Brona staggered toward the town, smiling toward Nidoran. "See, food. Finally."

He was beyond the point of caring whether this was a friendly or unfriendly town, right now he just needed some rest, food and something to drink. "We'll find a pokecenter and then you'll get loads of food. Sounds good, right?"

"I'm starting to feel like I've been here before..." Christian looked around, trying to see if there was anything he had seen before there. "Verett, scratch this wall!" Christian commanded, intent on marking his path.

((If nothing in the room is familiar, follow the echo, with Verett marking the way))

((200 pages!!! ))

Mark and Mina:

((Trainers: ))

"Two Pokemon each?" piped up the other trainer (this one in blue)—Mina noted she only had three Pokeballs ((her friend has four)). "Do you want to put money on it?"

((Conversation: ))

"Then we should probably focus on getting status effect attacks, like my Lapras's sing. Something that doesn't go away just because they pull out... You have a pikachu right? Does it know thunder wave yet?"

"Yes, she does." It had been kind of useless against the Geodude, but maybe if she tried Pidgey and Pikachu with the same tactics Houndoom and Skarmory would be using, her youngest could get more battling in... "And Encore too, if we can find a use for it. Maybe if we can get most of the Pokemon off the ground, she could force the Geodude to waste energy on Magnitude...though that might be too complicated to pull off." Mina filed the thought away for later use anyway.

"Oodramer has a move called Vortex that can trap, but it had some weird side effects." And Mina was hesitant to ask him to use it without a better idea of what it did. "I don't have much else, unfortunately. Natu can potentially be useful with Me First and Teleport, but none of my Pokemon have a lot in the way of status-causing techniques—mostly just Sand Attack, as I said. Stacey's Slugma has Yawn...I'm not sure if her Grimer has Poison Gas or not." Mina thought a little more. "Pidgey can learn Tailwind with a little more experience, I think." ((And so can Xatu for that matter.))

----------------

Brona:

Nidoran bounds ahead happily at the mention of food.

You enter town, but it seems you need not have worried; no Bandra uniforms are anywhere in sight and the people greet you with perfect friendliness. One girl even goes so far as to comment:

"Oh, is that your Nidoran? He's so cute..."

There are signs of battling here—huge cracks in the ground, patches of electrical charring—but they're at least a few days old and the townspeople have made headway on repairs. More worryingly there's a gallows built in the town plaza, but it's in the process of being disassembled—the boards scavenged for the aforementioned repairs. More relevantly the Pokemon Center seems to be in working order, so you and your Poison type friend go inside. The familiar face of Nurse Joy greets you as you enter.

"Can I help you?"

((Map in progress.))

----------------

Christian:

The ledge is perpendicular to the passage below, and there are scrapes on it as though something—maybe several somethings—slid down it recently. You have Verett mark the wall as you continue down the right.

Eventually you come to another split in the cavern. Fang-like rock formations decorate the walls, and across the right passage lies a broken length of stone just thick enough to be a tripping hazard. You hear a "Wobba!" come from the right.

((I'm going to assume Verett is still marking the walls unless you indicate otherwise.))

Mark looked over at Mina, "Do you want to risk it?" He asked as he pulled out Skarmory and Lapras's poke balls.

((Conversation))

"And Encore too, if we can find a use for it. Maybe if we can get most of the Pokemon off the ground, she could force the Geodude to waste energy on Magnitude...though that might be too complicated to pull off."

"Encore is more of a double edged sword." Mark said with a grimace, "If you are fighting a faster enemy or something with allot of health that uses 'Me first,' then it's a complete gamble."

"Oodramer has a move called Vortex that can trap, but it had some weird side effects."

"Does it do anything to your pokemon?"

"I don't have much else, unfortunately. Natu can potentially be useful with Me First and Teleport, but none of my Pokemon have a lot in the way of status-causing techniques—mostly just Sand Attack, as I said. Stacey's Slugma has Yawn...I'm not sure if her Grimer has Poison Gas or not."

"Mass poisoning might be very effective if we can get it, and if we have a grass type then something like Sweet Scent to lower evasion or moves that will slow multiple enemies would be very effective. Doesn't Natu eventually learn hypnosis? Even if it's single target, sleep moves can be necessary in a battle like that last one."

"Pidgey can learn Tailwind with a little more experience, I think."

"And I think that Kirlia can eventually learn Barrier or light screen... psychic types should eventually learn a bunch of party buffs, right? So Natu and Kirlia could become very useful if we train them enough."

Stacey really wanted to explore the ship segment, but felt that a three on one battle wouldn't be too ideal for Tunabu. Especially since there was no guarantee it would even listen to her. So, in the end, she decided on fleeing from the battle.

Mark and Mina:

((Trainers: ))

"Might as well; we're battling anyway and we can use the money if we win." Mina responded to Mark. Louder, she asked, "500 each sound good to you?" She wasn't sure what Mark's funds looked like, but she could cover him for that much if she needed to. (Though if she did, she was going to demand a Sitrus Berry in compensation once he had some grown, seeing as she'd paid for dinner last night too.)

"That's it?" chided the trainer with the scarf. "Show some confidence! You act like you know you're going to lose! What about 1,000 PD per trainer?"

That was more than Mina was willing to shell out for a casual match unless she was splitting the fee. "Mark?"

((Conversation: ))

"Encore is more of a double edged sword. If you are fighting a faster enemy or something with allot of health that uses 'Me first,' then it's a complete gamble."

"The Geodude and Graveller aren't faster" doubly true with proper use of Pikachu's non-typical Ability—though Mina was still kicking herself for forgetting about Voltage in the fight against Hannah. Then again, that Milotic had had a lot of experience; maybe the Speed boost wouldn't have made a difference...too late now anyway. "and Me First only works on damaging moves. But I can't disagree with you on principle. It was only a thought."

"Does it do anything to your pokemon?"

"No, but the Pokemon he used it on went berserk and attacked one of its friends right after."

"Hypnosis?" Mina responded. "I don't think so...maybe with an SM?" She made a note to look into it later. "But that's a thought; I'm pretty sure Stacey's Gloom has Sweet Scent, and if we paired her up with Lapras and Sing...we still might want some of our Pokemon to run interference for them, because neither of them is very fast, but that could work well. We still run into the problem of keeping the Bandra Pokemon out of their balls when they're under Sweet Scent, however. Do you know of any attacks that boost accuracy?"

"And I think that Kirlia can eventually learn Barrier or light screen... psychic types should eventually learn a bunch of party buffs, right? So Natu and Kirlia could become very useful if we train them enough."

"Let's work on them next time we get a chance to train, then." If nothing else, Natu was close to evolving, and having their last-ditch escape methods be harder to knock out struck Mina as being a very good thing.

Mark shook his head, "Sorry, 500 is all I can afford." He would barely be able to buy a pokeball and potion if they lost anyway, 1000pd would put him into debt. He tossed his pokeball casually with his robotic arm, "Is that alright with you?"

((Conversation))

"No, but the Pokemon he used it on went berserk and attacked one of its friends right after."

Mark was silent for a second, smile gone from his face with his eyes facing forward carefully. Quietly he said, "Maybe that's a good thing..."

"Do you know of any attacks that boost accuracy?"

"The moves Foresight and Oder Sleuth do that, I don't know about any others though. And I don't know if there is a move that would affect the entire party or a different pokemon.

"Let's work on them next time we get a chance to train, then."

With a cheerful nod, Mark said, "Yep. Sounds like a good idea." If he could evolve Kirlia into Gardevoir... well, he would suddenly have a very powerful psychic type to help him. No matter how sarcastic she might be. As if reading his mind, his pokemon rolled her eyes and huffed.

Stacey:

((Encounter Roll = 87))

You find a smashed up container of some sort, but nothing else of note.

((Encounter Roll = 87...huh?))

Rocks.

((Encounter Roll = 24))

You run across a Goldeen on your way to the bottom.

Goldeen: 60/60

((Escape Roll = 25))

Tunabu swims away without confrontation.
((Encounter Roll = 41))

You find another section of the first ship you encountered. Searching, however, you find nothing of use or of value.

((Encounter Roll = 46))

You discover a portion of the second ship, but again, no sign of the HM or anything else worth salvaging.

((Encounter Roll = 10))

The shadow of a Gyarados passes over you on the way down.

Gyarados: 103/103

((Escape Roll = 5))

It passes you by. Taking no chances, Tunabu pulls you out of the area anyway.

((Encounter Roll = 20))

You encounter yet another Tentacool.

Tentacool: 62/62

((Escape Roll = 58))

Tentacool jets in front of Tunabu as she tries again to flee; She knocks into it by accident and the Poison type retaliates. Acid once again stings your exposed skin, but the Steel type is unaffected, trying again to flee.

((Escape Roll = 29))

Tunabu manages to escape, passengers mostly intact.

((Encounter Roll = 41))

Another portion of ship, another twenty minutes with nothing to bring up. At least it's more interesting than the empty sea floor.

"One more hour before we head back, everyone," one of the ship's crewmembers calls.

Mark and Mina:

((Trainers: ))

The girl with the scarf frowns but the girl in blue looks relieved; you get the feeling she's not well in funds either. "Fine, fine. Let's get started then."

Your opponents send out Teddiusra and Wooper!

Teddiursa: 76/76

Wooper: 103/103

Both Pokemon show the gleam of good health you've both become familiar with from the Keida disaster.

((Conversation: ))

"Maybe that's a good thing..."

"Maybe, but I don't like it."

"The moves Foresight and Oder Sleuth do that, I don't know about any others though. And I don't know if there is a move that would affect the entire party or a different pokemon."

"Houndoom has Odor Sleuth; maybe I can train him to point out targets for the other Pokemon."

"Yep. Sounds like a good idea."

Mina didn't have anything to add to that, so she just smiled and nodded back.

----------------

Christian:

The cavern rises gradually. The tunnel's ceiling drops in places, forcing you to duck, but eventually you come to a ledge with a continuation of the path at the bottom at right-angles from your current direction. You hear a shuffling noise off to the right and—

—there, on the wall, is one of Verett's marks.

Mark gave the pokemon an odd look as he sent out Lapras. "Um... why do they look so funny?" You see, the poor boy had never encountered contest pokemon besides the one that had almost wiped them out single-handedly. So his confusion could be understandable.

((Conversation))

"Maybe, but I don't like it."

Mark's steps slowed to a stop and he fell behind. His right hand was trembling as he looked down and bitterly hissed, "Bandra won't care about what you like," through his clenched jaw. "If we show them any mercy... if we give them any ground..." The young trainer unclenched his fist and covered his eyes. For a moment he trembled, silent. When his hand fell away, Mark's eyes were closed, his mouth turned in a broken frown. "... I-... I... S-sorry... pretend I didn't say anything." He muttered, looking away from her.

"Houndoom has Odor Sleuth; maybe I can train him to point out targets for the other Pokemon."

"Hmmm... maybe that could work. But we'd have to train him to do that. Maybe him and Kirlia can work together? She knows Double Team, so he could figure out how to sniff out the real one and point her out his allies? Mina eyed the Wooper with a frown as she sent out Oodramer. Bubblebeam would be worse than useless against that if it had Water Absorb. Grass moves of any sort would have been best, but she didn't have any; hopefully their team tactics would be of some help. The Teddiursa she was less worried about, though she recalled they had decent physical strength...

"Um... why do they look so funny?"

"Neither of you are Coordinators, are you?" The girl with the scarf observed shrewdly. "We feed them right and groom them a lot. You should try it if you don't want yours to look so...unpolished. Try Poffin; it helps."
