All metalheads post here!
I know there are metalheads here, so let's talk about metal and our favorite bands. I like almost every type of metal. I like singers who sing loud and clear and also those who scream. Most of my favorite bands are from Finland. Here's a list of bands that I have listened/listen:

My god , you miss so many good ones 
Machine Head, Strapping young lad, Trivium, Slipknot, Stormlord, Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, God Forbid, Killswitch engage, Ayreon, Arch Enemy, Tool if you count them as metal !
So many GREAT BANDS!
But as I noticed, you named the best in the world! In Flames!

Sonata Arctica, Amorphis, Amon Amarth, Apocalyptica, Finntroll, Masterplan, Soilwork, Sentenced (RIP), Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation...too many to mention, but you had many of my favourites in your list 2nd Hero.

Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Slayer... Not to start with hard rock bands 
That aside, we could mention Marilyn Manson, SOAD, Lamb of God, Within Temptation, Divine Heresy, PAIN, Hypocrisy, Korn (in their earlier days)... I probably forgot some, but then again, who gives a crap

Yeah People would really hate me - I dont really like the roots of metal.. megadeth - alright, Metallica - Alright, Slayer - IT IS NOT GOOD, Judas Priest - havn't really heard anything from them - Black sabbath isn't that good either.

Emilsn I'm probably the opposite.
I'm not a metal fan and I hardly ever listen to it but I think the older bands were much cooler.
Metallica - One, great song, great band. Their whole culture just emanates badass.
Cool...
Not cool.
I mean what is that thing.
I don't like the whole melodic metal new age stuff.
If I can't understand what they're saying, no.
If they are overly dark with cliched words associated with death, no.
If I can feel the pain of their vocal cords just by listening, no.
The only band I've yet found who can actually pull it off with Industrial Metal is Rammstein.
For some reason I just like it
Also I'm a big AC/DC fan but they are on a different level. I wouldn't even call it metal really.
And Dragonforce? lmao. They are a joke, so cliched even the name and their sound is so tacky all they can do is play fast.
Of course now I'm the least popular guy in this thread so no offence to anyone...

Actually you're not. I agree with everything you say except for the melodic metal part. Dude those guys wearing freaky outfits, some spikey bracelets, weired makeup and all that "Demon/Death/Darkness"... come on thatstuff is just sad .
And yeah I don't even listen to songs that sound too "dark" (Like Angel of Blood or stuff like that).
Interesting however that you like Rammstein. Do you understand the lyrics or do you just like the music? Because the lyrics are quite weired too...(not allways but some are definetly weired...)

I'm only a casual listener of Rammstein... I don't speak german but I understand Du Hast, Engel and Feuer Frei (the lyrics aren't that hard really )
But as I said I don't usually like bands like this. I just like their style for some reason. I know they're pretty weird

Hey guys i am also a big fan of heavy metal and i didn't even knew that such a thread exists in this forum Anyway I am also really into Scandinavian metal but don't know why you mentioned thunderstone but didn't mention dream evil as it is a lot heavier imo Oh and those who like metallica should try listenning to godsmack because it's a lot like it Oh and i also like in flames and can't wait to listen to their new album

AC/DC is hard rock, not metal (trust me on this, they're one of my favourite bands ), and I said "Not to start with hard rock bands"
But hard rock is kind of similar to early heavy metal, so I can understand the confusion.
But Pink Floyd... Pink Floyd is awesome, but they're as far from metal as something can be.

I'm with you Emilsn, but calling Metallica only alright...
Imho Slayer & Slipknot are the most overhyped metal bands (dunno if someone here listens Stone Sour, but after I listened to their stuff I was wondering why Corey Tailor even wasted his time with Slipknot).
Anyway, I prefer nu-metal (SOAD, Korn etc. like what Baklava mentioned), and I partly agree with TA as well (with your opinion about Rammstein and Dragonforce ).
It seems I'm somewhat a mix of you

It would be better if you would not. You see, the Black Sabbath fan might feel a little more than insulted if you put his favourite band next to Slipknot or somesuch. Taste is not open for discussion, but musical value is.

Wow Edn that's a list I am also listenning to deathstars, gothminister, marilyn manson, lordi. And I am also listenning to some worth of listenning music that weren't mentioned as: Sentenced, Nightwish, After forever, Persuader, Stoneman, Disturbed, The 69 eyes, Entwine, Dream Evil, Element Eighty, Hammerfall, Static X ( I know that they are not all metal bands but still veeeeeeryyyy good music )
