Alright, that was a good stalling tactic.. but now Mark needed to start the process of wearing this tanky Rock/ Steel type down. Unfortunately he didn't have any moves on the ice ghost that would be particularly devastating here, so for now, he'd command, "Alright, we're doing okay, that sandstorm is just about to come down. Use Ominous Wind again!" It was her strongest move, and might just increase her attack stats and defenses. Not that those mattered much to Toxic damage, but still.

Matt:

You notice a couple of Pokéball variants are unavailable or low in stock. When asked, the Department Store staff tell you they’ve been experiencing shortages but to check back later as sometimes supplies get past the Bandra patrols.

Even with the war shortages, the Pokéball selection is fairly impressive:

Pokéball – 200 PD – Standard ball, normal catch rate
Great Ball – 600 PD – Improved catch rate over the standard Pokéball
Ultra Ball – 1200 PD – LIMITED STOCK! Limit 2 per customer – Improved catch rate over the Great Ball
Net Ball – 1000 PD – LIMITED STOCK! Limit 1 per customer – Works better on Water or Bug Pokémon
Nest Ball – 1000 PD – Works better on lower-level Pokémon
Timer Ball – 1000 PD – Works better the longer the battle has been going on
Luxury Ball – 1000 PD – Normal catch rate, doubles the rate at which Friendship increases
Dive Ball – 1000 PD – Works better while underwater
Dusk Ball – 1000 PD – Works better at night or in dark conditions
Heal Ball – 300 PD – LIMITED STOCK! Limit 3 per customer – Normal catch rate, fully restores HP, PP, and status of the captured Pokémon ((DM note: Not stat damage or Shadowing))
Quick Ball – 1000 PD – Works best if used the first turn of battle
Glitter Ball – 600 PD – Normal catch rate, increases Contest stats
Glamour Ball – 1200 PD – Great Ball catch rate, increases Contest stats
Gleam Ball – 600 PD – Normal catch rate, increases the chance any Pokémon offspring will be Shiny
Venom Ball – 1000 PD – Works better on Poison types or Pokémon that have been Poisoned
Scorch Ball – 1000 PD – LIMITED STOCK! Limit 1 per customer – Works better on Fire types or Pokémon that have been Burned
Jolt Ball – 1000 PD – Works better on Electric types or Pokémon that have been Paralyzed
Spectral Ball – 2000 PD – LIMITED STOCK! Limit 2 per customer – Works better on Spectral types, or Pokémon that have been Shadowed, and Pokémon with a major status effect ((EX: Burn, Paralyze, Sleep…))
Storm Ball – 1000 PD – Works better when weather conditions are in effect
Creep Ball – 1000 PD – Works better on slow Pokémon (Base Speed 40 or lower)) and Pokémon that are trapped
Facet Ball – 1000 PD – Works better on Pokémon that evolve with any kind of Evolutionary Stone ((DM note: barring the Bandra-made Link stone))
Vacuum Ball – 1000 PD – Works better on Pokémon that are light weight

This time the Toxic lands, albeit barely – but barely is enough.

Aron uses Toxic!
Jessia is badly poisoned!

Jessia uses Ominous Wind!
It’s not very effective…
Aron is hit for 9 damage!

Jessia takes 5 damage from poison!

Jessia is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Jessia loses 5 HP!
The sandstorm subsides.

((Trick Room in effect.))

Tattersail: 47/96 (recalled)
Jessia: 73/93 (Badly poisoned 1 round)

"Wow, he's got big balls, she's got big balls, this is quite the ballroom to be sure. But if I go off their price list," I say pulling my Spectral ball from my pack, "It would seem I've got the biggest...ball of them all! Beg pardon employee patron! Would I be able to trade this for a plethora of equal worth in Great Balls? I may also be interested in selling this Dive and Venom ball perhaps."

The helpful employee informs you that while they can buy items back from you, they can only do so for half the sale price. ((So 2000 PD for selling all three, which would only net you three Great Balls plus change. You’re sure?))

((-1 Spectral Ball, -1 Venom Ball, -1 Dive Ball, +3 Great Balls and +200 PD, for 6 Great Balls and 6100 PD total.))

The next floor is dominated by exercise equipment (human and Pokémon), vitamin supplements (human and Pokémon), and a wide selection of Potions and other medicines (Pokémon only).

While browsing, you overhear another patron complaining about the price of something – you can’t tell exactly what but the nearby sign reads ‘Power Items’ – and being informed, in a stern yet polite tone, that they’re free to go climb Trainer Hill as many times as they want and earn it there instead if they prefer.

Well... it was bound to happen eventually. At least it had taken three uses for Toxic to stick, so Mark still had time to whittle down the Aron before he needed to send Tattersail back out. So for now, he would keep the pattern up... "Jessia, keep it up with another ominous wind!" It wasn't hitting hard, but it was still his best option at that moment. With how this battle was going, Mark was almost certainly going to take off the next round to heal... if he wasn't just out-right eliminated this round, of course.

Multiple bedding displays greet you as you arrive on the next floor up. Searching around, there isn’t much Pokémon related stuff on this floor, it being mostly dominated by things like couches, kitchen appliances, even a small TV section. There is a section of Pokédolls, and you see a few smaller Berry Blender models in the kitchen section, and things like Pokémon beds but it’s mostly human-centric.

... Oh.

Oh that was evil. With the Aron's low speed and the toxic going on, and Mark's utter lack of priority moves on his still standing pokemon, he was in a bit of a predicament. Tapping his chin, considering his options here, he tells his ghost type, "Jessia, use Protect." He had a strategy that might work here, but it would take a bit of luck...

Good. The plan was working perfectly. Underground as it was, that shiny aron wouldn’t be able to pull out of the attack cycle it was locked in. Mark could have his gardivoir block this next attack with ease and reset the battlefield to parity... but that was a losing strategy. Sure, he could block this attack, but then the steel type would just use toxic and he’d be in the exact same situation. So Mark made a different move.

Telepathically commanding his psychic type, Mark said, <Tattersail, use Magical Leaf.> Being the proud owner of a steel type himself, Mark knew the little pokemon wasn’t particularly powerful offensively. It was almost all physical defense, in fact, so his psychic type should be able to take the hit, especially since dig was a ground type move, so there would be no STAB on this attack. Tattersail might not have STAB either, but she was targeting the aron’s weakest defense, there was no sand storm to screen for it, and she was using her incredible special attack to do so. Hopefully that chip damage from Jessia had been enough to end this in one shot, especially since it would have ruined the Aron’s potential sturdy.

The next floor up is full of gleaming glass cases: rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, collars, watches, at least one case full of piercings (?!?), and more exotic things. Individual loose gem stones glitter, each in a tiny, padded plastic box of its own. There’s a whole row of cases of evolutionary stones, polished and set on velvet cushions and some even glowing with their own internal light. One entire case is taken up by what looks like a set of braces for Pokémon, but with jewels set in them. Another contains a set of non-jeweled rings, bracelets and similar items that it proclaims are holders for Key Stones and/or Mega Stones (the latter are bigger). Yet another has a stone labeled only ‘Unova Fossil’.

And another row off to one side stands out with its relative plainness of display (lacking velvet cushions or anything similar) but contains all sorts of things that come out of the ground – just skimming you notice a Damp Rock, a Sacred Talisman like the one you acquired some time ago, Oval Stones in various colors and a Rare Bone. A large sign proclaims these to be product of the Geology Club (“help support our new headquarters!”).

A couple spinning kiosks up front also have Contest Accessories for sale, in basically every color imaginable.
