New here, but very old to HOMM...
Greetings all! I picked up HOMM V Tribes of the East the other day and it's pretty fun - I started playing Heroes with the very first version back in 1995; played the heck out of 2 and 3. Heroes 4 wasn't that fun for me, and then I had computer problems with #5 (It hated my Nvidia 7900GTX 512 MB card). So last weekend I bought a 8600GT and the game is rock solid.
It's been a long time since I had the "just one more turn" feeling when playing Heroes. I've logged about 40 hours so far, and even though you hear most "old schoolers" like me state how great Homm3 or 3.5 (WOG) is, I gotta be honest and say Homm V is right up there as far as fun gameplay.
Things I'm impressed with:
The little "hammer" for upgrading your castles. It is different based on whether or not you can upgrade with your current resources, have "built" this turn (goes red) and if there's no possible upgrades left (turns green). That's pretty smart and makes castle management easier.
I like the "Buy all Troops option", and the little icon that allows you to see all available magic spells.
Anyway, I'm very impressed and I'm a huge fan of HOMM3.

I am sooooo jealous... I haven't bought ToTE yet cuz I cant (for numerous reasons) and it seems like the alt. upgrades and the Stronghold town are the coolest things in the world. Raaargh!!!

I'm playing the 2nd campaign in Tribes of the East. I'm having some problems beating the guy at the end. Anyway, I've checked my backpack and I have (among other artifacts) all the pieces to "Death's Embrace" which includes:
Staff of the Netherworld
Cloak of Death's Shadow
Ring of the Unrepentant
Amulet of Necromancy
All are on the character and not in the backpack, yet it still says "Unequipped"? How do I equip this? In other HOMM games in said something like "You have all the pieces to X combo artifact, would you like to assemble it?". It's not doing that here.
Can anyone help?
