Wait a minute... Isn't this where the starlight squad had their leader taken out? Wasn't I looking for evidence to clear a name? The thought was in and out of my head before I knew it. I walked over to where the Bandra boss was laid incapacitated on the floor. Disgust rose like bile in the back of my throat. Perhaps if he wakes up, I'll see if those dissecting tools work as good on a human as they do on pokemon. I crossed my arms and watched as the rest of the group kept battling.

Ah crud, another fighting type and Shambak was down. And of all the pokemon still left up... Jessia was still his best option. So he sends her back in, immediately applying a potion (at the cost of Marik's action) to try and counteract the stealth rocks she has to take on the way in. "Jessia, his them all with Icy Wind, Fisher use Sing on all of them. Everyone else, let's keep it up! We're almost there."

He does think of one thing, however, and he asks, "Mina, Matt, could one of you help Pellena keep her Hitmonlee up, so that she can keep giving out attack commands?" Gotta ration those actions to the best of your ability in a crunch like this.

Dang it, another round of missing more targets with Sing than it hit! But... well now. That icy wind brought their targets a bit low there, didn't it? And now... "Fisher, use Ice Shard on the strongest Wispaferyn." That should take down the fire type before it got to act, even with the defense up and its higher stats. "Jessia, use Icy Wind on everything still standing. Marick, use Iron Defense again." That should take care of this round of pokemon, and hopefully knock these grunts out of this combat.

Unfortunately in the brief calm Mark gets a good look at the number of Grunts milling around on the other side of the battlefield…and guestimating 2-3 Pokémon each, he’s maybe a quarter of the way through them.

... Okay. This was a problem. But it could be handled. Also why were there so many grunts in this place? Geeze! "Jessia, use Icy Wind on all of them again. Marick, finish putting up your defenses with another Iron Defense." Jessia should finish off the Wispaferyn and hit the magnemites just enough to remove their Sturdy... if they had that ability. Which escaped Mark's mind at the moment.

"Fisher, pull back for a second. Wain, lets get that Geodude in, we've got electric types here! Don't worry about directing the other freed pokemon right now." And given how the magnemites were steel types as well, Pellena's last pokemon standing was really, really going to be a good choice. "Matt or Mina, could one of you touch up Jessia and the other the Geodude quick?" Spikes would still hurt the rock/ ground type, so healing him up quickly would be for the best.

Oh come on, fighting types now? Ugh, fine. "Wane, we might want Vespiquen instead of Geodude out there." The bug type was also extra tanky at the moment, so should hold up pretty well. "Jessia, use Icy Wind again." That might be running low pretty soon... "Marick, Fisher, just wait for now." While it might be good to get another mist out there at this point, he wants to give Mina a chance to buff up her Oodramer before hand.

Mark recalls his poor, unconscious ghost type, and looks at the pokemon out. Two fighting types really limited his options here, so... "Wain, you should put in Zubat." For now he's hang back and support instead. "Fisher, use Mist." And this turn, he uses one of his super potions on the Vespiqueen to heal that damage back up. Stupid spikes... if only they could be cleared by one of his own pokemon's moves while back in the supporting role.

Mark stops, shrugs, and steps back. "Well alright. Keep one or two around just in case, but I'll wait for those fighting types to stop popping up, then." And he instead uses one of his potions on Wain's zubat to counteract the effects of the spikes.

Ranger Wain and Pellana exchange a few quick sentences along the lines of ‘you take that one I’ll take this one’ before calling out their attacks.

Ranger Wain sends out Zubat!
Pointed stones dig into Zubat!
Zubat loses 15 HP!

Matt uses Super Potion! ((-1, 3 remaining))
Vespiquen regains 41 HP! ((Back up to full. ))

Mark uses Potion! ((-1, 3 remaining))
Zubat regains 15 HP!

Hitmonlee uses Natural Gift!
It’s super effective!
Primeape B is hit for 122 damage!
Primeape B uses held Payapa Berry to absorb damage!
Primeape B faints!

The Mist kicks in and bathes the defending side of the field once again.

Primeape A uses Karate Chop!
Hitmonlee is hit for 29 damage!

Zubat uses Wing Attack!
It’s super effective!
Primeape A is hit for 34 damage!

Graveler A uses Rollout!
It’s super effective!
Vespiquen is hit for 23 damage!

Vespiquen uses Toxic!
Graveler A was badly Poisoned!

Graveler A loses 5 HP due to Poison!

As Oodramer can’t buff with the Mist up and Fisher doesn’t need a wound wash, Mina starts looking for something that can be used to drag the unconscious friendly Pokémon (and the Taskmaster) out if (when!) the group is no longer pinned down, since none of the caged Pokémon seem to have Pokéballs handy.

Bandra forces send out Graveler B!

((Buffs for the round:
Fisher: (Mist)

Mist in effect, 4 rounds remaining
Stealth Rock in effect.
Water Sport in effect – Fire type moves are at 50% power until Surskit is KO’d. Note that this affects BOTH sides of the battlefield.))

I begin to wonder if the rest of Bandra are fighting to get their leader back.
"What do you reckon they're hiding to keep throwing wave after wave of pokemon into this bottle neck just to get knocked out? You don't suppose they want their boss back do you?" I say to whom ever might be listening and paying attention as I apply yet another potion to Hitmonlee.

Applying a potion to the Vespiqueen, Mark just shrugs at that question in response. "Probably trying to make it look good? So that their bosses don't think they just gave up." There wasn't a much better comp for fighting the current enemy lineup... at least, not one that wouldn't take a pounding if they were switched in. So the group would have to rely on this overly-buff Hitmonlee taking out the weakened Graveler, and Zubat taking down the last Primeape. If there were other pokemon that didn't potentially have 4x effective moves out there, Marick might have been able to hop in, but even with the extra defenses... Not worth the risk. At least, not yet.

“Guys,” Mina points out in what she hopes is a reasonable tone as she locates what looks like a wheelbarrow under all the boxes, “We’ve hit them twice inside about a week and ambushed a bunch of their patrols. Were you expecting them to just let us walk out after that?”

Matt uses Potion! ((-1, 3 remaining))
Hitmonlee regains 20 HP! ((69 total))

Mark uses Potion! ((-1, 2 remaining))
Vesipequen regains 20 HP! ((80 total))

"Well, I mean no. But if I can't joke about that right now I will probably have a panic attack and become useless." Mark said, admitting to the ancient soldier technique of being incredibly sarcastic so that he doesn't just start screaming and never stop.

As for the fight, well. Alright... time for something risky. "Okay, Wain, pull back Zubat. Mina, Oodramer has a multi-target water move. Let's swap him in." And hope that all of those evasive moves did the work they needed. He spends one of his last potions on the little spectral type after it gets in and hit by spikes.
