Just to let you guys know, I’ve been pretty sick the last two days. I’m just starting to feel better, but sleep schedule is messed up right now. I’ll try to be awake enough to get a post in later today.

Only took me three tries to make that post because I kept going back in the same tab and accidentally deleting it because I wanted to look up Adriana's name... ARGH.

I recommend having a Word document or similar, write your post there and just copy and paste over when it's ready. That's what I do.

Gorman do you just want to run your character normally? I’ve been autoing because I thought you wanted to be out for a bit and didn’t want essCee to be overwhelmed, but if you’re feeling up to playing you can play. Don’t let me stomp on your toes!

(So with the time gap between now and his pickup, I can do a "training session" timeskip sort of thing, right? If it's no trouble I'd like to ask for a quick explanation of that, having never done it before and all)

Yes, let me know which Pokémon you’re training and for how long. (It’s about 6 AM for Pinklady.) Here’s a quick reminder about the training rules:

You can train your Pokemon whenever you have some time to kill and a reasonable amount of space to train in. You train your Pokemon by working with them uninterrupted for a certain stretch of time (dependent on level); you can fluff it however you like. Beyond that, there are no specific requirements other than that your Pokemon must be in reasonable state to be trained (i.e. not unconscious, asleep, or similarly inconvenienced) and you the trainer must be involved in the training (not asleep or doing something that would significantly distract you).

You can train a Pokemon up one level in (current level/10 drop decimal) hour(s) (or half an hour if they’re below level 10). You may only train one Pokemon at a time using this method.

Limitations:

*You can only train one Pokemon at a time (i.e. leveling up both Sandshrew at level 11 and Pikachu at level 12 one level would take an hour EACH, so a total of two hours).

*Two trainers assisting each other can each level up a Pokemon (so if Misty were to help Draloed, she could level up Hedge from 13 to 14 while he levels up Ironsides from 10 to 11, and only an hour will be needed, not two).

*Each Pokemon is limited to a max of 3 levels by training in a day, and no more than 5 levels over a three day period. (Breaking this rule yields temporary stat loss and a Happiness hit due to exhaustion.)

*Pokemon that are Shadowed or otherwise disobedient must succeed an Obedience roll to get the level up.

Thank you for the rule overview!

I'm guessing the Pokemon Center is a reasonable space to train in? If not, getting drenched to train may be in order.

If I've got this right...
6 AM to 2 PM = 8 hours
Doing 3 hours training, then an hour's break to cool down and breakfast, then 3 more hours training, then break again for lunch + wait for Mark
So 6 hours training

Hitmonchan level 20 -> 21 is 20/10 = 2 hours training
21-> 22 and 22-> 23 are also each 2 hours, so 6 hours for 20->23
(With no more allowed for him today without taking hits from exhaustion, and no more than 2 more training levelups today or day after without similar consequences)

If this is all correct, and once you decide on needing to train outside or not, I can fluffpost for it!

Tomorrow or the day after that, since you're training him for three levels today, but otherwise yes, that is correct.

You can ask the nurse for a spare room (we've used them for deShadowing in the past) or head over to the Contest Hall if you want to train indoors.

Whooops, ty for the correction, and for the info on where to train!

And gosh, I didn't even notice until I posted in the (RPG) thread how hard the new Scarlet game's been chewing up my time... Sorry about the lapse in activity the last few weeks, pre-Thanksgiving assignments slammed me hard and then Thanksgiving happened. Hope you had a good one!

(Quick question since I haven't seen a lotta Pokemon catching yet - is having the ones for Matt hang on by a few hit points what's usually done when we have intent to capture; or do I usually need to, like in the games, be careful not to knockout the Luxray I want?)

You need to be careful not to knock out what you want. Pokéballs don’t work on unconscious Pokémon; in-universe, it’s a safety thing. Generally speaking it’s easier to KO a Pokémon than it is to break their bones or do other serious damage, so if you aren’t even allowed to KO them to catch them, fewer trainers are going to be badly injuring Pokémon.

You, personally, have three Eggs to deal with, then for the next day the DM has shanghaied you into a side quest helping Ranger Wain track down a very dangerous Shadow Pokemon up in Rieva. Tl: dr - you can post when you feel like it, no one is waiting on you just yet.

Mark and Pinklady are meeting with the flutemaker up in Rieva to get data for our next mission.

Mina is in Skybreak, digging into her prophecy.

Already posted this! It's on the previous page.

EDIT:

Hey guys, I have a proposal for all of you: I was thinking of moving the game to a new forum in the new year, specifically the Giant in the Playground forums.

This forum has served us well, but it has definitely seen better days. Sooner or later it’s going to get flooded by a spam bot and as we’ve seen in previous cases there isn’t anyone cleaning those up. In contrast, the Giant in the Playground forums have active mods, as well as other functionality this forum doesn’t have (The ability to preview posts! Spoiler tags! More than four colors of font!). Also, I already do the dice rolls there.

That said I don’t want to force anyone into this; as far as I know this forum isn’t going anywhere, and we have a good group right now and if I have to pick between keeping us together and moving forums, I’d rather keep us together. So no pressure. Also please note that if I go through with this, nothing will change for you guys until the new year regardless; I want to leave some buffer for holiday craziness, and I need to gather things like house rules so no one has to jump back to this forum just to look up Poffin boosts and so on. So if you need time to think about it, take a few days to do so, I don’t need a response right now. That said, what are everyone’s thoughts?

Sounds good to me; I don't have any particular inclination to stay here (providing everyone else is fine with moving!), and those do sounds like some nice benefits, especially the re-gathering of all the rules stuff.

Also, boy did the games spoil me by letting me have hundreds of Pokeballs, catching is so much more tense with fewer balls in this

Fine on my end, I've had a Giantitp account for almost a decade at this point, and the site really does just have so much more functionality (like being able to subscribe to threads, so you can just go to a home page and know which threads have actually been updated!) Also, I'm going to be a busy boi for the rest of the year, so my responses are probably going to be a bit slow.

I though I had a phone book of sorts in the character pages, but now I can’t find it.

Re: Getting a new mod, Val last posted in March, and that’s the ONLY post all year. I’m not holding my breath there.

Mark for instance... and have it come out like "you suddenly remember you never obtained Mark's phone number!" when it's something... dire... like being eatin by Helnith Dragonite's
