“What are you doing here? You don’t act like a trainer out for badges.”

A very real look of pain crossed Zelgius's face when Mina asked him. He clutched his shoulders as if remembering how his scars had gotten there, and Zelgius sat in a fetal position for a few seconds. "Alright. I'll tell you. It's going to be a while before this meeting starts anyway, and I think that keeping it..." Zelgius grimaced and was silent for a few seconds.

"My name is Zelgius Lorend. I am a Lieutenant in the Johto armed forces... At least, I was." He broke the silence. "I was a field medic. In the two years that I was an active military member, I saw things that would drive most people mad, and I saw two of my friends take their own life. But that is not why I am here." He fell silent again.

"One day, the captain and some of my other friends, Jason, Max, Alan, Markus and Drake, we all went out for a hike while on vacation, sort of a scouting mission, sort of in Helnith territory I guess... We ran into a Bandra Platoon." Hatred spiked Zelgius's voice, "We fought for two hours against them, hoping that we could hurt the Bandra forces enough to send them running, but there were too many of them. I watched my squad and friends die around me, Cap. died first, and then Max, Alan, and Drake. Mark and I only escaped because they thought that the blood on us was from us and they left me and him for dead."

"Mark almost did die. His arm was so mangled that..." Zelgius stops again, not talking for a minute now. When he starts for the final time, Mina could see that he was silently crying. "I couldn't save him there on the field with his arm bleeding that badly. I forced myself to amputate it, so that I could save him... We dodged the rest of the Bandra forces that got in our way, eventually arriving at a fort that guards the road between Johto and Helnith. I dragged Mark inside before I collapsed, exhausted. When I woke up, it was four days later. The commander stationed at the fort sent me home to have loved ones around me."

"The commander has me on an undefined period of relieved duty, and I decided to come here. When I found Bandra... I will exterminate that organization if it is the last thing I do. Not a single one of those monsters will escape if I have my way... Not one." Zelgius unclenched his fist. "Heh, sorry for unloading my life's problems on you... I really don't even know you, not even your name. And I'm sorry that I got in your way... I truly did think that you were Bandra agents. If I had known better... I am sorry."

((Yeah I did.))

Christian started looking around himself trying to find the other ones in the group. He then noticed Mina looking dead tired sitting next to the ambush-man, both of them looked slightly annoyed. "Heh." Christan thought "Wonder if they need someone to be a medium here." so he started walking over towards them. When he got within hearing range he heard Zelgius, he did present himself as such, started talking about his life story. Christian stopped and stood there listening for awhile, not moving or interrupting before Zelgius was done.

"Heh, sorry for unloading my life's problems on you... I really don't even know you, not even your name. And I'm sorry that I got in your way... I truly did think that you were Bandra agents. If I had known better... I am sorry."

Christian then broke into the conversation "Not really anything to be sorry about. During these times you never know who is on who's side, believe me, I've been there and done that. Ohh sorry for breaking into your conversation unannounced! My name is Christian, Starlight agent, I think we met by the ambush site earlier, ohh and I am sorry about waking you up with the copy machine, but Elren's orders are Elren's orders." Christian shrugged and turned to Mina "I was kind of hoping to catch up with you and the rest of the group at some point, do you know where the others are?" he asked and looked around.

Mina digested this piece of intelligence quietly, keeping her responses down to nodding and sympathetic noises. She wasn’t sure she believed him; he was laying it on awfully thick for someone he didn’t know and she didn’t think it was stretching probability that he might be a Bandra spy. She kept her expression neutral however (the nap having largely restored her self control); she didn’t have proof one way or another, and in the guy’s defense, he might just be delusional. In any case, she was spared having to answer as Christian began steering the conversation.

"Not really anything to be sorry about. During these times you never know who is on who's side, believe me, I've been there and done that.”

Mina felt her face go mask-like at this comment; the strain against saying something indiscreet was tremendous. She pretended to rub sleep out of her eyes to cover it, and managed to regain a more natural expression by the time Christian addressed her.

"I was kind of hoping to catch up with you and the rest of the group at some point, do you know where the others are?"

“I haven’t seen Misty since we got here” and a good thing too; the redhead was due for a tongue lashing at the very least once they were all out of danger. “I know I saw Stacey around here somewhere and Brona’s over there.” She gestured. “Though I suppose you and he haven’t been formally introduced yet…”

----------------

((In the interest of keeping the game moving, I’m going to post this bit now. You lot can still talk before the meeting starts however.))

Everyone but Jak:

Elren clears his throat and begins. “All of you are tired and battered and deserve all the rest you need. But I have to remind you that Bandra doesn’t care about our physical weaknesses and won’t give us the time to recuperate if they can help it.

Therefore, we need to decide what to do next. We can pack up now, and press on to Ternai Town through the night, or stay here until morning, and hope Bandra doesn’t catch up with us.”

Some murmuring picks up at this, mostly protests interspersed with the occasional “Wait, what do you mean?” “They’re still coming?” “Bandra’s coming here?!”

Another voice speaks up; the group members recognize Mina. “What do you mean hope? Don’t we know where they are? What happened to that radio we snatched for you?”

“We lost all radio transmissions from Bandra shortly after we got out of the mountains; we’re not sure why. It may just be interference from the mountains themselves, or it might be that Bandra found out about the theft and cut communications deliberately.” Dien smiles sourly. “Really, we’re lucky it worked for as long as it did.”

“But since we can’t depend on it any more,” Sesh picks up, “we’ll be running blind whatever we do.” He turns to his fellow lieutenants and it soon becomes clear that the Starlight Squad brass are continuing an argument they’ve already started in private. “What we should do now is leave immediately and burn down the Center behind us, so Bandra can’t use it against us—”

“That is entirely unnecessary,” Lijan protests from his perch on a nearby table. “If we can get a message to Rieva or Ceris they might be able to hold the road if we leave the Center here—and our wounded need time to recover, we already lost Ferris—”

“And that,” Elren cuts off the argument with long-suffering patience, “is what we’re here to decide.” His gaze sweeps those assembled. “Does anyone have anything they would like to add?”

Zelgius stood up and told Elren, "Yes, I do. I saved one of your people, but just barely. Even with the help of one of your pokemon using wish, I was barely able to stabilize him. If you move him before tomorrow, I assure you that you will kill him."

"Also, I question whether you have thought out the plan of running off in the night over very well. Your people are exhausted and wounded. Many of your pokemon are barely recovered, and many others can barely drag themselves out of their beds. If a Bandra force of any size attacks you, you will have more then just one dead trainer on your hands. The pokemon center would at least give you walls if they attack you."

"Brona?" Christian looked curiously over towards the point Mina had gestured "Ohh that is just grand! They got him over here as well now? Now don't get me wrong I got nothing against the guy, but I would rather not talk to the others of the squad. It is bad enough facing Elren and the three others." Christian took another look around the room in an attempt to spot Misty which he didn't so he sat down on an empty spot on the floor.

“Does anyone have anything they would like to add?”

"Yeah! I do!" Christian stood up "I would suggest not going back to Ternai. My gut tells me that Aidrelas does not like losing ground and towns and that they will be mounting and even bigger assault on Ternai soon enough to take it back. But then again, with the situation being as it is in Hillsbreak, they will probably be concentrating on getting that foothold back first." Christian nodded and sat down again.

Brona rose after Christian was finished. "Staying here would be an even bigger risk than having to fight outdoors. If they decide to attack the walls instead they could bring the roof down over our heads and take care of those trying to escape out the exits. If we are caught here we are trapped, if we meet them outside we will at least stand a chance. I have no idea and therefor no input as to what we will do regarding Ternai." he sat back down again.

"That might be true if... Does someone have a map?" Zelgius asked the trainers in general. One of them held up a slightly abused paice of folded paper and brought it to him. "Thank you. Anyone who wants to argue with me, come over here."

"Now, what our friend over there said might be true, if we didn't have caves about a half meter away from the pokemon center to the north and south." He pointed at the geographical locations. "they don't really appear on the map because they are little more then indents, but they are both big enough to hold four or five trainers each. I found them on my scouting trips."

"If Bandra finds us and decides to attack, the most likely places will be from the main road," He pointed at it, "Which runs east-west of the caves, and the other place would be from the four side paths," He gestured on the map again, "which makes a wedge around the caves. These are the perfect natural ambush points, because if Bandra attacks us, the trainers in the caves will come up from behind them and be able to take out the Bandra agents themselves with very little risk. The ones who don't immediately fall will be in between a rock and a very hard place."

"Any questions?"

Zack never had the stomach to speak in front of a large crowd and he certainly wasn't going to be able to now.

During the entire meeting he sat back, absorbing the information, wondering if it would not be better to hide those who can't be moved in these caves and otherwise get moving, though as he wasn't going to propose this, he remained calm and looked at the others discussing what to do next.

Sarah had this far been observing the entire meeting. Since she hadn't experienced any "hostile" encounters with Bandra she lacked the weaknesses that which many of the others in the Pokemon Center had. Because of this fact she didn't oppose the idea of leaving for Ternai Town already this night. She knew she wouldn't have a problem with traveling this late.

However the idea of remaining here was appealing in a way, she was both longing for action and it would certainly give her more time to rest.
So when she heard Zelgius talk about some caves, ideas started to grow inside her.
If groups of us trainers would hide in those caves and be prepared to ambush possible Bandra aggressors, we'll be in a huge advantage. She thought, but thinking about making even another ambush this day made her somewhat uninspired.

Sarah knew that in order for an ambush to be successful they need to have to proper information, scouting needed to done and constantly keeping an eye out for strangers approaching the Center. If they were going to uses the element of surprised, the must be certain nothing can surprised them.

Sarah waited with saying her point of view about Zelgius's plan. Instead she just asked the elder, "Do we know how many of the Bandra we can expect? Because if there is going to be an army of them, an ambush wouldn't solve anything anyway."

Mina examined the map.

((White square = Pokemon Center
Yellow half-circles = caves
Green patches = bushes, trees, and thick undergrowth
Brown patches = rocky outcroppings
Gray paths = trails))

“Mmm-hmm.” She hmm’d, expression neutral. The placement looked decidedly sub-optimal to her. She’d seen the vegetation outside the Center on their arrival—it didn’t look impassable, but it would slow movement. This was assuming all went well and Bandra acted the way Mr. Zelgius Lorend expected. “You realize if we do that we aren’t going to be able to hit Bandra until they’re on top of the Pokemon Center I hope.”

And if they bring in helicopters they could just air-drop a bunch of Graveler and flatten the place before we can stop them. Not to mention that if people were hiding in these so-wonderful caves, one Magnitude might be all it would take to bury the ambush force alive…

----------------

Sarah:

"Do we know how many of the Bandra we can expect? Because if there is going to be an army of them, an ambush wouldn't solve anything anyway."

“There were about fifty of them behind us when we left the Shrine of Light,” Elren replies. “We tried to barricade the way as we went, but there are more trickier ways through the mountains they could have taken. All we know for sure is that we slowed them down.”

“That was the main force, as best as we can tell,” Sesh adds casually. “We know they had a few smaller encampments scattered through the mountains they might have redirected our way by now.”

“You realize if we do that we aren’t going to be able to hit Bandra until they’re on top of the Pokemon Center I hope.”

"Yes, I did. But you have to realize that it is one of the best plans we have available to us right now. Sure the Bandra forces might find us here. They also might have set up ambush points here, here and here on the main road, as that is the only path that a group of your size and condition could possibly move down in your current condition. Sure, there are allot of flaws with my plans, for instance, what if one of the Bandra agents gets really paranoid and discovers the caves? what if they find us and bring in copters, dropping boulders or Gravelers on our head, though we would hear them for about an hour before the copters even arrived, and we would be just as vulnerable on a mountain path as in this building."

"What if they bring in a legion of shadow pokemon? What if they have bombs? What if those thieving Bandra infiltrators stole a rocket and use it to drag a meteor down on top of us?" His last few comments were dripping with sarcasm. "Well, I don't know if the ifs are enough to outweigh the things that I know. I know that if we leave before morning, you will be personally responsible for killing one of your members, despite my repeated warnings. I Know that half of your people don't have the will or ability to raise their hands, let alone walk through the mountains at night! I Know that if you force your people to march tonight, that at least three of them will die from exposure because they don't have the proper clothing for the mountains! I know," His voice lowered so that only the people closest to Zelgius could hear him, "that all it would take is one slip, and you will have a rock slide on these main mountain paths that will wipe out all of your organization in seconds."

Zack was sitting comfortably as the discussion went on. Clearly this was a loose-loose situation, they didn't need him to speak up, that'd only waste more time.
Zack really wanted to get going! Then this new guy, tall, thin and with his black cap covering most of his brown hair, stood up: "what was the name again?" Zack thought to himself. "Ah yes it was Christian!"
~"they will be mounting and even bigger assault on Ternai soon"
"Well so much for that idea then."

Zack had been able to slightly overhear the area were Christian was seated, next to Mina and this strange fellow... "Zelgious was it?" Zack thought to himself. He had heard too much about his past and felt terrible for the poor guy. Zack had really tried to distance himself from all the trauma that was going on, getting emotionally distressed wasn't something that did anyone any good! Yet he could not help it occasionally happening, even for the siliest of reasons, he just hoped it'd not happen when it really mattered.
Clearing his thoughts: "I'll better go talk to this new guy sooner or later. I should probably also try to talk with those four other people who tried to stop us. Let them know that there are no hard feelings between us, for what I'm concerned at least!"

Yet Zack had trouble distancing himself from all this violence and death, he probably should never have come to this region anyway, at least not now. "So many people relying on me, and here I sit, unable to cope with a situation that I have been very fortunate not to be in before, a situation that I at the very least must be expected to handle."

In an attempt to distance himself, Zack started to thinking back on the time when he was younger, now completely overhearing pretty much all of the conversation: "Why can't life not just be all great, like back in Cherrygone? Every morning, I would watch this show... Power Rangers! Yes that was the name of it"
Thinking further back, Zack recalls from the show: "Ah yes, that was when I started to get interested in pokemons, they had their own pokemons, or they were not pokemons, but they were robots! Disguised as pokemons! Like the aerodactyl that would fly out of a volcano!"

Zack halfway starts dreaming, leaning back in a very relaxed position "Oh that aerodactyl was cool, but so was its owner, the pink Ranger, Kimberly! I thought she was awesome back then, but man, looking back at her now, she's captivating. Though the colour dress code they had was hillarious, she always managed to look irresistible, with her cute skirt and bare legs..."
Suddenly a sensation hits Zack, he can feel how the blood runs through his veins and his face goes completely red. As he can feel his pants lifting a little he leans forward into an awkward position.
"Argh, no! I did it again, if anyone asks... your stomach hurts, your stomach hurts, you stomach hurts" Zack thinks to himself sitting in a quite awkward position, feeling his entire face turning red, then realising: "If I say my stomach hurt, someone will insist a nurse should look at it, no I ate to much, I ate to much, I ate to much" Zack thinks to himself repeatedly:
Zack desperately tries to think of something else, as the picture of the enthralling beauty is stuck to his mind "Jason!" Zack thinks "Yes Jason, he was cool too, not because of being the leader, or because of the cool Tyranitar robot, no, because he was best friends with Zack!"
Zack had always admired the black Power Ranger, not because he was black as well, or because they had the same name... "He was so amazing, not because of his cool dance moves, but because he had real courage! He had all these fears and yet, after fighting hard, he managed to overcome them and each time he won a battle against something he feared, the next battle would be easier and he'd eventually win the war!".
Zack had always thought that when he grew up, he'd be just like that.
"But I'm not anything like that, I'm a failure, I can't assemble the courage to overcome my fear, even something as simple as giving a suggestion in front of a large group, I cannot!" Zack could feel how he started to turn red in his face again, dissapointed in his own inability, he tried to get the comfortable nostalgia back.
He could recall thoughts from his imagination as a kid, how he and his swinub, together, would defeat all opposition, yeah he had wanted a swinub: "Ah swinub, we'd have been an awesome team, just like Zack and his piloswine robot" Zack can feel how the pressure is diminishing, the red from his face has almost vanished, yet he's not comfortable sitting up in a normal position just yet, his thoughts continue to focus on his past as the other speaks: "Yeah me and swinub, we'd have been able to take down any opponent!" But eventhough Zack had wanted a swinub back then, the ice caverns where one could be found required dangerous travelling, either mountain climbing, going through Mt. Mortar or travel over lakes filled with strong pokemons, it was much to dangerous and since Cherrygone City is the only major city in Johto where there actually are no interest in pokemon, Zack never had any opportunity to get himself a swinub. When he had his fight with the mentality of his hometown many years later, randomly happening to come out here, no idea of the Bandra forces at the time, he had been given a mr. mime and a staryu as those were thought to be better able to protect him, until he'd got this stupid pokemon idea out of his head.
"I was so determined, so stupid"
Zack now places himself in a much more comfortable position, but he cannot follow the talk, as he's missed large parts of it already and it seems like everyone is refering to some earlier question. In stead, he take out his pokedex and search for locations of various pokemons:
((Dewgong, Donphan, Forretres, Jynx, Lickilicky, Lickitung, Ludicolo, Lumbre, Machop, Machope, Machamp, Phanphy, Pichu, Pikachu, Pineco, Seel, Smeargle, Smoochum, Swellow, Tailow))
Last night everyone had their own stuff to do, but as soon as he got the opportunity, he was going to ask one of his friends for a spare pokeball, with the promise of buying them two pokeballs when they got to the next mall.
((in case of autoing, Zack will ask in this order: Stacey, Brona, Mina, Draloed, Misty, Christian))
With the pokedex working and quite impossible to find out what the others were talking about, all he could do was wait, wait and dream himself into comfort. He had already once again made himself emotionally distressed during his thoughts, he was not going to repeat that! "Omega!" Zack thought to himself, Omega was a friend of Zacks back in Cherrygone, they used to play together every day at one point, but they grew apart. "I learned so much from him, always remember to use the environment to your advantage, don't be afraid to take advantage of someone lying down, don't hold back until you win and make sure whoever you're facing don't get up again!"
Omega had inspired Zack in a lot of ways, likewise Zack had inspired Omega to care for the problems of pokemon, as such Omega had left earlier than Zack, determined to go out, find an APC and show whoever acts bad around pokemons were going to deal with him. "Hmm, if we just had an APC now, heck if all of us had some kind of weaponry, we could take these Bandra out! Not because we can defeat the extreme power and animal reflexes of their pokemons, but because these Bandra members are typically so stupid that they don't call their pokemons forward until the very last moment. I would not hold it against them to do the same in any kind of frontal attack!"
Ah how Zack missed Omega, he was probably running around in an entire different region though, Zack thought to himself. Then suddenly he overhead something that made him stop his line of thoughts:
~"that all it would take is one slip, and you will have a rock slide on these main mountain paths that will wipe out all of your organization in seconds."
He could barely hear it and if it wasn't because of the very low voice used, he'd probably have missed it, but there it was!
Zack finally overcome his fear and rose up, preparing to speak with a deep and clear voice, forgetting all about his pants still sitting in a sligthly awkward position and his attempt of making his voice be throughout, made it not nearly as deep and authoritate as he wanted.
"I think" Zack said, with everyone looking at him, pausing for a moment and grasping for the courage to defeat his fear "I think that we can use the environment to our advantages!"
Zack said, maybe a bit too fast for everyone to understand, but at least he could see the elder was still attentive and seemed to have understood every word.
"We need to have scout out to warn us, we need to settle up, so we can use the rocks against team Bandra, we may have to tear down this building, but at the very least let's tear it down with them inside"
Zack couldn't avoid gasping at this thought, was he really going to become a murderer, was he no better than Bandra? Well, no he wasn't! He decided, at least not now:
"They're fit, we're not, they'll sooner or later catch us if we keep running, we'll loose more and more men, we're playing the cat after the mouse and we're running around confused" ... "I think" Zack said, not to certain of himself anymore, the words seemed so easy to put forward in his head, but now, had he even made any sense? He could feel how for the third time his cheeks were turning red, but he ignored it, really fought to get the next sentence out
"This is our battle field, we can have scouts out, we can have zubats and golbats to find weak spots in the structure of this place and the caves, Bandra are going to follow us, or hold back, if they follow us, we'll set off rock slides that'll crush the place they are, if they hold back, we'll get further and further away!".
Zack suddenly realised a flaw in his plan, someone would eventually have to stay back, Zack could not wait for an answer, they might not accept what he proposed, they might find something better. Zack hoped at least that would happen, but he wasn't going to be naive, if they didn't find something better, he'd probably have to take matter in his own hand, as such and with his cheeks turning even more red, Zack decided he needed to stay at least one step ahead and some fresh air could be nice. Zack stormed out, a good amount away from the pokemon center, he was all alone, he could feel the soft and chilling wind hit his face, cooling it off, the heat he had felt inside was clearly gone now, he could much easilier focus, it made him think twice, but he was certain he was far enough away from the pokemon center, he was certain it had to be done, he could be wrong, but he couldn't take that chance. He send out his archekat
"Archeokat go!"
He knew even if it wasn't going to follow him, at least it would hopefully have the compassion to help these people.
Zack just stood there, looking at the archeokat, ready to recall it if it didn't follow orders, then he said:
"Archeokat, we don't know eachother well and I'd not ask this of you, if I did not truely believe this was a grave situation, but I must know if you're ready to follow me, at least in this battle, because if I can't count on you now, it'll too dangerous!"
"Can he even understand human speech?" Zack thought to himself, as he called out his other pokemons "Staryu, Vigoroth, Psyduck and Mr. Mime go!" Zack called, hoping at least their presence would be a calming factor and if anything, at least the pokemons could get to know eachother.
"There are a group of people comming this way, they're going to seriously hurt innocent people inside the building over there" as Zack points "We need to be able to get these people to safety and doing so, we need your help" Zack says, though he could feel how his voice became less determined, the pokemon, even if it was going to follow his command, would probably think of him as a wuss by now, but Zack couldn't be concerned with these petty emotions anymore, as such, Zack walks away a small distance to let the pokemons be for themselves temporarely, then he quickly calls out
"Archeokat use defensive stance!"

Zack had seen this move done before, he had seen all of the Archeokats moves and he was prepared to call it back, should it do anything else, at least he thought he was.

((Thanks Mytical for giving me an idea for what to say))

“There were about fifty of them behind us when we left the Shrine of Light,” Elren replies. “We tried to barricade the way as we went, but there are more trickier ways through the mountains they could have taken. All we know for sure is that we slowed them down.”

“That was the main force, as best as we can tell,” Sesh adds casually. “We know they had a few smaller encampments scattered through the mountains they might have redirected our way by now.”

"Wait, wait, wait! WHAT?!" Christian exclaimed "But that's PERFECT! Does not that mean that we now outnumber the Brandra?! And we got access to a working center to heal ourselves! Which the Brandra don't if they kept marching after you just after the battle! And they are traveling in such a big group that they would have problems getting down here. The ambush think is your-our best option per now!" Christian smile widened.

((Finally read Ohforfsake's post. Here is my responds: ))

Christian paid attention to the other kid that spoke up talking about taking them out with rock slides and the like.
"BUT THAT'S PERFECT! It is an ambush and an escape plan all in one! Only flaw is that one person has to stay behind and trigger the trap, but hey, that's what I'm here for ain't it?!" Christian thought to himself and opened his mouth to speak right when the other guy stormed out. "Huh?!"
Anyway Christian stood up "And there is ANOTHER good plan! And in my opinion it is a better plan then the one Zelgius gave us. We'll retreat as many as we can, and then a small group, or one person, stays behind and observes the Brandra. And when they are here at the center: BAAAM!" Christian clapped his hands "Brandra mass-grave!" Christian smiled "Just so you know Elren, I volunteer, but I think I'm gonna go check up on the mind behind this plan." and with that, Christian charged out of the center after the mastermind.

When he finally catched up to Zack((Christian don't know his name, but who cares?)), he saw him call out all his pokémon where one of them was of a kind Christian had never seen before. He took out his pokédex and scanned all of them, especially the one he had never seen((Archeokat)). After scanning Christian made his presents know by saying "Hey, are you okay there mate?"

""Hey, are you okay there mate?" "

Zack gets a shock hearing someone out there: "Darn it!" he thinks to himself "I thought I was alone out here!".

Zack quickly recalls the archeokat, afraid of taking his attention off the pokemon ((I'll let it be up to Kareeah if Zack managed to complete his little expirement and if so, what the result was)).

"Wait, what if this guy is Branda!?" Zack thinks to himself, slightly panicking: "Ah no, had he been Branda he'd certainly had knocked me down by now, or at least not revealed his own presence".

Zack looks at his pokemons, seeing they don't seem at all distressed, he turns around, thinking it's safe, as he then spots Christian, with his trademark cap, towering a bit above Zack.

"I was going to be having a word with him eventually, this might not be bad timing at all" Zack thinks to himself.

(Now actually speaking in direction towards Christian) ((Zack thinks that Christian have been told his name already when he saw him talking with Mina and Zelgius earlier))
"Yes, thank you, I'm fine though!" Zack hesitates for a moment and then continues "I have never been good with speaking to a crowd, heck I should probably never have come here in the first place, but now I am here and I want to survive this! Anyway I just needed to do a little experiment in an attempt to prepare for the possible upcomming battle ahead"
Again Zack hesitates for a moment, thinking that Christian left the center to tell him about the result
"So what did they decide?" Then Zack quickly adds, now really opening up: "You know, I'm not even too confident in what I said in there, I mean there are so many unknowns, how many rock pokemons do we have, how much time do it take to set it up and prepare what is needed, heck what is needed and how much time do we even have to prepare?" Zack says in disbelief: "If only we had someone with actual military experience around, we would actually have someone to tell us if we could manage it, someone to effectivize all the pieces and make sure everything went smoothly" Zack says, feeling that all he has done was to waste the time for everyone. Now he realised, yet again, all he had managed was to put himself in emotional distress, but maybe all he lacked was a little fate, at least that was the only thing that really kept him going right now, the fate in that he'd eventually survive this and come home to loved ones.

Zack's plan.

Zelgius watched the kid walk out of the pokemon center. After a second of silence, he told everyone else, "Well, what are you waiting for? The kid's idea is great, I found a few spectacular choke points to drop rocks on their heads while scouting, and it gets you moving tonight, though I really suggest that you don't yet, and I suggest taking our most wounded to the caves and making barricades with tables and chairs, maybe a few beds, from this pokemon center along the main road and the side paths to slow any attack force that might be following us."

He stood up to follow Zack and Chrisian. "By the way, I'm going with you." He looked straight at Mina, "Deal with it. You have to many wounded for me to abandon out of good conscience."With that, he moved out to talk to the boy who had shortened what promised to be a hours long argument to a few minutes.

"I especially like the Bandra mass grave idea..." He muttered to himself.

"If only we had someone with actual military experience around, we would actually have someone to tell us if we could manage it, someone to effectives all the pieces and make sure everything went smoothly"

"Ha! You want one, do you? Well, here he is!" Zelgius called out to Zack. "And I must say, don't let yourself get stuck in this rut or stereotype! Your idea was great, and I dropped all of my little arguments for it." He patted Zack on the back. "As I said on that rock, good head on your shoulders. Now, do you have any idea where you could pull this plan of yours off?"

Christian gave Zack a clap on the shoulder "Take it easy pal. Experimenting is well and good, but 'do not scare the bear into a fox trap' as my father used to say. I means you should not jump the gun and trigger traps before you have considered all options and outfall scenarios." Christian looked at Zack's pokémon and remembered what Zack had asked him. "What they decided?" Christian laughed "No got to go back and ask them that later. I just came to check up on you, looking so bleak when you shouted your mind." Christian smiled "Glad to see I am not the only one who gets heart attack when speaking in crowds. But I at the very least have trained myself to not make it show as much as it did to you, which is both good and bad. It is good because I know people will take me seriously, while its bad when I pass out and no one knows why I passed out." Christian chuckled "Anyway I personally thought your plan was very good. Best one we got so far in my opinion. The starlight squad could escape, leaving only one to a group of people behind to trigger the trap, that's my job I guess, while the Brandra get the roof over their heads. Hah! That would certainly make my day!" Christian took another look at the pokémon before he decided to call out all four he had on hand. Soon enough, Hitmonchan, Scyther, Geodude AND Tyrasin was out on the floor.

"You showed me yours so I might as well show you mine. These are my pals. There are two others but they are at a relatively safe place training to become stronger((referring to Slakoth and Aipom here))." Christian then stretched out his hand "Name is Christian, not sure if you've heard about me from either the squad or the group. And I should apologize about what happened yesterday up in the mountains. When I see pokémon attacking humans my mind kinda just switches over to "ENEMY! HOSTILES! CHARGE!" mode!" Christian grinned "And don't worry about the current state of things, the squad will pull through!" Christian took a look up into the sky before adding "...we always do..." in a bit insecure tone, although he would not notice as Christian believed that he had only thought that and not said it out loud.

Christian: ((the rest of your response is sprinkled in below))

"Wait, wait, wait! WHAT?! But that's PERFECT! Does not that mean that we now outnumber the Brandra?! And we got access to a working center to heal ourselves! Which the Brandra don't if they kept marching after you just after the battle! And they are traveling in such a big group that they would have problems getting down here. The ambush think is your-our best option per now!"

“Not quite,” Elren replies seriously. “It’s a more even fight, but the odds are still in Bandra’s favor. They’re more better supplied than we are, and many of our people and Pokemon are badly wounded ((stat loss, like Mina’s Pikachu)) while Bandra can refresh their forces by helicopter.”

((Numerically, our forces break down thus:

Mina, Misty, Stacey, Zack, Brona, and Draloed
Elren (injured leg)
Lijan
Dien
Sesh
21 Starlight Squad operatives not counting the above, but including wounded. 7 of the 21 can’t walk, including gnome’s patient, a few more can’t climb without help (broken arms and similar).
12 other trainers in the Pokemon Center, including SLS Nurse Joy, Sarah, and Zelgius
Christian

44 total, counting wounded. They still outnumber us, it just isn’t 2-to-1 anymore.))

----------------

Mina:

If they find us?” Mina replied, disgusted. This guy is supposed to be military??? “We’re less than two miles down the road from where they saw us last, and this is the most obvious place for us to go. But we know the majority of their forces are on foot, so they’ll be stuck to the same paths we are. At least if we leave now and run into aerial support on the way that’s all we’ll have to deal with.”

"What if they bring in a legion of shadow pokemon? What if they have bombs? What if those thieving Bandra infiltrators stole a rocket and use it to drag a meteor down on top of us? Well, I don't know if the ifs are enough to outweigh the things that I know. I know that if we leave before morning, you will be personally responsible for killing one of your members, despite my repeated warnings. I Know that half of your people don't have the will or ability to raise their hands, let alone walk through the mountains at night!

((Rofl on the Shadow Pokemon. ))

Mina refrained from rolling her eyes only with effort. Lunatic. You’re so happy to point out everyone’s too tired to walk, what on earth makes you think fighting against a force twice our size is going to be easier?

“I Know that if you force your people to march tonight, that at least three of them will die from exposure because they don't have the proper clothing for the mountains! I know, that all it would take is one slip, and you will have a rock slide on these main mountain paths that will wipe out all of your organization in seconds."

Mina wasn’t the only one nearby to give Zelgius an odd look at that. Where exactly does he think we’re going??? Unless they decided to march back into the mountains, they were done with that particular geographic feature for the time being. Mina told herself that as a professed Johto native, Zelgius likely had no idea where Ternai Town was and thus had no way of knowing where they were going any more than Bandra did…

…but then he knows drat well we just came OUT of the mountains, or at least he should seeing as he was there when we did. Idiot. ((Plains and grassland with the occasional patch of thicker vegetation from here to Ternai Town. No more mountains once we leave here.))

About then Zack seemed to steel himself after looking a little sick, and stood up. "This is our battle field, we can have scouts out, we can have zubats and golbats to find weak spots in the structure of this place and the caves, Bandra are going to follow us, or hold back, if they follow us, we'll set off rock slides that'll crush the place they are, if they hold back, we'll get further and further away!"

"BUT THAT'S PERFECT! It is an ambush and an escape plan all in one! Only flaw is that one person has to stay behind and trigger the trap, but hey, that's what I'm here for ain't it?! Huh?!"

Mina nodded thoughtfully. It wasn’t perfect, but it was still a lot less friendly-casualty-prone than using their wounded and sole shelter for miles as bait. Having helped them get this far, she didn’t want to lose any of the Starlight Squad to injuries, but Zelgius’ plan was likely to kill more people than it saved.

About then Zack left in a rush and Mina experienced a sudden worry that he might be ill. But Starlight Squad Joy had noticed as well, and hastily extricated herself to follow, so she didn’t worry about it and turned her attention back to Christian.

"And there is ANOTHER good plan! And in my opinion it is a better plan then the one Zelgius gave us. We'll retreat as many as we can, and then a small group, or one person, stays behind and observes the Brandra. And when they are here at the center: BAAAM! Brandra mass-grave!"

"Well, what are you waiting for? The kid's idea is great, I found a few spectacular choke points to drop rocks on their heads while scouting, and it gets you moving tonight, though I really suggest that you don't yet, and I suggest taking our most wounded to the caves and making baricades with tables and chairs, maybe a few beds, from this pokemon center along the main road and the side paths to slow any attack force that might be following us."

“I agree we ought to do it farther up the road if we can. Maybe where we ran into each other?” This was addressed to Christian. “If we do it here at the Center, there’s a good risk we aren’t going to get enough stone moving to do anything substantial. But if we do it up there—worst case scenario we only manage to block the road—” and bury ourselves in the process “—which will still slow them down. While if we miss-trigger here, all Bandra has to do is go around.”

"Just so you know Elren, I volunteer, but I think I'm gonna go check up on the mind behind this plan."

Mina watched Elren start to protest as Christian (and then Zelgius) left after Zack as well and shook her head. Christian wasn’t the best option for the plan anyway.

“If we do that, we might be able to contact those towns nearby—” she looked to Lijan for prompting, seeing as he was the one who mentioned it initially.

“Ceris, and the northern town is Rieva.”

“Right. Then we try to contact them and have them send up some help here, then they can use the Center and keep the road blockaided.” Hopefully that would keep Bandra from striking at the towns in question. “And if they won’t help,” Mina shrugged, “no reason we can’t trap the Center too.” Even without knowing what Pokemon the Starlight Squad had at their disposal, Mina could think of some nasty things to discourage Bandra. Take some of those cleaning buckets and fill them with Mona’s Acid, or coat the floor with soapy water then disable the lights…

“Our big problem is going to be getting the people that can’t walk away from here, and quickly. Does anyone have any Pokemon with Psychic or Confusion?”

----------------

Zack:

You send out your new Archeokat. The Rock type gives you a look like, ‘oh, so I’m going to be bothered with this now’ on materializing. You give him your speech, call out your other Pokemon for introductions, and then you call out to Archeokat to use Defensive Stance. The Rock type looks vaguely contemptuous…

((Obediance Roll = 10!))

…but much to your surprise, uses the attack, though you get the distinct feeling he’s humoring you more than anything. Or maybe your speech got through to him?

((Congrats, you now have a temporary circumstance bonus of -5 to your obedience roll! And since phrased that way it sounds a little ambiguous, yes, that’s a good thing.

Knew I was forgetting something.

Seel = occasional swarm off the coast.
Dewgong =  nada (Helnith is hot and dry; Water/Ice types are virtually unfindable. Likewise there are Clamperl here but no wild Shellder.)
Smoochum, Jynx = mountain range at the far southern end of the region (not the Shatterhigh Mountains, these are a different set—off the pieces of the map you have).
Machop = hills south of Moontear
Machoke, Machamp = nada
Pineco = Ternai Town surroundings
Forretress = nada
Smeargle = nada (Patience! )
Taillow, Swellow = Plains south of Ternai (no points for guessing why )
Lombre = Tidepath City surroundings
Ludicolo = nada
Phanpy, Donphan = same mountain range as Jynx and Smoochum
Pichu, Pikachu = Aitel Island
Lickitung, Lickilicky = nada (I know you want one but I cannot for the life of me find a good spot to put them. I’ll arrange something later.)))

Zack hadn't been used to people touch him in a friendly manner and as such been mildly uncomfortable with Christian padding him on the shoulder.

""No got to go back and ask them that later. I just came to check up on you, looking so bleak when you shouted your mind.""

Zack felt somewhat better. Nice to see that this guy seemed to care. Though he wondered, how bad did he actually look in there? Maybe as bad as it felt, but he was never more prone to anything worse than throwing up.

"Glad to see I am not the only one who gets heart attack when speaking in crowds."

"Oh, so we've that in common" Zack though, now it made somewhat more sense that the guy had followed him.
It was a bit of a relief to know that others had the same kind of problems, in that sense, he felt much more comfortable around Christian, he didn't feel nearly as limited when wanting to speak his mind.

Zack had been so absorbed in his own thoughts that he hence hadn't payed too much attention to what Christian said, though then he heard:
"that's my job I guess, while the Brandra get the roof over their heads. Hah!"
Zack didn't like the sound of that: "You aren't comming with us then?" Zack asked: "Are you sure you can do this?" He looked at geodude, scyther, hitmonchan and a pokemon he hadn't seen before, looking much like a tyrogue with a cape: "If anything goes wrong, can you escape? No offense to your pokemons, I've witnessed their strength first hand, but I doubt anyone of them have teleport, or dig? Do you have any backup plans? You seemed rather important to the lieutenants, are you sure you aren't risking a lot of work for something, someone else might be a better choice for?"
Zack really had no idea who else would be a better choice, he even thought that it probably was out of his place to tell Christian this.
Christian seemed determined none the less and since his experiment had finished, Zack thought that it was probably due time to get back inside.

Zack used his pokedex to scan the Tyrasin, while Christian introduced his team, as Christian reached out his hand:
"Name is Christian, not sure if you've heard about me from either the squad or the group. And I should apologize..."
There was no need to apologise, Zack met his hand with his own, now realising that Christian might now know his name after all:
"It's Zachary, but please, call me Zack. Beside there is no need to apologise, heck if this wasn't such a grave situation, I'd have been rather amused" Zack grins widely.

The grin turns to a twisted face as Zack is shocked by the new voice:
"Ha! You want one, do you? Well, here he is!"
"DARN IT!" Zack thought to himself: "Why do I NEVER notice these guys sneaking up on me like that!", the new guy, Zack hadn't recognized him immediatedly, likewise started touching Zack, patting him on his shoulder. Zack now realised he was still holding Christians hand in what had seemed like an eternity and got suddenly very uncomfortable with the situation. He turned face red and quickly pulled some distance to breath.
"Now, do you have any idea where you could pull this plan of yours off?"
Zack looked and now realised it was the old guy. Ah so he was from the military, that would actually explain a lot. Zack usually loathed military people, but right now, he was probably going to be a blessing, at least Zack thought so.
On the other hand, if he wasn't from the military, following him could lead to dangerous results.
Zack realised that he was with two people he hadn't met before, long away from the group he had got to know and everyone from the center.
"Let's get back to the center and continue the talk there, no need for it to be a private conversation. I'm done here anyway, and I feel much better now, thanks!" Zack says, thinking he could the very least introduce himself to the guy, one of the people he had hoped would know good spots, not asking him, Zack after all, had never been in the area before.
"I'm Zack, from Johto." He says, reaching his hand out to the trainer (Zelgius), but retracting quickly, he wasn't sure what it was, but excused himself as: "Let's skip the formal introduction, please tell me your name and let's head back inside".
"Another Johto trainer? Good. Zelgius, from Johto as well."
"From Johto..." Zack thought to himself, while starting to move back in as the other guy seemed to be attacked by his own pokemons in a way that amused Zack a bit more than he liked.
"But with all that he seemed to know about mountains... well he could not be from Blackthorn City, after all, he had no dragons. So was he from Mt. Siler? Then he should be one heck of a hardened trainer. Or maybe he was from Mahogany Town. Then he would have lived quite close to the mountains at least, but on the same time, then he might had seen a couble of swinubs in his time. Ahhh swinub" Zack started nostalgic dreaming a little again.

Back inside Zack met the nurse who'd run after him first, she'd appearently looked from a distance to see if he was alright, assuring her that he was fine, he went back to the meeting, slightly upset with himself for having caused this interuption, he was going to apologise to Elren and his friends as soon as he found a good opportunity for doing so.

As Zack walks into the room he hears Mina say:
"Does anyone have any Pokemon with Psychic or Confusion?"
"Hmm, Mr. Mime and Psyduck had confusion and dubba could probably increase the count to at least three, but didn't Mina already knew this?" Zack thought to himself. He had actually never attempted to see how well confusion worked as anything, but an attack. Eventhough he had heard how it should be able to move heavy boulders.
Feeling more confident, Zack quickly says:
"Well you know you can count on Mr. Mime and Psyduck..., and with Dubba we'd have at least three"
Then he takes his old seat back, again it felt like he just wanted to zoom out, distance himself and blend in with the shadows, but he knew he couldn't do that anymore, and as such he focused very attentively, hoping that he'd get a heads up on what he'd missed.

"Let's skip the formal introduction, please tell me your name and let's head back inside".

"Another Johto trainer? Good. Zelgius, from Johto as well. I think that I found a few spots farther back that could work rather easily for your idea-" Zelgius was cut off as his Snorunt hit him with an icy-wind. Shaking off the thin layer of snow that had plastered itself on to his skin, Zelgius fully woke up. "Now, Jessia (Snorunt's nickname), what was that for?"

She looked at him, and then just hopped into his arms. "Alright, alright, I'll take you inside with me." Zelgius's Aaron (Marick) also ran to stand next to him. "Ok, you too. Although, I'm warning you, you won't really like it in..." Fully awake for the first time in days, Zelgius took in the surroundings of the pokemon center. He noticed that the mountains ended rather abruptly here... Wake up, idiot.

He followed Zack inside the center, wondering why the hell he hadn't seen this before... And then he instantly moved to find the map again. "Let's see here, let's see... Ternai... Well son of a, I need to buy maps!" He yelled to no one in particular. "I really need to get more sleep..." Snorunt hit him with another powdered snow. "...Yes, thank you Jessia. You can stop that now, please."

He moved back to the meeting. "So, on further review of the map, I realize that I was a tourist in the middle of a meeting of tour guides. I have no idea what this continent of your looks like. Also, I found a nice little clearing that is about four meters lower then the rest of this valley/ grassland area, about a half mile away from here. If we were going to move out tonight, this would be the ideal place for a hidden camp."

"And were we planning on rigging the Pokemon center to do something nasty to Bandra? Because if so, I have a book in my bag that gives detailed plans on how to construct small explosive charges and where to put them on a structure to knock it down, as well as a few other choice traps. If someone wants to get it from my bag, it's called 'Know what you're doing 101' and it's in the front pouch."

"You aren't comming with us then?"

"No, not my work." Christian shaked his head "I am a Starlight special agent. Sabotage and intel gathering is my job, sometimes infiltration, I am not suppose to directly meet the main squad. That's why meeting all of them here was a big surpise."

"Are you sure you can do this? If anything goes wrong, can you escape? No offense to your pokemons, I've witnessed their strength first hand, but I doubt anyone of them have teleport, or dig? Do you have any backup plans? You seemed rather important to the lieutenants, are you sure you aren't risking a lot of work for something, someone else might be a better choice for?"

"Christian cracked his knuckles "Sure I can! I've been in worse situasions before and I am sure Scyther could keep me off the ground when the whole place go boom! Ain't that right?!" Christian turned to Scyther who raised his right scythe in doubt as he answered "Scy? Scyther?"

"It's Zachary, but please, call me Zack. Beside there is no need to apologise, heck if this wasn't such a grave situation, I'd have been rather amused" Zack grins widely.

"Pleasure to mee-" Christian was interrupted by a voice coming up from behind him. "Ohh is it the lunatic?" Christian thought and stepped back to allow the two to talk. Then Zelgius was attacked by his own pokémon in a manner very familiar to Christian and he heard that both Zack and Zelgius were from Johto.
"Johto, huh?" Christian thought before saying "Cool, my dad was from Johto and my grandparents lived there, but personally I grew up on Dewford Island in Hoenn. 'Better to live on a small island community first, so that if we ever get in trouble we can just move to a big city where no one has ever heard of us' my mother used to say. Ahh, but listen to me rant without thinking. You are right we better get back to the meeting and see if the people finally made a decision."
Christian called back his four pokémon and headed back to the center.

"Does anyone have any Pokemon with Psychic or Confusion?”

"Sorry." Christian nodded "Only fighting, ice and ground experience here! Ohh and bug and normal now that I think about it." Christian looks at his scyther and thinks about the two normals he had back at the Brandra base.
