Draloed:

Dove nods and says:

"Off we go then!"

She attempts to run out of the Pokémon Center and nearly faints because of fatigue. One of the nurses reminds her forcefully that she can't overexert herself. Dove bites off an expletive as she calls out Bayleef.

"Looks like I need a ride, hun.", she says slowly to her Grass-type Pokémon as she tries to catch her breath.

Dove gets on the Bayleef's back as the Pokémon starts running to where the Breeder indicated. You follow along as quick as you can.

((ETA: 1 more turn of the Stacey battle. Assume that your trip started when the Murkrow fainted, which was last turn. ))

Mina cheered the Ranger briefly before moving on.

The conversation between the two villagers didn’t surprise her; it fit reasonably well with everything else she’d learned. She was also looking forward to that evening when the group could get back together and compare notes; she was looking forward to what the others had found out.

But as she wandered around in the crowds, she felt a little nip of worry. Elder Roden would need to be rescued, but twice now she’d been told that the Spectral Dimension was Not Pokemon Friendly. Zorpaleus had obviously been fine, but he was a native; Pidgey and Pichu would probably fare badly.

She pondered this as she walked until it occurred to her who she could ask. The lady who’d given her the HM was a scientist; if she didn’t know anything about the Spectral Dimension herself, maybe she’d know someone else who did. Even if it was someone in another city several days’ travel away it was better than nothing.

She set off for the blue tent.

Draloed:

((Noted. Waiting on Stacey to take one more turn before you guys get there. ))

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Mina:

As you near the blue tent, you notice that the surrounding area looks somewhat damaged, as if tremors had torn through the ground. The villagers seem to be whipped into a frenzy as well, for some reason.

You reach the blue tent and enter it.

You see the scientist from before, sitting in the same spot as before, examining a Red Shard. You can't help but wonder if she ever stops examining those Shards to do anything else (like eat, for example.). She looks up at you and says:

"Good afternoon! Did you find some of those Shards I'm looking for?"

((Answer what you will here. Cutting to the next question.))

After having answered that first question, you ask her about the Spectral Dimension. She perks up and asks, in a surprisingly harsh tone:

"What business do you have there?"

You are thrown back by her tone, but tell her about what has happened to Elder Roden anyway. She softens up and answers:

"I apologize for my tone, but that dimension is not meant for us."

She stays silent for a few moments as she says:

"I've been there."

She gets up from her chair ((OMG! She can MOVE!!! )) and goes over to a chest she has in a corner of the tent. She opens it with a key and takes out a strange rock of some sort.

Afterwards, the scientist walks back to you, rock in hand, and shows it to you.

You examine it and notice that it is a fossil. The Pokémon fossilized inside of the rock is unlike any you've ever seen before. It looks it's made of pure liquid...yet the body shape it has would be completely unsustainable if it were water-based.

Noticing your interest in the fossil, she then says:

"That is a fossilized Spectral Pokémon. You see, in the Spectral Dimension, non-Spectral Pokémon slowly become corrupted by negative energy the longer they remain outside of their Poké Balls. It wouldn't be good if one of your Pokémon turned on you mid-battle. That's why I beg you not to go into that dimension."

She then says:

"But, if you won't be dissuaded, I might as well..."

She drifts off and takes the fossil from your hands. She goes to another corner of the tent, where she has a strange machine that you hadn't noticed before. She places the fossil inside of the machine and says:

"This is a Fossil Rejuvenator. This'll revive whatever is inside of the fossil."

A few minutes pass.
Afterwards...the fossil suddenly bursts open. The Pokémon that breaks out of it is about four feet tall, with the tail of a merman, the head of a dragon, and the body of snake ((it has two arms though)). At least, that's what it appears to be, since it seems to be made of a strange liquid you've never seen before.

The scientist beams as she introduces the strange Pokémon to you:

"Meet Oodramer!"

The strange Pokémon looks at the scientist and then at you, alternating its gaze every few seconds. Afterwards, it moves closer to you and stares at you intently. Finally, it takes one of your empty Pokéballs and inserts itself into it ((creepy, eh? ))

You have "caught" an Oodramer!
Would you like to nickname the newly "caught" Pokémon?

Level: 15
Type: Spectral/Normal ((couldn't help myself! sorry! ))
(All other stats to be worked out in the near future))

Misty winces at the sight of the pokemon and brings out her pokedex.  "This is not going to be too good if he has more like that." she whispers to herself.  She only has two options vs rock, so she goes with her sturdiest of the two.  "Geodude go."

Knowing sandstorm wouldn't do much, and substitution is only a stall tactic she is limited to two options.  Defense or ancient power.  Well ancient power didn't let her down before.  "Geodude, ancient power!"

The Ruin Maniac looks confused as the attack connects:

Sudowoodo takes 14 points of damage! ((better. ))

After your attack, the Maniac flashes an insane grin and says:

"Sudowoodo! Wood Hammer!"

The crowd is as shocked as you are as the ridiculously over-powered Grass-Type attack connects:

Sudowoodo uses Wood Hammer!
Geodude takes 42 points of damage! ((so close!))
It's super effective!
Sudowoodo's Rock Head ability prevents recoil damage!

Geodude uses its held Ganlon Berry to increase its Defense by two levels!

((Cool!!! New Pokemon! ))

Mina surveyed the area curiously. The people around the tents were milling about, agitated about something, though she didn’t stop to ask what. The ground here also looked like it had been picked up and shook; odd.

A puff of dark down feathers rolled by as Mina pushed past the tent flap.

"Good afternoon! Did you find some of those Shards I'm looking for?"

“I didn’t, but I think some of the rest of my group might have some; we haven’t had much chance to get together recently what with the tournament. I actually came to ask if you knew anything about the Spectral Dimension, or knew anyone who could tell me about it.”

Mina abruptly found herself on the receiving end of a very piercing gaze. The woman snapped, "What business do you have there?"

Mina stepped back a little and almost reached for a Pokeball to protect herself.

“I—Elder Roden got thrown into the Spectral Dimension a few months ago, and he’s been trapped ever since. I—I mean, my group and I—we have to get him, if we can. He’s in trouble.” Mina tried to bring herself to speak of the threatening figure she’d seen tear the old man away, but somehow couldn’t form the words. They just died in her throat.

The woman seemed to lose her edge. "I apologize for my tone, but that dimension is not meant for us."

Mina nodded agreement. “That’s why I can’t leave him there,” she responded quietly. “Even if helping him wouldn’t hinder Team Bandra, I can’t leave him trapped.”

A lengthy pause drew out between the two, finally broken by the scientist. "I've been there."

“Really?”

The woman got up and retrieved an odd rock from her locked chest, then brought it over to Mina. It was pale and rough, except for a dark patch in the lighter stone, which was smooth and watery-seeming but without any trace of scales or fins that would suggest a Water type.

"That is a fossilized Spectral Pokémon. You see, in the Spectral Dimension, non-Spectral Pokémon slowly become corrupted by negative energy the longer they remain outside of their Poké Balls.” Mina nodded. She knew this. ”It wouldn't be good if one of your Pokémon turned on you mid-battle. That's why I beg you not to go into that dimension."

“I don’t have a choice, miss,” Mina replied softly, rubbing the dark portion of the stone curiously. It felt…odd. Strange. Like nothing she’d ever felt before, and certainly not something she would have expected to be a rock.

"But, if you won't be dissuaded, I might as well..."

The scientist took the fossil back and placed it in an odd contraption of tubes, pistons and orange liquid ((creation fluid, or whatever they called it in the anime)). She hit a few buttons as she explained.

"This is a Fossil Rejuvenator. This'll revive whatever is inside of the fossil."

The machine hissed, whirred and made the most disturbing squelching noise Mina thought she’d ever heard. Finally, the fossil inside…burst.

The creature that resulted looked like no Pokemon she’d ever seen before. ((Big surprise there. ))

"Meet Oodramer!"

Eerie, unblinking eyes shifted between Mina and the scientist. ((Your NPC needs a name, winter. )) At last Oodramer slowly eased over to Mina, leaving a clear, swiftly-evaporating trail on the tent floor and looked into her eyes. Mina was afraid to blink, and so stared nervously back, feeling like a deer in headlights. Slowly, easily, the Spectral type reached into a pocket of her pack (which was open she realized with a start). Mina could feel the odd ooze brushing against her cheek as the once-fossil pulled out a Pokeball—and very deliberately pushed the button.

Mina, whose highest hopes had involved advice that didn’t involve going halfway across the continent to get or maybe an item to stave off the effects of the Spectral Dimension, was floored. She stood there gaping for a moment, then bowed low to the lady scientist.

“Thank you, miss…and it seems I owe you a hundred and five Shards.”

The other member of the group, as was her nature, had wandered off yet again, this time once again in search of her Zigzagoon, whom she never kept in its Pokéball and it thus it frequently ran off. It certainly had no intention of leaving her... it was just infinitely curious and dashed off at the sight of something interesting.

"Zigzagoon, come back!" she called, standing at the edge of town. Zigzagoon had run off into the wilderness, and she was worried that it was going to be attacked by a wild Pokémon. She was carrying her Buizel in a firm hug, more for her own comfort than its, and she made sure to check that her Sandshrew was close by at all times. In town, it was just annoying if they got separated. Out here, it could be very bad for her Pokémon to be going off alone. She took a few steps out of the borders of the town, but when she still couldn't see it, she started walking all the way out, looking about for it.

"Come on, Zigzagoon! How are we supposed to find the Spectral Dimension without you? Where did you go..." she continued calling as she walked.

“Nice to be formally introduced; I’m Mina.”

"Any other way I can help?"

“Can you tell me what else to expect in the Spectral Dimension?” A thought occurred. “Oh, and! Will Oodramer be in any danger from being in this dimension?”

((Later, during the fourth block…because I want to do my cheering in person drat it. ))

Mina, who had been wandering back and forth between the two arenas in which her friends were battling, whistled loudly.

Whooo! Go Misty!

Her arrival was just recent enough to catch Sudowoodo being knocked unconscious, but from the comments of the other spectators her friend had been in trouble before that.

Mina:

((No problem. ))

Lily closes her eyes in thought and opens them several seconds later:

"Well, for one, the Spectral Dimension is a replica of this one, so you can expect the same landmarks in the same places. However, for obvious reasons, you may not find villages/town/inhabited areas where they are in this dimension. I'd go on and on about why these two dimensions are clones...but, it's a bit complicated. Also, the Spectral Region is divided into 7...um...how should I say...city-states, for lack of a better word. Each city-state is controlled by a Lord Pokémon. The city-state you would end up in if you take the convergence that will appear near here in 2 days is called..."

She takes a paper and writes it down, since the pronunciation is vastly different from the name:

"...Pyrsltn (pronounced Pyre-sil-tin. The overlord of that part of the region is ruthless and heartless. Don't assume, however, that all 7 are like that. In fact, if you can reach the southwest part of this region, the periodic convergences will take you to a veritable Pokémon paradise, overseen by a benevolent Lord Pokémon. I don't know her name though."

She then turns pale as she adds:

"Beware though, each Lord Pokémon is much more powerful than any other Pokémon you've ever had to face before ((she assumes you've never fought a Legendary; the Lords are considered Uber Legendaries. ))"

She then starts turning away as she remembers your question related to the Oodramer. She adds:

"He'll be fine. Spectral-Types don't suffer the same problem as non-Spectral Types do in the other dimension. However, his attacks will probably be weaker in this dimension than in the other one."

She takes your Pokédex and looks it over. Afterwards, she gives it back and remarks:

"Well, you've had a run-in with a Shadow Pokémon before. That's what'll happen to all your Pokémon if they are exposed to the region too long ((in other words, take too long in battles and stuff )). The Pokéballs give them protection, so it'd be best to keep them inside and send them out only in emergencies. ((In a nutshell = Shadow Gauge increases slightly for every turn your non-Spectral Pokémon is in battle. As for any other effects, you'll have to find out yourself. ))
