I was thinking the rod might be a little harder to find…or did we really walk so far from port that we can’t just walk back and find a secluded dock? (But yay pond!)

There's the first Region Map Snippet!
I have to make up the Siltis Village map, so take the time before my next update (as early as an hour or so from now to as late as Sunday...not sure when exactly. ) to think up your most favorite type of Pokémon (the Pokémon that are showing up around the village...depend on your choices. )

The X's on the map symbolize points of interest (one of them is the pond, but you have to explore them one by one to find out )
The Mart carries:
Poké Ball - 200 PD
Potion - 300 PD
Antidote - 100 PD
EDIT: Done.
By the way, you will be encountering a Skorupi. Better go find it in one of the points of interest.
(The Elder will let you know...just ask him specifically if he has seen a Skorupi around the village. )
(Aron is a Steel-type...trying to keep those for later and Burmy is found in honey trees...not too many trees around here. ))

Hmm list of desired pokemon hmm? Eevee, Eevee, Eevee. . Seriously...
Eevee (first choice), Pikachu (come on who doesn't want one?), Piplup, hmm don't know what type are found where  . Since I only know a couple of them I will make it easier..
Besides eevee (come on they are so cute and so adaptable)
Electric
Water
Flying
Psychic
Ghost
Ice

…and I really really want a Natu (Psychic/Flying type for the win!), but as I already have Pidgey with me I should probably look for a Rock, Ground, or Water type first so I don’t end up with an entire team weak to Rock and Electricity…
…Absol would be cool, but I think it’s a woodland Pokemon…

??? I’m not complaining winter.
I do wish I had more experience with Ruby/Sapphire/Diamond/Pearl/anything else after Gold and Silver so I knew what to pick out of the 200+ Pokemon to have appeared since I last played. But having some choice over what I run into? That’s a nice change from running into stuff at random and chucking Pokeballs at everything in sight, hoping something will end up cool. Or knowing this or that Pokemon exists, but having to wait half the game before I get to the route it appears at to actually get one.
