Only twice? I think to myself as I apply a super potion to Hitmonlee. Didn't I take out a pair of them a while ago?

"Reckon having a hostage is just extra baggage. Even though you're primarily keeping them out, I still feel a bit unnerved that we're keeping this...trash... Safe as well. Wain, do you have plans for this one? Going to pick him away and throw out the key? I wouldn't see the point in it if his.... Buddies... Come and potentially try to rescue him and destroy more property. Or kill more people. I suppose there's no real good way out of the trouble we've gotten ourselves into..."

((@gorman: You did, but recall Mina wasn’t there for that part. ))

“Okay, Wain, pull back Zubat. Mina, Oodramer has a multi-target water move. Let's swap him in.”

“No he doesn’t, he has a single target Water move,” Mina corrects, but she privately agrees that was still better than a Flying type at the moment so she sends Oodramer in anyway.

“…Wain, do you have plans for this one? Going to pick him away and throw out the key? I wouldn't see the point in it if his.... Buddies... Come and potentially try to rescue him and destroy more property. Or kill more people. I suppose there's no real good way out of the trouble we've gotten ourselves into...”

“Give the boys in Steltag some credit, they’ve been keeping Altros locked up for weeks now!” Wain responds.

Ranger Wain recalls Zubat!
Mina sends out Oodramer!

Hitmonlee uses Brick Break!

Graveler B is hit for 264 damage!
Graveler B held on with 1 HP due to Ability Sturdy!

In almost perfect unison, the Graveler begin to glow. The Bandra side of the field has turned into its own miniature, trinary star system before the stars in question start to go nova:

Graveler B uses Self Destruct!
Graveler B faints!
Hitmonlee is hit for 94 damage!
Hitmonlee faints!
It’s super effective!
Oodramer is hit for 166 damage!

Graveler D uses Self Destruct!
Graveler D faints!
Vespiquen is hit for 16 damage! ((Woo-hoo! Tank it, Vespiquen, tank it! ))

Vespiquen looks for something to hit with Toxic but there are no Graveler remaining. At least, not until the crush of Grunts sends out more Pokémon…the cages acting as a chokepoint have been thrown somewhat farther apart, widening the battlefield.

((Both sides may now send out five total Pokémon.))

Bandra forces send out Wispaferyn D, Wispaferyn E, Wispaferyn F, Graveler E, and Graveler F!

On the plus side, about half the Grunts who had started the battle blocking the entrance have retreated.

Alright. That last round was terrible. But Mark still had a few pokemon to toss out there... "Lapras, get back in there. Use Sing on all of them immediately." And hopefully, hopefully, that move would hit more than one of the targets. "Wain, that Geodude and Makhuita are probably our next best options." As for their fifth pokemon... he would leave that up to the ranger's discretion. "Everyone else... try to keep us standing." And with that, he uses a super potion on the Vespiqueen. Because that tanky bug pokemon was one of their walls at this point.

As the Makuhita waddles out to join the fight, Mark and anyone else paying attention is able to notice that its breathing is labored and there are some rather bizarre scars on it – rather like someone cut it open in numerous places and then stitched it back together, without much care as to whether the marks showed.

Mark sends out Fisher!
Pointed stones dig into Fisher!
Fisher loses 31 HP!

Makuhita uses Fake Out!
Wispaferyn F is hit for 9 damage!

“Wait, what?” Mina checks her Pokédex to be sure. Fake Out doesn’t do recoil damage!

Wispaferyn F uses its held Chahal Berry to restore 20 HP!

Surskit washes Fisher down, cleaning away some of the Ice type’s wounds. ((+31 HP, 34 total))

Mina is checking her Pokédex and swearing under her breath because the device won’t load as fast as she wants. Then her expression brightens, but there is a definite tinge of desperation to it.

“Wain! Send out the Mime Jr., it knows Encore! And call back all the non-Flying Pokémon!”

Mark nods at that suggestion, and calls Fisher back while telling Wain, "Take out the Wispaferyn if you can. The more grunt pokemon we force in there, the better." Maybe this could turn the tide in team Good Guys (tm) favor? "Also, surskit, you're doing great, bud. Keep on healing up Fisher as long as you can... And Fisher, once you're behind the front lines..." The water type was pulled out of the fight, but still had a few tricks that could impact this fight. "Use Rain Dance." Between the surskit and lapras, fire types should be made pretty much impotent.

Almost grinding his teeth as he sees the next pokemon, seriously, more ground types? Marik is tough, especially with all of his defense being up, but quad-effectiveness would still tear him apart! So as Mina pulls back the unconscious psychic type, Mark sends Fisher, who was sadly still the best choice for the front lines, and keeps Marik back as he applies a super potion to heal up the water type after the spikes.

"Fisher, water-pulse the more healthy Wispaferyn . Mina, Pellena, keep that geodude up as long as you can." If it could build up the roll outs just a little bit more, the speedy little rock type would be an absolute monster.

Well the plan was still going strong, now. But with that last hit... Fisher was going to need a lot of help now. And likely wasn't going to stay up after this round. So he'd better do what he could, and quickly. "Alright, Fisher. Hang in there bud, and Water Pulse that strongest Sandslash." Making sure that went down before it could really ramp out rollouts was going to be key to taking down another key Bandra asset. Mark also uses another Super potion on the water type to try and keep its wounds from mounting, and looks at Matt and Wain before asking, "Think one of you could help me top him off quick? And Wain, could you have Vespiqueen block for him?" The bug type was tanky, and if Fisher could get one more round of attacks in, they could take care of a lot of these problematic rock and ground types.

“Hey guys?” There’s a distinct note of concern in Pellana’s voice. “All I have left for healing is Iapapa Berries!”

Ranger Wain struggles out of his pack as quickly as he can manage and tosses it to her. “Here, take mine!”

Mark uses Super Potion on Fisher! ((-1 Super Potion, 6 remaining))
Fisher regains 50 HP! ((87 HP total))

Matt uses Super Potion on Fisher! ((-1 Super Potion, 1 remaining))

Well, Vespiqueen's interception had done what they'd wanted, and given Fisher the attack he'd managed to get off... but the bug type was rather beaten up after all of that. With two sandshrew still up, and their rollouts starting to build up steam, Mark suspected that even the tanky bug might not be able to stay up much longer. Which only made Fisher more important, since he was the last water type on their side of the field that was tough enough to likely take a hit from one of these ground types, and then clap back. And from how Bandra had just tried to gang up on Fisher, that just made it easier for Mark to make up his mind on this next call.

Applying his last potion to the Vespiqueen, hopefully making her tanky enough to intercept another round of attacks, Mark tells Wain, "Have her intercept for Fisher again." To his pokemon, Mark commands, "Fisher, use Sing on all of the Bandra pokemon that are currently out." It might not take a pokemon out of the fight permanently, but if that sing could land on at least three of their enemies, then that would buy our heroes a good bit of time. Especially if Bandra decided to swap their sleeping pokemon out instead of trying to force them to wake up.

Recalling Fisher with a wince, well THAT went horribly, Mark sends in Marick and says, "Okay, Wain, Surskit is probably our best bet. With bubble, it should do some damage to those sandshrews." The group was almost there, they just needed to take down these last few ground types and the Ariados (if Geodude could one-shot this next one too,) and then they should be able to simply overwhelm the remaining pokemon that the goons threw out with sheer numbers. "Marick, intercept attacks for the surskit." With his defenses and resistances to rock type moves, he should be able to protect the little bug from rollouts a lot more effectively than the Vespiqueen had been able to.

Mark's face goes blank when his Aaron goes down, and he takes a step back. Well. It's not as bad as what happened to the poor Surskit. And this was definitely going to be cut close, no matter what. "Wain, Swinub," of all pokemon, "is probably our next best choice for taking down those Sandslash. Try to screen it with the Whismur and Slakoth. And get spoink in there to try and do some real damage to that Machoke."

At this point, Mark is running a bit low on healing items in addition to their side running low on pokemon, but he'd feed Geodude a Sitrus berry to keep the rock type out of one-shot territory. "Just keep going, bud, take out that last Ariados." Bandra was pretty low now, right? Just these last few pokemon and the Graveler, if Mark's count wasn't off.
