Mina wondered if she should be concerned that the pair of them were so trusting with their primary form of identification; she decided not to worry about it now, however.
“That’s what this is for,” Mina said in response to Zack, taking both ‘dexes. “Nurse, can I get a link cable please?” There was a brief pause as the cable in question was produced. “Thanks.”
She sat down and hooked Brona’s Pokedex up to her own, then Zack’s, following the steps Fate had outlined to get them into the group network. Once she was done she gave the boys back their Pokedexes, the screens of which now read:
Pokédex Connectivity Communication Protocol Download Complete!
Interactive Region Map Protocol Download Complete!
Text Messaging Protocol Download Complete!
Breeding Tutorial Download Complete!
Wireless Phone Comm Protocol Download Complete!
“There we are. Now your ‘dexes are linked to the rest of us, so you can text us if we get separated.”
Mina made to put her own Pokedex away only to notice that hers had an update as well ((and so does everyone else who’s not Brona)):
Encryption/Decryption Protocol Download Complete!
Mina eyed it with slight surprise. Huh. Must be a Starlight Squad App.

"Great." Brona said, then frowned. Hey, she could easily have taken alot of information about me from my dex. Man, I have to start thinking ahead... Yeye, no harm done. I kinda trust her anyway. he thought. Then he noticed everyone else getting a new app. "Hey, I got that one some time ago." he said. "It works great!"

Christian recalled both pokémon before he threw the pokéballs outside and released the two there. He then turned back to the nurse and said "I just remembered. There is a long time since I updated my pokédex. So I was just wondering if you could update it for me."

"Oh btw., I am not too familiar with the route we're going to take, any of you guys who know how to scan the area with the pokedex for possible encounters? You know, just in case something interesting might pop up?"

“Yeah, we’d better,” Mina agreed. “But I wouldn’t worry about scanning; odds are if something interesting shows up it’ll attack us.”
She didn’t mention that their biggest danger was probably going to be from other humans, something the Pokedex wouldn’t be much help with.

You send your Pokemon outside to continue their friendly (?) scuffle and ask the Nurse about upgrades.
The Nurse looks apologetic. “I’m sorry but I can’t do that here.”
((Only a certain class of people normally have access to Pokedex upgraders remember.  ))

Main Group:
The group sets off from Ternai Town, Brona leading the way across country.
((Roll = 25))
A few hours into the journey, the group hears distant sounds of battle—crackling electricity and squealing tires. The commotion is just barely visible to the southeast.

Main group:
At Zack’s insistence, the group takes a brief detour.
The electric crackling noises lead them to a pack of blue cat-like Pokemon ((Shinx and Luxio)) doing battle with a pair of humans on a four-wheeler. The latter are weaving in and out of the pack at high speed, accompanied by a Gligar who gleefully intercepts the electric attacks thrown their way by the cat Pokemon. The man in back is also visibly armed, with one projectile weapon aimed at the gathered Pokemon and a couple more of different designs strapped about his person. Every now and then one of the Electric types goes down as he fires and a bola erupts from the end of the weapon.

Brona lets out his Gastly just in case, and whispers to it "If they get aggressive toward us, use haze to give us cover." He looks over toward the others to see what move they decide to make, but decides to make a snap decision.
"Hey, stop that!" he shouts. "If you're going to catch a pokemon you do it the honorable way, what you're doing is just plain evil!"

Main Group:
“So what?” quips the driver. The four-wheeler skids to a halt; the cat Pokemon are held at bay by a combination of the man with the bola-gun and a Sand Attack from the Gligar. “Those Pokemon are worth hundreds on the black market, you really think we’re going to give up that kind of coin just because you say so?”

Mina gestured to her Sandshrew (who she’d left out for the journey to try and make amends for getting her knocked out earlier) to lay low and went to back Brona up.
“Pokemon hunters,” she growled under her breath. She’d only heard about them second hand from her mother, but knew enough to know they were bad news.

Misty gets one of those looks, one of the looks that normally spells trouble for the rest of the group. "To get them, you will have to go through me." She doesn't have anything yet good against something in the air..but she has something good against bug types..and against nets.
"Growlithe come on out." she calls Growlithe out. "Get ready to use fire spin if needed."

Going aggressive? Okay then. Brona thought, and sent out Growlithe, Magby and Grimer. "Grimer use poison gas, Magby use smog, Growlithe use ember. Gastly, use mean look on their leader. No way we're letting them run!"

Mina called out her Electric type, leaving Sandshrew hidden in the brush for now—just in case they needed backup. “Pikachu, Thunder Wave him!” she gestured to the man with the bola-gun. Whatever else they did, Mina decided, she did not want that man using his toys on their Pokemon. Who knew what the rest of those things did?

Stacey steps up, having been stalled by a loose shoestring, and checks out what has happened. Hunters, a gligar, and her friends seeming to be ready for a battle. There was sand around, and it seemed to not be used on the gligar. So, it must be used by it. It could make it difficult to hit the thing, if it chose to use it on them over several rounds. She reached for a pokeball.
"Mona, come out, and hit that gligar with some of your sweet scent."
