (in or around that area), and b. I was stating my choice, not their historical origin.

Naga don't make sense as a solo race anyway, they're only even being talked about because of heroes 3....?  An aquatic race would be a cool addition though.

Fantasy DWARFS are from norse mythology...
Trolls ARE from norse mythology.
Giants ARE from norse mythology.
Everything in a dwarf town fits with Norse mythology.

I think Naga deserves their own race. In the Heroes 5 lore they are their own race.

But why do you think we think of the excellent Warcraft naga all the time? Sure, some ideas migth be taken from there but i dont understand why you think´EVERYBODY wants warcraft naga.

I would rather have a creature that people have heard of as a race then something like Aqualol. Waterlol? What is that? Fishmen? Maybe as single creatures.

I agree with most other of your factions (althougt faceless should be the new dungeon and dark elfs dont have any town and be neutral creatures).

Trolls are from norse mythology, but they're not apparently very close to the dwarves, being bid, stupid, and with a tendency to turn to stone in daylight, which is why I preferred to put them with the Cavern (H3 style Dungeon).

Paraform, I mostly agree with you, except that I dislike the idea of some unknown race like  "Faceless" to be added. Otherwise, we think alike

I mean unknown as in, self-invented, not featured in mythology or other huge fantasy worlds.

Faction Suggestions

Here are my suggestions for races/factions:

My H6 Suggestion:

Human Knights
Human Mages
Elves
Dwarves
Lizardmen
Orcs
Human Merchants
Elementals
Human Warlocks
Undead
Demons
Dark Elves

Others:

Avians
Beastmen (Gnolls etc...)
Insectoids
Faceless
Vampires
Human Pirates/Sailors
Dark Dwarves (a Forge sort of town)
Celestial Beings (the Ancients)
Desert-dwelling Humans

However, do remember that my H6 factions are more based around a concept/theme rather than a single dominant race, and nearly each faction is composed of multiple sentient races.

My ideas:
Castle (Humans)
Forest (Elves)
Mountain (Dwarves)
University (Wizards)
Necropolis (Undead)
Stronghold (Orcs)
Inferno (Demons)
Cavern (H3 Dungeon)
Rampart (Aztec swamp)
Oasis (Egyptian)
Factory (Gremlins/Gnomes)
Lost Temple (Nagas)
Dungeon (Dark Elves)

The hardest part is coming up with buildings for all of them.

Personally, I'd rather not have "themed" towns in the sense of most of the creatures being dwarves or humans or whathaveyou, but I'd like the good old, more diverse, "creatures by living quarters" set up (if that makes any sense). Example: The Heroes III Dungeon, all the creatures available preferred the underground and there was no "dominant" race among them. This way there was a diverse creature set up and not just variations of the same thing.

Anywho, that's just my opinion.

My ideas:
Castle (Humans)<---if there is something new to always repeating griffins ,paladins and angels
Forest (Elves)<---should work
Mountain (Dwarves)<---if there are different creatures, than just dwarfs and dragons
University (Wizards)<---the academy sounds better
Necropolis (Undead)<---lame unit names like power lich are not accepted here
Stronghold (Orcs)<---should work aswell
Inferno (Demons)<---again, would work without lame units (and lamenames)
Cavern (H3 Dungeon)<---some variation would do good
Rampart (Aztec swamp)<---aztec swamp?Enlighten me with this
Oasis (Egyptian)<---maybe, mummies will finally have their place
Factory (Gremlins/Gnomes)<---gnomes are ok but gremlins should be on some other faction
Lost Temple (Nagas)<---please, some variation to "six armed serpentine woman" theme
Dungeon (Dark Elves)<---works, maybe...maybe.

I think you should reduce the list by 2 factions (definetly the naga being one).

Rampart (Aztec swamp)<---aztec swamp?Enlighten me with this <---I think 'e means like the fortress from H3
Oasis (Egyptian)<---I also like the idea but only if the Acad is not in the sand.
Lost Temple (Nagas)<---please, some variation to "six armed serpentine woman" theme <---They are not all six armed or women.

I think you should reduce the list by 2 factions (definetly the naga being one). <---No, only get rid of the gnomes and consolidate Cavern and Dungeon

My two cents is in bold, unless I agree with you in which case I left it out.
