Misty:

((You um...do realize Growlithe is only about two feet tall, right?))

Sesh rubs the bridge of his nose, obviously losing patience with you. "What did I just say? We're going to evacuate our people who can't get out on their own. There are far more competent trainers than you covering the retreat already—but if you prefer to waste your life and your Pokemon needlessly then by all means, go ahead."

Misty loses all patience and interest in this conversation.  "Sounds like a plan to me.  Hey, I thought maybe..just maybe the Starlight Squad would be something good to help.  My friends seem to think so at least. Guess we were all wrong." She turns to her pokemon.  "Come on guys..lets help some of these people get to safety."

Without looking back, she starts looking for people to help get to safety.

Misty:

Sesh sniffs scornfully. "Your brand of 'help' we'll be happy to do without."

"Sir—" one of the Squad members interrupts tentatively.

"No." Sesh says with authority. "I may not be able to get Elren to see sense, but I won't put up with such incompetent busy-bodies myself." To you he continues, "Now get out of our way."

Sesh and his accompanying Starlight Squad members press on to the Pokemon Center without you.

Looking around, you begin to make some sense of the chaos. The main line of battle is on the north end, around the Pokemon Center, though Bandra is gradually edging around to the Gym and the east side of town. A few townspeople are scattering from the vicinity of the Mart, and going in all directions—a flash of light from the battle illuminates one or two running for the Mart and the stalls around it.

Everything for all three of the trainers target Milotic for this round, unless it (somehow) faints. Ariados uses Shadow Step, Skarmory uses Swift, Ralts uses Confusion, Lapras uses confuse ray, Carvanha hides behind Lapras until the Milotic has acted and then uses Torment (body shield!), Houndur uses Bite, Tunabu uses Whirlpool, Slugma uses Rock throw, and finally Spheal uses Body Slam.

Mark winced at the "Stupid Cripple" remark and lowered his head as he gave his commands, both from embarrassment and anger.

Misty is of two minds..keeping the poke center out of Branda's hands and in the towns hands could only be a good thing..but she is unsure if anybody knows about the grunts headed toward the gym..though the gym leader there is more then capable.  Helping the people headed toward the pokemart would also be useful.  Misty sighs. "Can't do everything at once."

She decides to head toward the PokeCenter..she needed to switch out for her Krabby anyhow.  Keeping that Pokecenter in the Starlights Squad MIGHT give them a chance as well.

Mina:

"Natu, get back here!" Psychic Bandra Officer detecting Teleports or no, Mina wanted her escape route unharmed. If it wasn't the best option, it was certainly better than staying in this trap! "Pidgey, Sandshrew, Sand Attack again! Houndoom, use Bite!"

Oodramer was going to have to come out; any longer and he wouldn't have any teammates to back up—and Mina knew he wasn't going to be able to take down that Milotic alone. Unfortunately his primary (to her mind at least) attack wouldn't do much against a Water type, and his physical strength was quite possibly worse than Mina's. Which left...Mina winced. She still remembered the weird side effects the previous times she'd called for that attack. No help for it. "Oodramer, Vortex!" Sparky gave her a sharp glance; Mina shrugged helplessly. She couldn't think of anything else Oodramer could really do...except give up (which wasn't an option), or have him shield one of the others, which she doubted he was durable enough for. And if she had to choose between doing potentially-horrible things to her enemies or letting horrible things happen to her friends and Pokemon, it was no contest.

The serpentine Water type crashes to the ground with a cry, scales still glimmering under the burns. As Hannah recalls it, Stacey notes the Pokeball looks like the one she received as loot from the Dewdrop wagon rescue. The party doesn't have time to celebrate however, as Hannah sends out her next Pokemon:

Brona sends out Rhyhorn again ((at the same time as Hannah sends out Wigglytuff, so that I doesn't lose this round ), angry that almost all of his pokemon are down. "Alright, Rhyhorn use tail whip and Twiggin use growl! Growlithe, use flame wheel on the Wigglytuff!"

Puppetman has his Kadabra (1) use HP (rock) on Surskit (I think that might finish it). His Kadabra (2) uses calm mind and his Remoraid uses psybeam on Wigglytuff.

Mina:

"We need to get out of here now."

It was obvious to Mina if to no one else that Hannah was playing with them—or, at best, distracting them from a secondary attack. Which brought worrying thoughts to mind, actually...

"Is there a back entrance to this place?" she demanded of Sparky.

"Probably, why?"

"Great." There was a healthy splash of sarcasm in the word. Mina glanced over her shoulder; it didn't look like there was anything there now, but how long could that last? She couldn't keep her eyes off the fight in front of her for long, she couldn't afford to.

"Something wrong?" Sparky asked. Some of her nervousness was apparently catching.

"Probably. Let me think..." Okay, assuming worst case scenario there will be Bandra coming in through the back. Not a guarantee, but to Mina's mind a strong possibility. Going through Hannah is probably not going to work. Bandra has us surrounded...

----------------

Misty:

You make your way to the Pokemon Center. A few others—trainers and Starlight Squad members by the look of them—are also headed in that direction. The Center itself is still under friendly control for the moment, though the lights flicker alarmingly from time to time and the noise of battle is audible even through the walls. You hear Sesh barking orders somewhere nearby and non-destructive clamor in the emergency wards during lulls in the fighting outside.

Entering, you spot both Nurse Joys frantically working in the back—Starlight Squad Nurse Joy taking armfuls of Pokeballs off the shelves and sending them one by one away while Ternai Town Nurse Joy coordinates via videophone with a third Nurse.

"Coming through!"

You are also nearly bowled over by a trainer behind you, who rushes past with his hands full of Potions and healing supplies, headed for the back of the Center—the front line of the battle.

Tomas has also noticed that the snow has hit the fan. Telling Carvanha to use Aqua Jet on the Wigglytuff and Houndour to use fire wheel, he grabs the back of Mark's collar and growls, "Pull that little girl pokemon of yours back, we're going to need it conscious." He then ran over to Mina, who appeared to be arguing fiercely with another member of the squad. "Hey fearless leader, got a plan to get us the hell out of here?"

Mark, confused, pulls Ralts back behind the Pokemon Center's protective walls (lol). "I really hope that that guy knows what he's doing..." Mark mumbles. He recalls Ariados (which just is not having a good weekend (knocked out 3 times already!)) "Alright you two, let's give them hell! Lapras use sing again!" Hopefully that hits both of the enemies in in case the squad needs a quick get-away. "Skarmory use leer!"

Lisa just gets on with her own attacks, oblivious to everything going on around her or the situation. She has Tunabu use Whirlpool on the Wigglytuff, Spheal use slam on the same target and Slugma use Rock Throw on Wigglytuff as well.

As she runs past the others. "Keep getting everything and everybody out, I will help with the distraction!"

Misty:

One of the nurses calls "Good luck!" as you run past. You nearly trip over Lijan in the hallway as you charge through, but it's obvious he isn't going to be much help, as he's sitting curled against a wall and clutching his bandaged head—barely noticing you as you pass the wards, his gaze even more dazed and far away than usual.

You make it to the back entrance of the Center, and discover that it wasn't such a bad thing that you didn't take the time to retrieve your Krabby—at least a third of the Bandra Pokemon out appear to be Water types ((Wooper, Poliwag, a few Tentacool, plus evolved forms of same and a few others)), though the usual Grunt species are present around the fringes ((mostly in the direction of the Gym)). Leading the attack is the massive Pokemon you saw earlier—vaguely draconic, it stands at more than ten feet tall, with a long arching neck and two shell-patterned wings whose stripes extend to its tail. It's battered at this point, but amazingly still standing despite the number of Pokemon concentrating on it.

The battlefield here has been churned to mud ankle-deep by the battling Pokemon, some of whom are still dripping wet from some attack or other. The windows are smashed and the doors usually used for ambulances and big deliveries have been ripped off their hinges. Despite this a hefty number of people and Pokemon on the Starlight Squad side are inside the Center, sheltering behind the battered walls and receiving remedial treatment where possible: the trainer from earlier is passing out Potions and a second is collecting Pokeballs—a slightly confusing action until a third trainer arrives out of breath, gasps "Back!" and drops half-a-dozen of various models on the floor. Several trainers pounce on the pile and rejoin the fray, while others push more into the hands of trainer number three and the first collector takes off back to the front of the Pokemon Center. Even with this assistance, it's obvious the defenders' forces are dwindling alarmingly fast.

Misty curses, even with amped up agility Blaze will last maybe one round here.  She will have to make that round count!  She falls back slightly, to make sure the other pokemon do not get a free attack on her pokemon, and calls out the other four that won't go down in round one..hopefully.

"Evan, Phoebe, Oddish, Dubba..come on out." After everybody is out, Misty moves to make sure she has a clear path to attack the enemy pokemon.  "Evan Pursuit on that weird looking one (the one that has every other pokemon targeting it).  Phoebe Twister centered on the same one.  Blaze..Sunny Day!" With most of the enemy water type..hopefully this will hinder them some..maybe even get them to waste a turn countering it.  She feels bad for Blaze, but can't help it. "Dubba..transform into Oddish!" she needed another pokemon that can do some damage to water creatures..."Oddish.." Misty looks for either a water type, or any combo that wouldn't weaken Mega drain "Mega Drain that one!"

Mina:

"Hey fearless leader, got a plan to get us the hell out of here?"

"Working on it. How many can your Ralts manage?" This last was directed to the Ralts' trainer. Mina was vaguely familiar with the species, despite it not being native to Johto—it was how Quincy found out he was mind-deaf.

((Pardon me for answering for you gnomes, but I don't think I gave you the rundown on how Teleport works.))

The little Psychic type held up a single finger before her human could respond.

One. "Blast it." Mina muttered under her breath. Not going to be enough to get everyone out at once. Okay, time to get creative. "Next plan then. Does anyone here know how to fly a helicopter?"

"That might be a bad idea," Sparky piped up, being dragged into the discussion with obvious reluctance. "If they bring it down with us in it, we're all dead."

"If we stay here, we're all dead anyway...but I see your point, it might be better just to run for it on foot. I'm open for arguments either way." Mina felt she was scraping the bottom of the barrel as it was; they were desperately short of options. "Well, we have to get out of here no matter what. So we're going to need some kind of distraction regardless." Mina reviewed the Pokemon they had left, well aware that most of them were still in range of the Bandra Pokemon and couldn't be counted on to remain conscious. They needed something that took as few Pokemon to pull off as possible...

An idea occurred.

"Okay how about this: I'll have Natu Teleport something heavy near the back of the Center as a distraction." Mina was perfectly willing to use Stacey's Snorlax if nothing better presented itself, though she doubted the other trainer would be happy in that case. "Then we cause as much visual interference on our front as we can manage—anything we have left with Sand Attack, Smokescreen, Fog Maze, Smog, or anything along those lines, uses it. Anything else we have left after that we use to punch a hole in the Grunts and then run for it. They've been sitting around and we've been letting them, hopefully we'll take them by surprise."

It was the best Mina could come up with. The Grunts were the 'weak' part of the assault force—they'd never make it through Hannah herself, and Mina had doubts about the back exit being anything but heavily fortified. And if Kerry was 'watching' (or whatever psychics did) the worst he could know was that a Teleport occurred within the bounds of the Pokemon Center—and Bandra already knew they were there, so that was no loss.

"If any of you lot have better ideas, say so now. Otherwise, what have we got left as far as smoke and mist makers? And while we're at it, who wants to go for the 'copter and who thinks we should leave on foot? Or should we split up—anyone who gets caught alone is probably dead in that case, but our odds staying together aren't really much better, and we'll be harder to follow if we scatter."

((As always, open to input from the rest of you.))

Christian:

"The ruins?" Nurse Joy repeats, blinking. Apparently that isn't a question most people ask her. "There was an outpost around here during the last war. There isn't much left now, but most of the town is built on the rubble and I've heard people still find things sometimes."

Brona recalls his rhyhorn due to the others not being able to pull anything but electric moves, then he calls for the rest of his pokemon to attack. "Twiggin, use quick attack on the surskit! Growlithe, snap out of it and use flamewheel on wigglytuff!"

Puppetman calls for his pokemon to attack. Remoraid to use psybeam on wigglytuff, the kadabras to use confusion on the same pokemon.

"Smoke and mist makers? Well, if we have a good water attack, I could have Slugma hit it with ember. That might get us some steam."

She calls for slugma to move back toward the center some.

"Okay, Raticate, use pursuit on that Surskit! Don't let it get away! Luxio, bite the Wigglytuff. Mona, drain from it again. Snorlax, use curse again."

She turns to her slow-moving slug.

"Okay, I want you to use ember. Target any water-type move you can see. Hopefully it would be enough for us. If you can't spot any water, target the Wigglytuff."

Ivan almost has his pokemon use pursuit as well, but decides to just go with a peck to Wigglytuff.

Mark keeps Ratls back and has Skarmory use swift again, but only after the Taskmaster sends out his next pokemon. He has Lapras use ice shard on the Wigglytuff.

Tom has Houndur defend Lapras, since it will be central to their GTFO plans due to its ability to use mist. If it does not get attacked, then Houndur is to use Fire Fang on the Wigglytuff. He tries to get his Carvanha to wake up and use aqua jet on the Wigglytuff as well.

Lisa has her pokemon use the same moves as before, but all of them target Wiggletuff this time.

"I see." Christian said "Interesting. I'll probably check it out then." Christian turned away for a moment before turning back "Ohh and I almost forgot, do you know a Mr. Blakes? My dad told me that he lives in Prai and that I should say hello if to him if I see him." Christian waited for a responds before adding in an un-sure tone "I think his forname was John, but I am not sure."

Mina:

Mina had Sandshrew ready a Sand Attack while Sparky had his Inkel prepare a Mud Slap for the Grunts on their way out. Oodramer Mina recalled directly, since they were going to run for it anyway it seemed pointless to try and wake him up for whatever minor damage he might be able to inflict. Natu she whispered instructions to, and then waited for everyone to be ready.

----------------

Main Group:

Raticate uses Pursuit! ((Good call. ))

The Bandra Taskmaster curses as her Surskit is knocked unconscious mid re-call. She replaces it anyway, this time with a Flaaffy.

Twiggin uses Quick Attack!
Flaaffy is hit for 4 damage!
((Static Roll = 24))
Twiggin's Springy Step prevents Paralysis!

Tom calls for Carvanha to use Aqua Jet!
((Sleep Roll = 28))
Carvanha still sleeps!

Lapras uses Ice Shard!
Wigglytuff is hit for 9 damage!

Dien calls for Manectric to use Thunderbolt!
((Sleep Roll = 29))
Manectric still sleeps!

Wigglytuff uses Sing! ((Roll = 36, 38, 24, 68, 15, 81, 20))
Twiggin, Remoraid, Houndour, Tunabu, and Snorlax fall asleep!

Lapras takes shelter behind Houndour; the latter slumps to the ground asleep.

((And, rather than continue on with a long list of attacks, I'll just sum up the results)

The Wigglytuff goes down under the Confusion from Kadabra number 1; the sleeping Pokemon remain that way, except for Puppetman's Remoraid who wakes up with a jolt and fires off a Psybeam blindly—leaving a furrow in the ground but otherwise doing nothing. ((Also, Flaaffy took 5 damage from Skarmory's Swift.))

"Now! Do it now!"

Mina practically throws her Psychic type into the fray once the Wigglytuff goes down. Her Sandshrew and Sparky's Inkel send sand and mud spraying everywhere, and being deprived of a target in any case Stacey's Slugma attacks a nearby Surf-created puddle with Ember. Mina's Natu and Stacey's Snorlax vanish just after they're engulfed by steam...and a moment later there's a loud crash! from the back of the Center and several shouts of pain—human and Pokemon. ((7 damage to Snorlax.))

The relative lack of light actually works in the party's favor this time: the fires still burning around town silhouette several Grunts and their Pokemon moving towards the back to see what the noise is about.

"Go!" Mina suits actions to words by getting behind the nearest person and pushing them towards the temporary hole in Bandra's line. ((I'll take volunteers; otherwise it's Sparky.))

Meanwhile Hannah recalls her Wigglytuff and sends out its replacement. Between billows of steam, Brona is able to note the Wigglytuff's Pokeball looks like the one he got from the wagon back in Ternai town—the one Mina called a Glitter Ball.

Hannah sends out Mismagius!

((Also, Snorlax regains 7 HP from Leftovers. Forgot to add that last round; should be fixed now.))

Misty:

"Oddish? You have a shapeshifter and an entire field of Pokemon to turn it into and you make it an—"

The disbelieving rant of one of the defending trainers is the last thing you hear before you spot the Officer with the huge Pokemon lick something—was that blood?—off his own arm and order with what almost sounds like cheerfulness:

"Tidal Claw!"

The beast crouches down and its tail cuts the air in a diagonal slash. Even with his speed boosted to such heights Blaze still isn't fast enough to beat the monster to the punch.

The last thing you see is Phoebe—all 350+ pounds of her being flung backwards at you by the force of the attack.

((Later...))

You come to, some time later, noting that it's late morning and the Helnith sky is uncharacteristically overcast. You're in a deep depression, with rough rocky walls on three sides and a patch of loamy soil within arm's reach ((you're in the Berry patch Brona found a while back, though I don't believe you'd know that IC)).

Your Pokeball-throwing arm ((right arm, unless Misty's left-handed)) is broken, along with what feels like a couple cracked ribs. Tentative examination with your usable arm also reveals a gash on the back of your head ((though if Misty has the medical knowledge to recognize signs of a concussion she doesn't have one)) and bruising literally from neck to knee such that every square inch of skin within those bounds is dappled blue and purple. The back of your legs are scraped and muddy, and to top matters, you can feel the start of a sore throat from lying out on the ground all night in clothes that are still a little damp.

On the plus side, someone's tried to pillow your head with a jacket you don't recognize.

"Hey, you're awake." You vaguely recognize the face peering down at you as belonging to one of the Squad members from the Shrine of Light. His voice is quiet, as though he's trying not to be overheard. "You're really lucky you know, if your Milotic hadn't gotten hit first, you'd be dead now. How do you feel?"

((Answer however you like here.))

"I managed to save your things and call back your Pokemon...the ones I could anyway." He averts his eyes at this, and you notice a still, reddish form set against one rocky wall.

((Blaze is dead. Evan has a broken leg, -20% to his Speed and -10% to his Defense. Oddish has -10% to her Defense and Dubba has -30% to Defense. Everyone but Phoebe (and of course Hedge) is waterlogged.))

----------------

Christian:

((Good one! ))

"Blakes?" the nurse bites her lip thoughtfully. "The man who runs the shop on the hill has the last name Blakes. His first name is Smith, he might have a brother named John..." though she sounds doubtful on the last.
