Sengar nips you several times for your trouble, hard enough to draw blood on your natural hand. But after the cologne bottle is empty you’re sure there’s a little more sanity in those mad eyes, which the Pokédex confirms.

((-1 Sneak Scent, 0 remaining. Sengar’s Shadow Gauge is now 70%.))

I don't know if putting him to sleep before massaging him would help, but in case things go south we should be ready for that." I say pulling out a bottle of Relax scent and Ratman's pokeball. “Do you mind not doing that right in front of my stall?” The scent seller gestures to the suddenly-empty area around you, your Pokémon, and of course the Scent Stall, as people who were browsing Cologne or going into or out of Trainer Hill back away from the obviously dangerous Shadow Pokémon suddenly in their midst. Ratman’s teeth chatter together like sharp blades as he eyes the people ringing him.

Ow. Ow. OW! Okay, enough of that nibbling. Shaking his hand off, and thinking he should go get a bandage and disinfectant from the nurse, Mark would check his pokedex to ensure that the cologne had taken some effect, and then he recalls the dark type. Ow. Yeah, actually, that's where he was going to go now. Investigating the new arrivals could wait until after bandages.

“Oh my,” the nurse in Trainer Hill exclaims. A small number of onlookers also look horrified, pitying, or sympathetic at the sight of your blood – the latter two being obviously trainers.

The nurse is quick to produce disinfectant, bandages, and a pair of thick gloves to prevent a reoccurrence. ((+ Thick Gloves))

You relocate and proceed with the Cologne massage. You very nearly lose your hand before Gastly puts the Normal type safely to sleep, and even then Ratman twitches violently while you apply the Cologne. But afterwards the Pokédex reports a significant decrease in Ratman’s Shadow Gauge. ((-45% with the Sacred Talisman boost, 55% remaining. -1 Relax Scent, 1 remaining.))

Well, looking at the bandages, at least Mark and Mina had something in common now. They'd be able to bond over that, if she ever returned his message. Hopefully those bites would heal up quickly, because they were tender. Mark thanked the nurse for her help and moved on.

Storing his shadowed pokemon for the rest of the night, Mark withdrew his Ariados and decided to get to work on this problem as well. After getting something to eat for dinner, he'd spend an hour outside trying to re-train his bug pokemon on the basics, a few more hours training Fisher up to the next level, and then the rest of the night drawing.

The pictures he got done that night were a sketch of his opponents (with one in particular of the first trainer and his aron, with a caption reading, "Bluh, bluh, toxic dig trick room I'm so special and unique bluh." And a second sketch of his bandaged hand with a next to it.) After getting those done, he goes to sleep to get ready for the next day, camp full of people entirely forgotten.

((Well, since I can now and I have a nice bed back in Ceris, I'll be doing that instead of trying to bum it on a couch or under a bush. Yes. Also since I'm here...))

Another day, another round of trying to deshadow his pokemon. Storing his ariados and withdrawing Sengar once again, and he goes to the safe facility that he'd used to de-shadow his Chevalin. Sending out his aron, Lapras and corphish first, he has his steel type and crab use moves to max out their defense. Once they are done, he then has Fisher use mist to try and account for possible stat adjustments that might come from shadow enraging, and Rain dance to increase the potential healing effect that Fisher will gain from his crophish. Once all of that was out of the way, Mark finally sends out Sengar and says, "Okay bud, we're going to try and de-shadow you again, more properly this time. So. Fisher use Sing, Sengar use Endure."

((I'm guessing we can go until Sengar berzerks, and hopefully the three other pokemon will be able to take him down without much trouble once he does. Fisher will be using Mist and Rain Dance once those moves lose effectiveness to keep them up until the berzerking happens))

Wow that was a huge decrease! That talisman is more useful than I initially realized, but then again I never intended to have my whole team wiped out and shadowed. I suppose if I repeat Ratman tomorrow I'd have him nearly back to normal. For now though, as he's sleeping, let's remove that Talisman and put it on Wythir.

"Alright Poli and Gastly, I'll put Ratman away in his ball and bring Wythir out, same plan. If things go south and Wythir tries to murder me, put her to sleep. Actually, would putting her to sleep first be better for massaging? I don't want her thinking we're attacking her deliberately... Ahhhh let's just stick to the initial plan." I say rubbing my chin in contemplation. I carefully remove the Sacred Talisman off Ratman, return him to his ball, and call out Wythir.

"Easy girl! I say holding my hand out cautiously to try to keep her calm. "You're just so pretty I want to put this beautiful talisman on you to add to your beauty." I can't help trembling as I inch closer and closer as I try to put the Talisman on. Almost got it... just a little further... Ah! Got it!

Alright, now for that sneak scent. Let's see if we can get her massaged without any incidents.

Fisher uses Sing!
Sengar fell Asleep!

Fisher’s beautiful voice sends Sengar off to dreamland before he can move.

Sengar’s Shadow Gauge falls 2%!

The tension in the room is thick enough to cut as Sengar snoozes for some time ((3 rounds, -6% Shadow Gauge)). Fisher is renewing the Rain Dance when he startles awake.

Unfortunately, he’s not in an obeying mood when he wakes up.

Sengar uses Shadow Rush!
Fisher is hit for 24 damage!
Sengar takes 6 recoil damage!
Sengar’s Shadow Gauge falls 2%!

The Mist fades.

((Rain in effect (4 rounds remaining)))

Sengar: 84/90 (Shadowed: 60%
Marick: 82/82 (Defense up 6 levels)
Fisher: 110/134
Corphish: 77/77 (Defense up 6 levels)

----------------

Matt:

Wythir stomps the ground threateningly but you manage to put the Sacred Talisman on her without injury – to you or to her. By the time you’re finished with the massage she’s leaning into your hands, but she still starts and tosses her head at strange sounds. ((-1 Sneak Scent, 0 remaining, -45% Shadow Gauge, Wythir’s Shadow Gauge is now 55%))

Well, this was always potentially going to happen, so Mark wouldn't start sweating yet. "Fisher, use Mist, Corphish use Bubblebeam on Fisher, Marick intercept any attack move that Sengar uses on Corphish or me. Sengar," Hopefully the dark type would think clearly enough to listen this time, "Use helping hand on Corphish." Maybe the fact that Corphish was technically attacking one of Sengar's 'foes' would make the dark type more willing to help.

Fisher uses Mist!

The mist once again descends on the battlefield.

Sengar uses Shadow Half!
Sengar loses 42 HP!
Marick intercepts for Corphish!
Marick loses 41 HP!
Fisher loses 55 HP!

Corphish uses Bubblebeam!
Fisher restores 33 HP!

Sengar’s Shadow Gauge falls 2%!

((Rain in effect (3 rounds remaining), Mist in effect (4 rounds remaining)))

Marick: 41/82 (Defense up 6 levels)

Poli and Gastly both indicate (as far as you can tell) that they’re fine.

While you’re pretty sure that look in Weepinbell’s eyes is predatory, at this point he doesn’t make any seriously hostile moves.

Sticky for Weepinbell, Bright for Flaaffy, and Relax for Taillow, swapping the Talisman to which ever is out being massaged. As for whom to swap I'll swap Weepinbell and Wythir. Once they've all gotten their day's worth of massage we'll head back to the Scent dealer and buy one of each (I think I can afford that?) of the Relax, Sticky, Sneak, and Bright. If time permits, I would like to try my hand in the Trainer Hill combat thing.

You are able to successfully apply Cologne to each of your Shadowed Pokémon, and you don’t lose any fingers in the process. ((-1 Sticky Scent, -1 Bright Scent, -1 Relax Scent, 0 remaining of each. All your Shadowed Pokémon are now down to 55%. ))

You go to buy more Cologne and find that you’re 200 PD short ((price: 3600 PD current funds: 3400 PD)), but the stall keeper takes pity on you and gives you the fourth one anyway – with the admonishment that this is a one time thing. ((+1 Relax, Sneak, Sticky, and Bright Scents; -3400 PD, 0 PD remaining))

It’s about 12:30 in the afternoon when you complete your purchases; plenty of time for Trainer Hill. ((You want a Normal, Double, or Roulette challenge, and which Pokémon are you planning to use?))

Okay... okay, maybe he could squeeze one or two more turns out of this. Yes Mark was getting greedy. So he ordered, "Marick, use Metal Claw again, Fisher just wait for a second and use Sing if Sengar wakes back up, and Corphish use Bubblebeam on Fisher again." Even just one more turn of de-shadowing would be great.
