"Well.... that's all very confusing and not very helpful! You did help me in one of my currently many, times of need, so I imagine it'd only be proper for me to aid you in any way possible if I may? It sounds as though this 'Bandra' group is problematic."

Mina wondered if she should say the 'warzone' part again. Then she wondered if Matt was just trying to humor the teenagers. He's in for a nasty surprise if that's the case... Then she wondered if it was a good idea to drag him into all this regardless of his motives if he really was as confused as he claimed.

I haven't even gotten to the bit about the rifts to another dimension opening on a semi-regular basis...

Mina wordlessly decided to save that part for later.

Instead she shot Mark a look and then shrugged. It was a good idea, and Jack was probably long gone by this point so they might as well use it...

"If you're sure..." Mina paused a little to give Mark and/or Matt a chance to chime in before she continued, "we've got something of a...test run...planned later tonight. It's not against Bandra" that we know of "but it should give you some idea of the sorts of things you'd be doing, going up against them. So if you decide afterwards you want nothing to do with all this, you'll be able to walk away without getting any more attention from Bandra than anyone else in the region."

Shooting Mina a glance back when she seemed to be so willing to trust this individual where Jack had been viewed with such suspicion, Mark almost objected... but given how much this older man had been through, and given how little Mark knew about the difficulties they would be facing, the boy decided to hold back his thoughts and instead say, "Yeah... a-any help would be appreciated!" Well now, a grand old party of four against one little old smuggler... shouldn't be too hard compared to a Bandra executive or two, right?

Oh, you have no idea...

"This should be fun! So children, where are we off to first?"

Mina's expression was mask-like as some of her private fears were confirmed. Yep, humoring the teenagers. That was okay for now; it just meant he'd probably write the whole, 'war against Team Bandra' thing off after this little side mission.

"No where for now; meet us back here about...Mark, do you think 9-9:30 would work?" That should give the two of them time to confer, and Matt time to prepare.

Scratching his head

"Well, since I've yet to familiarize myself with where we are, to avoid getting lost I shall simply wait for you guys here."

Sits down next to a tree and ponders what's in store. Since everyone seems somewhat friendly in this region, it's curious to believe why on earth a criminal organization would want in such a remote part of the country. At least to myself it seems remote, if the land is truly dying as they say, what, of value, could they possibly be taking interest in?

"Well yes, that should work... we weren't planning to meet up until, you know... ten anyway..." Mark would mumble, rubbing behind hiis head and sighing. Well... at least the adult wasn't telling him that this entire war thing wasn't fit for children to be running around in.

Once their new companion had left, Mark would mumble to Mina, "Well... we've met a few interesting people today."

Matt:

You make your way outside; the dinner crowd is now starting to filter out of the bar, but it's not yet so late that no one is trickling in to replace them.

((It's 6PM now. You're sure you just want to wait around?))

----------------

Mark and Mina:

Mina nodded. "I'm a little worried about that last one; getting lost enough to not know what region you're in takes...special talent." It reminded her of Zelgius, actually. Though if he was crazy, Matt seemed like a nicer shade of crazy.

"But I don't think we can count on Jack being back in time to help us out with the fence...unless you told him about the meeting before you came back with him?" The other trainer would have no idea when to show up without being told, and Mina didn't recall it coming up before Jack had taken off to look for Pokemon. And the battle with the Murkrow had been long enough, Mina doubted he was still in grabbing distance.

((Also 6PM for us, if I need to specify.))

After a really, and I mean REALLY long nap leaning against the tree I wake up and see the bustle and hustle going into the bar. I casually pull, and call out, Mareep and Rattata and try to piece together the missing pieces.

"Do either of you guys remember where we were heading on that ship? We were heading on a vacation right?" Scratches head "I tell ya guys, I really wish I could remember! But we are here now... in Helnith, where ever that is!" Laughs "I mean, I don't believe I ever even heard of the place when I was their age. I must have been a few years younger or so when I met you Ratman, you became my first pokemon and together we obtained one of the many Mareep that would come grazing down by the river near my house."

As sudden memories come flooding back of a small house in the countryside with rolling meadows and happy pokemon abound. A young man in his teens heading off on the big adventure that every teenager seems to head off on. I reckon I had it easy, I battled when I had to and merely struggled to see as much as I could, as fast as I could, with only thoughts of home to urge me on wards. Gym battles never interested me like so many other trainers, wanting to become stronger. Reflecting back they likely had the right idea, if perhaps for the wrong purpose. I should have tried harder to become strong for the sake of my pokemon, to keep them safe and never in danger as I had done so carelessly with Mareep against the Murkrow. With face grim with determination I came to a conclusion and said to my pokemon.

"Well kids, I believe this land shall be our home now. And if these.... Bandra characters are killing the land and taking from the hard working people like a buncha thugs, I believe we should teach them a lesson in respect, and make a few more friends along the way. I've at least a pair of balls yet, and room in the party, so, what do you guys think?"

Your Pokemon chatter back conversationally in Poke-speak in response to your questions. Both cheer and seem enthusiastic at this new-found determination in their friend and trainer. Presumably that's a yes?

"... Ah... Well yeah, I mean I guess I hadn't thought of that..." Mark would mumble, rubbing at the back of his head before taking out his phone again and looking it over. "So... uh... shoul I call this guy now or should we go somewhere private like your room first...?" He would ask, wincing a little bit at how awkwardly that had come out. Definitely PG intentions here!

Mark and Mina:

"Don't worry about it; if Matt panics or turns on us, between you and me we can minimize the damage." Hopefully. ((Right little ray of optimism Mina is. )) "We'd have a harder time doing that with both of them at once. And I think Jack's the smaller risk, since his background check came back pretty clean." Though Mina supposed there was a first time for everything...still she acknowledged that she had to drawn the line of distrust somewhere; it wasn't like she and Mark could single-handedly save the region.

"So... uh... shoul I call this guy now or should we go somewhere private like your room first...?"

Mina politely ignored the accidental pick-up line. "Yes, let's go find someplace private to make the call..."

She went with Mark to find a quiet room where no trainers rushing to or from dinner would stumble in on them and waited for Mark to make the call. She got out her paper and pen, just in case she needed to take notes.

"My it's getting late... I hope nothing troublesome happened to those teenagers. I suppose we'd better go look for them?" I say to Ratman and Mareep.

As night falls the air grows cool. A shiver runs down my spine as I look around the gradually dwindling town. The hustling people from earlier seem to have retired to their homes while the bar and battles still can be heard from across the square. I casually walk around the town, going behind buildings, being generally nosey and curious. A dark hulking shape takes form as I come around the Pokecenter heading south and I remember that there was a crashed helicopter there. I gradually move closer to investigate to see if there are any tell tale signs as to whom, or what, might have took the helicopter down, or who might claim ownership of the destroyed aircraft.

Matt:

The wreck seems to have been brought down by Pokemon attacks as there is a total absence of bullet holes but far too much damage to have merely been a severe mechanical failure. The rotors are charred and melted from the direct attack of at least one Fire type, and while the blasted streak along one side has you stumped at first a scan from the Pokedex suggests Hyper Beam as the most likely cause. The paint of the vehicle has been sliced and marred—some kind of sharp-edged attack, although those don't look like claw marks—but not enough to obscure the big, spiky purple 'B' on one side...

Looking around, you also note drag marks on the ground which suggest that someone—most likely several someones with strong Pokemon—moved it here. It looks like the big scorch mark in the center of town was the initial resting place.

Mark and Mina:

((Moving on then...))

When Mark starts the call  a staticy voice answers on the other end. Only the fact that Mark has heard it before in person lets him recognize it as the creep in the cloak.

"Hello? What do you want?" The voice sounds annoyed, and Mark can hear voices in the background—somewhere busy, it seems.

----------------

EDIT:

Matt:

As you are examining the wreckage, a voice pipes up behind you. "Hey, are you a Pokemon trainer?" Upon turning around, you see a girl of about twelve, in a frilly skirt that looks like it was mean to be worn while on a stage rather than walking around town. The outfit is distinctive enough you remember seeing it before, and after a moment recall that she was one of the gaggle of Coordinators you'd seen earlier. "Wanna battle?"

"Wanna battle?"

Startled I jump and yell out in fear.

"OH god I didn't do anything to the wreck I swear! I was just... Oh, well hello there, yes, yes I do train pokemon somewhat... I suppose I could battle with you."

I wipe the sweat off my brow and choke the heart down out of my throat where it leapt too after the girl surprised me. What's wrong with me being startled so easily by a little girl?!

Smiling "It's been many years since I've battled people, go easy on this old timer. Feel free to explain rules as we go, I'll start out with my life long pal Ratman!"

"A Skitty huh? Hmm...." A quick check of the Pokedex reveals it to be a normal type, so Ratman shouldn't have too much difficulty with this guy, just because it's a cat and he's a mouse shouldn't have anything to do with the outcome of the battle! "Alright Ratman, use Quick Attack!"

A Contest-centered diet has made the Skitty unusually healthy and fast ((side note: Contest stats raise your actual battling stats by a small amount in this game)) but still not as fast as Ratman.

Ratman uses Quick Attack!
Jillian is hit for 26 damage!

Jillian uses Fake Out!
Ratman is hit for 15 damage!

The Coordinator seems slightly put out that her opening strategy didn't work.
