Matt:

Both your Pokemon manage to score hits despite the sand and the Wispaferyn is sent tumbling to the ground. The Bandra Grunt who still has Pokemon up seems to have decided to stop throwing sand for the moment, and orders a Scratch.

Sandshrew uses Scratch!
Taillow is hit for 15 damage!

The Bandra trainers are starting to look a little nervous now; the man calls out his last Pokemon—a Geodude—to fill the gap left by the woman's fallen Bug type and tells her, "Go for help, hurry!" She turns to run.

Gastly: 48/48 (Accuracy down 2 levels)
Taillow: 15/54 (Accuracy down 2 levels)

Mankey: 0/52
Wispaferyn: 29/62

Sandshrew: 56/56 (Defense up 1 level)
Geodude: 52/52

----------------

Jack:

You hand in the rest of your Pokemon to be securely locked away and call out your Swadloon for a stroll.

((How long do you stroll for? ))

----------------

Mark:

The Ranger returns both Pokedexes to their respective owners, then bids you goodbye and you head to the kitchen.

'Anywhere worked' very nearly becomes the case as a splash of hot coffee comes flying out the door as soon as you arrive.

"Come on, give it back!"

"Noooo, it's mine!" A crazed voice responds; a mass of frizzy purple hair and dark, loose-fitting clothes in the door frame is all you can make out as whoever it is is holding the coffee pot up and away from someone inside the kitchen proper, thus all you can see is the back of their head.

"Go for help, hurry!"
"Now don't go running off, you may not see your pal here again if you don't make it back in time! Stay and watch the show! If you're lucky, you may both make it out alive."grins menacingly
These punks...get the jump on ME will they?! Attack me unprovoked and then turn tail for help when things go south? The audacity is appalling. These worms make me sick. And they call themselves a gang? HAH! You'd think if they meant business they'd just pummel ya in a free for all... What sort of gang uses rules and fights fairly? Had they sent all 4 of their pokemon out at the same time, don't doubt that I'd have sent all 6 of my own. I ain't goin down without a fight, and since the girl's running away....scratches his headDid she even recall her fainted pokemon? Man my memory's getting bad, but since we're down to two ground/rock types that have.... an outstanding weakness to grass and water types....

"Taillow, you did great, return! Head on out to the party Weepinbell."Glaring at the man left"Since ya'll are crooks, you should be thankful I'm fighting as fairly as you are.... Especially since I was just minding my business trying to pass through. But since you wanted trouble, lets make it double, Rattata, come out and catch that runaway woman, don't let her escape, use... Tackle or something, just pin her down as best you can. I reckon if I don't let Gastly attack your pets, I should be able to heal Weepinbell. I'm sure you won't object, though I suppose you could... I'd just have to let the rest of the group out and put a royal thrashing on you lot."

(OoC: If this is a bit....carried away, just yell at me LOL Else I'd just like to use a super potion on my Weepinbell in place of Gastly's attack. If I can't since I swapped him in for Taillow and must attack with Gastly, I understand. Also if sending Rattata out to catch the runaway Bandra woman is.... taboo.... I can do something else instead. Suppose I shoulda just asked in the OoC thread first instead of posting but ya did say that since they fight dirty, nobody would mind if the same was done to them....lolz?)

((You're fine. And yes, she did. I don't always spell out when fainted Pokemon are recalled, though by all means double-check if you're not sure. ))

Ratman goes streaking off after the Bandra woman. The man calls for attacks while you swap Taillow out for Weepinbell and apply a Super Potion, healing the latter. ((Full health to Weepinbell, 1 Super Potion remaining.)) Gastly takes up a protective position while you apply the medicine, keeping the enemy Pokemon away from you.

Sandshrew uses Scratch!
Weepinbell is hit for 12 damage!

Geodude uses Rock Throw!
Weepinbell is hit for 23 damage!

The woman is out of sight now but you can hear a yell and the sound of someone falling, followed by a triumphant cry from Ratman.

((As an aside: Ratman doesn't actually know Tackle any more, but he knows Quick Attack. My usual rule for Pokemon when you tell them to use an attack they don't have is that they'll try to use the closest equivalent.))

Gastly: 48/48 (Accuracy down 2 levels)
Taillow: 15/54 (recalled)
Weepinbell: 29/64

Mankey: 0/52
Wispaferyn: 0/62

Sandshrew: 56/56 (Defense up 1 level)
Geodude: 52/52

----------------

Jack:

Your Pokemon finds some bright red Gel and something yellow the Pokedex identifies as a Decal ((think 'temporary tattoo' except it's reusable)) while playing in the bushes.

But about an hour into your stroll you encounter a trio of trainers going the opposite direction, one of whom very deliberately walks into you.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" She snaps. Her Pokemon – a Sentret with ridiculous little balls of fluff attached to its ears—puffs itself up threateningly.

Nothing seems to be missing, but ignoring the trio seems to be a mistake as their Pokemon bristle and one of the trainers flanking the girl reaches for a Pokeball that isn't there—like you, they appear to be out for a stroll, and most of their Pokemon are presumably locked up securely at the entrance. "Don't you talk to her that way!"

----------------

Mark:

The purple-haired trainer snatches the coffee pot back, cradling it like a child. (A hand reaches out from behind him to tug at it and is ignored; after a moment its owner gives up and stomps off to make a new pot.) He's staring at you oddly; it's almost as though he recognizes you, though you're certain you've never met this trainer before.

"Hello. Your friend will be able to talk to you soon."

----------------

Mina:

Mina conversed with the Ranger a little longer in the hopes of soaking up useful information before heading outside. She had money for supplies now, but she decided to stick with her original plan and see if she could battle her way to some more useful utility Berries and save the money for Pokeballs.

"You! Random trainer!" She called out to a likely-looking Coodinator. "Battle me?"

((Does anyone want to run the opposing trainer?))

The purple-haired teen reaches out and takes your flesh-and-blood hand (and that coffee must be hot because you can feel residual heat from it, but the teen either doesn't notice or doesn't care) and sets it over Kirlia's Pokeball. "You should talk to her about it soon; she might hurt you if she tries to talk to you right away," he tells you seriously. "Because you're not a telepath. But if you tell her to wait it will be longer."

Looking at this boy a bit strangely, but slipping the pokeball from its holster (and his hand out of this boy's), Mark would hesitate and consider what this boy was saying. Either he was crazy, or... Trying to think the words as "loudly" as he could, Mark would ask, "Are you a telepath? ... And would you mind sharing that coffee?" In his head, the words would come out much, much easier and without any hesitation, unhindered by his nervousness.

Regardless of what the boy said, he would send out Kirlia and ask her, "Do you know what h-he's talking about?"

Mark:

The teen looks at you, then at Kirlia, then sighs. "You don't understand. Of course you don't. But you like coffee, so I'll explain it to you." He un-blocks the door inside the kitchen and sets the pot down on the counter, then scrambles up on top of the counter himself and sits cross-legged on it. A vaguely tick-like creature makes its way down a cupboard door to climb onto his shoulder while a Baltoy floats over to bop lightly against Kirlia, who it then circles curiously. (The trainer who'd been trying to retrieve the coffee pot from him just glares and mumbles under their breath while he arranges himself.)

"Humans are only one kind of psychic. Most humans aren't any kind of psychic, but the ones that are are only one usually. But Psychic Pokemon are more kinds of psychic, and telepathy is a kind of psychic. Psychic Pokemon can talk to each other because they're all psychic, and Psychic Pokemon can talk to telepathic humans. But non-telepathic humans can't talk to Psychic Pokemon! And Psychic Pokemon can't talk to non-telepathic humans unless they're very powerful—about four times as powerful as your friend." He nods in Kirlia's direction (the Baltoy is now bopping up against her repeatedly) and takes a drink right out of the coffee pot. "But some Psychic Pokemon like to talk to their humans, even if they're not any kind of psychic. Even if they don't like coffee." This last is said with disbelief as he sets the pot down, as though he has trouble imagining anyone wanting to do that. "So Psychic Pokemon sometimes make a link to their friends that they can use to talk to them when they're powerful but not powerful enough to just talk to them. Your friend is almost powerful enough to make the link, but not to talk to you without it. But you're not a telepath, so if she makes a link with you and something happens to her, you can't protect yourself from the backlash, and you don't have any other friends to protect you instead." The tick Pokemon has crawled down his arm by this point and is hanging around his wrist; he reaches over with the other hand to scratch it absently. "So you should talk to her about it, before she decides to do it on her own."

((OoC translation:
By default, Psychic Pokemon can 'talk' to other Psychic Pokemon but not the average non-psychic person. But Kirlia's getting close to Special Attack 50, at which point you can have her establish a mental link with Mark. The upshots of this are as follows:

--She can communicate with Mark telepathically. This means that for practical purposes she'll be able to talk, but only to Mark (unless you run into another telepath). Note that this is partially one-way: she can read Mark's mind to 'hear' what he's thinking, but only if she's paying attention.
--She can treat Mark as a 'place visited' for the purposes of Teleport.

The downshot is that non-telepaths can't protect themselves from psychic backlash; unless you have another Psychic type Pokemon protecting you, there's a 25% chance Mark will be knocked out if Kirlia is knocked out.

Also, if you choose not to have her establish a link, she'll still be able to 'talk' to Mark (and most any other non-psychic) once she hits a Special Attack of 200.))
