Jeeze, what the heck had that thing been eating? The pokemon had attacked them after it had been previously damaged and not only broke free from capture in a pokeball designed to catch it, but it had also wiped the floor with both of their pokemon! "Hey Sarah, do you know what that thing was?" He asked while they walked.

The Starlight Squad lieutenant looks pleasantly surprised. “I was just drawing up the list of our people to send. I’ll put your name down right now.” Dien makes a few quick notes. “There you go. Remember we’re assembling in the Pokemon Center lobby at noon tomorrow. Until then your time is your own. Don’t be late!”

(I'll drop helping hand on Growlithe)

Brona left Dien then, not really knowing what to do do with the time he had left. Looking around he decides he will train just outside the pkmn center while keeping an eye out for any trainer to pass. What time he has he will spend training. He lets Magby and Twiggin train together, their levels being close enough that Brona thinks it's a good idea (I'll train both max possible, 2 levels each?).

(I'm open for any of you now to come and battle would be fun having a battle with one of you.)

Mina:

((Note to self: Dropped Rapid Spin for Fury Swipes on Sandshrew.))

Mina frowned down at her Pokedex; the coast was several miles away. She wasn't averse to the trip itself, but the time it would take just to get there would cut into her grace time before the Berries would need to be watered again.

She gave the matter some thought while Pidgey pecked at bugs nearby. She wasn’t quiet ready to give up on the idea; she’d been through most of Ternai Town already and was still convinced it would do Magikarp some good to get some training by the sea. But walking was too slow, she was in no condition to run all the way there with her current injuries and Teleporting would scream her location to Bandra—hardly a good idea when she was going off alone, even assuming Natu could take her there.

At last it occurred to her it might be faster to hitch a ride, and she remembered a boat being tied up from her previous trips inside the ruins. And as she was already here, Mina reasoned it wouldn't take long to poke her head in and check. So she called back Pidgey and took a short trip over to the underground port.

As it turned out, Mina wasn’t the only one poking around the area, nor the only one looking for a lift. The girl from earlier—Sarah, Mina reminded herself—was fishing off by herself, Ignis was puttering around deeper in the ruins doing who-knew-what…and another lady Mina didn’t know, but was peripherally aware was a member of the Starlight Squad, was already talking to the ship’s captain.

“…I can take you to the coast and back, lass, but it’ll be a few hours both ways; my girl,” the ship’s captain patted its side, “is really good at navigating these low caverns, but she ain’t very fast. So you’ll want to make sure you have everything you need before we go.”

“Drat,” Mina muttered.

Both of them turned to look at her, and Mina belatedly realized she’d spoken aloud.

“Sorry, I just wanted to hitch a ride to the coast. But it sounds like it’ll take more time than I have.” Mina started to back towards the stairs leading out, feeling very awkward.

“Hold on,” the Starlight Squad member peered into the relative underground gloom at Mina. “You’re one of those trainers who helped us out aren’t you? What are you going down to the coast for?”

“Just training.”

The SLS member looked like she was thinking something over. “You know, I’ve got a friend who was going to fly out and do some scouting in the area; if you hurry you might be able to catch him before he leaves.”

“Oh, thanks!” Mina replied. “Where can I find him?”

((Later…))

About half an hour later Mina found herself standing on the coast, within Pokeball-throwing distance of the crashing surf. The trip had been a little awkward—the Starlight Squad member’s Golbat wasn’t built to carry two humans comfortably and Mina had had to compensate for her injured arm while she held on.

“I’m going to be heading back in about four hours,” he warned. “Make sure you’re back here by then.”

Mina assured him she would before heading off west to find a good place to train.

Brona:

((Noted. And…*checks* You can do three levels each actually. I’ll give your fellow PCs a chance to interrupt you with a battle before I roll up your stats however.))

"Actually I don't really know, I never seen one like it before, nor have I ever faced such a powerful Pokemon.
It looks elike the both of us got some heavy training to do, if our Pokemons will ever have a chance in the future." The blonde girl said with a grin.

While in the Pokemons Center, Sarah went to the nurses and had her Fighters healed.
"So Mr Mark, what to do now?" She asked her new "fellow traveler".

Afterwards you take Snorlax out near the ruins and train for several hours. By the time you’ve judged the Pokemon has reached the end of her endurance it’s about 7:30 PM, but she’s made good progress:

You leave town to explore. On your way out, you occasionally see other members of the Starlight Squad patrolling around Ternai and preparing defenses; from them you overhear word of cave complexes along the coast, and that one of your fellow Squadmates is apparently in good enough shape to be planning a late-night foray into the town’s tower to look for Ghost types.

You then use your time to explore the surrounding area, taking in the lay of the land. Once outside the borders of town you spot the occasional Pokemon, but none of them seem interested in fighting as they flee at your approach. ((Lousy encounter rolls. ))

Mina:

Mina strolled down the beach until she came to a spot she judged to be good for training: sheer cliff walls on one side high enough to hide her from view from the mainland, with an expanse of sand between the cliffs and the surf wide enough for Pikachu to run back and forth over without either of them having to stand in the water to do so.

On the flip side, training here meant she wouldn’t be able to see anyone coming or have many options for escape if she were attacked, so she set Pidgey and Natu out as lookouts while she trained.

Mina called out Magikarp first and had her swim laps up and down the shore, while meanwhile keeping an eye out for wild Pokemon that might want to make a meal out of her fish.

After about an hour Mina switched out Magikarp for Pikachu. Her little Electric type remained downcast; Mina tried to reassure her, telling her that the only way she’d get better was with practice, and heaping praise on her for the least little accomplishment. When another hour passed and Mina switched over to Magikarp again it didn’t seem to have made much difference; the Johto trainer decided with internal grimness that the only way her youngest was going to get over her previous loses was to win a real battle—one impressive or important enough to make an impression on the little yellow Pokemon.

Mina spent another hour on Magikarp, as the red fish was showing a lot more coordination and speed thanks to the training: Mina was confident she’d manage Tackle with just a little more work. This time she instructed the fish to swim to the bottom and bring up the biggest pieces of rock or other debris she could manage, figuring it would be good strength training.

It was about three hours into her trip and Mina had made a nice little wall out of the assorted rocks, shells, and pieces of coral Magikarp had retrieved when the trainer realized she hadn’t seen Natu for a while.

“Natu?” she called, then, when he failed to come at her call, more forcefully: “Natu!

Mentally cursing herself and reciting a long list of horrible fates that could have befallen her bird, Mina recalled Magikarp and instructed Pidgey to help her look.

—he could have been attacked by Bandra, or eaten by wild Pokemon, or—

Mina was trying to remind herself she shouldn’t run with her ribs still in bandages when Pidgey got her attention and gestured with a wing.

There, on a sturdy stretch of rock safely above the high tide line, was a small weathered house built into the cliff side (which, Mina noted to her chargin, she’d managed to walk right past without noticing on her first trip through). There was also a narrow little path cut into the rock leading up to it, which Pidgey bid her follow. The dwelling had a small deck of weather-beaten wood, on which a positively ancient looking man with bright blue eyes rocked in his chair. Mina found her Pokemon happily pecking up crumbs by his feet.

“Natu! There you are!”

Natu trilled happiliy and fluttered up to her shoulder, where he picked up a stray piece of her hair in his beak and started to preen it, the picture of innocence. Mina was less than impressed.

“Don’t look at me like that, you were supposed to be on watch! If you wanted to wander off, you could have at least told me,” Mina scolded sternly. She turned to the old man. “Sorry about this.”

“Not to worry, I was enjoying the company.” He motioned for her to sit, which Mina did, albeit warily. “What is a nice young lady like you doing out here?”

The old man had a friendly, likeable air about him; his words were very gracious and pleasant; like a nobleman in some faraway court. He told her his name was Andrei, and that he lived out here by the sea where he could work on his art and listen to the surf.

Mina found herself relaxing slightly despite herself. While her birds both fluttered down to eat up the crumbs by his feet after a brief conversation in Pokespeak, Mina asked him about his art.

The old man gestured to the blanket over his lap: it was filled with bits of shell and sparkling powder. It was then Mina noticed the odd pendant around his withered neck that looked to be made of the same materials; it rang pleasantly as he worked. Noticing her gaze, he showed it to her.

“It’s called a Shell Bell. I make them from pure sea salt and special shells that can’t be found anywhere else in Helnith.”

“It’s pretty,” Mina complimented.

“It makes Pokemon feel invigorated when they battle. I notice you’re a trainer.” He nodded at the Pokeballs on her belt. “If you ever find the right materials, bring them to me and I’ll make one for you. I would need four shells like this” he held up scallop’s shell about the size of her palm “and as many lumps of salt.”

Mina agreed to return if she found the materials and excused herself soon after; she had things to do and only a limited amount of time left to do them in.

----------------
EDIT:

Mina:

Mina took off down the beach again, this time keeping an eye out for patches of salt or shells like the old man had showed her.

The coast seemed bare of either however. All Mina found along the beach was driftwood, the odd bit of flotsam, and occasional marks in the sand:

The Pokedex informed her most of them belonged to Krabby, with a handful of prints from something called a Wingull. The picture of the latter looked cute and the Pokedex informed her it was a Water/Flying type; Mina toyed with the idea of trying to catch one but decided on balance that she had enough Flying types in her team considering their opposition had so many Geodude.

Some distance past the spot she’d stopped to train earlier, Mina came to something a little more interesting: there, on the inside curve of cliff along the beach, was a dark hole in the rock. Mina stuck her head in the entrance catiously; the interior seemed to be a reasonable sized cave, large enough that she couldn’t see the back from the entrance.

It was also pitch black further in, and Stacey wasn’t near enough Mina could ask to borrow her lantern. The Johto trainer frowned in thought before grabbing a few pieces of driftwood off the beach, improvising a torch once she called out Houndour to light it for her.

That accomplished Mina headed in; maybe there was something Pikachu could battle, or some of those shells Andrei had told her about—either way it seemed a good way to use up her remaining time along the coast, and maybe have a little nonlethal adventure for once.

----------------

Misty:

The Stunky continues bolting and disappears into the brush again.

((Ten minutes later…))

The Murkrow taunts you a little more before leaving a huge splatter of bird droppings at your feet and flying off.
