Trying to summon Ad by proposing a discussion on who the best girl is in Elfen Lied. Personally kinda liked Yuka until "would ya touch ma boobs too" bit, kinda ruins the whole 'I'm intelligent but kinda silly for falling in love with a muppet' cause it just makes her seem stupid for asking such forward questions in such a dull manner.

That part was better illustrated in the manga. She was baiting him and he saw through it.

Well-deserved.

It's essentially two different animes in one (sub and dub have totally different character/feel to them)

Really? What I've read on the dub is that it's equally amazing as the sub. Maybe I should find out for myself.

But anyway, that's mostly irrelevant compared to the quality of the plot and the tremendous amount of references to quantum physics, information theory and other mesmerizing such subjects. It was literally science porn for me. Mixed with a bit of imagination, true enough.

And the character development, even the comic relief. It was simply brilliant.

I find time traveling to be one of those themes that everyone manages to completely ****up due to losing coherency/plot-holes or contradicting previously established paradigms which annoy me more than anything else.

Dubbed Okabe is literally all I watched it for tbh, (I heard the Subbed is just as good, but J. Michael Tatum just makes the character his own not watched the movie just cause I want Dub Okabe). All that sciency crap was just bs oil driving the cogs of feels, so I didn't much care about the overarching plot or anything since the seams were already tearing around mid point, but it has some very sweet character interaction that is somewhat enhanced by the whole time travel plot despite the fact the glaring faults with the actual time traveling itself.

Definately an anime that left me with feels, but more to do with the extremely well done character performance as well as decently done character interaction. Again Tatum just nailed the character so well, I literally felt the obnoxiousness ooooz out of my screen, and how he develops as a character over the anime is highly noticable and brilliantly performed.

After watching it I was kinda daydreaming about Mikasa and Erwin hooking up (kinda awkward tho).

Seriously M. Tatum is a god <3.

I haven't found any plot holes, actually. And I paid VERY close attention. I was even more sure of it when I saw this timeline graph: Massive spoiler. And it's not a simple story either, it's really branched, overwhelmingly so.

Anyway, I'm not convinced that time travel is possible any more than I was before. Time is an abstract concept, past and future do not exist. It's all a continuous present. So yes, as far as that premise goes, I'm not sold.

In spite of that, it was still amazing. I'll probably watch it again, this time dubbed.

P.S: Are we a dying breed around here?

Off the top of my head - (spoilerish kinda)

maintaining your memory over timelines which instantly undermines the whole concept of multiple parallel worlds moving in a flow. Unless you're telling me that each individual has their identity from every world line locked in them and a small event can trigger them to remember? Does this update as their identities in other world lines develop?! That would cause some serious mental trauma if you have so many conflicting memories, if not then why recall your memories from just 1? Okabe had to download his memory and transport it via the time machine (>.> ) while everyone else got a free ticket down memory lane.

Exactly this, you can't travel to something that doesn't exist, we have past and present in order to catagorize events and dates, and the future to speculate, but neither are real (to the truest sense of the word).

Steins;Gate was amazing, but I couldn't sit through the dub, and I'm usually more or less fine with dubs. It just sounds wrong.

Just finished Clannad and Gate.

Gate was amazing, something about modern armour and cobra gun ships mowing down knights, goblins and dragons gets me going, and I love the characters, (<3 MC) what can I say go and watch it. (new season is out soon too)

Clannad, erm idk, to me it felt like enjoyable high school flick without fan service (which is always good) with a slice of mystery that's nice. It's the second anime to date to make me weep, but idk. It's good, I enjoyed it, but I doubt I'll ever rewatch it again sadly. It's like asking you whether you want a dose of cheap depression.

Been there with Ef Tales, don't need anything like that anytime soon. You got me curious tho, what was the first anime to make you weep? Perhaps Fate/Stay Night?

Yeah, Fate/stay night, something about the Arturian legend just makes me so sad, that combined with the story (a few annoying elements but still great imho can't wait to see the new one) did it for me.

Clannad is on a whole different level, it goes on, and on, doesn't ever stop, there's no little cliffhanger or one big sad goodbye or anything like that, it goes on, and on dragging your heart behind it in the dirt. Extra kudos cause it pulls it off despite my fav girl not being the best girl.

Currently watching Nisekoi, and I love how all highschool animes have some common themes, violent females/going to the N/Y festival/MC doing something perverted unintentionally and then getting wacked for it etc. Still each take on a life of their own and it's interesting to see where it all leads to/how it progresses.

Edit: Crap, forgot I've been binging totally didn't realize how much anime I've been watching

Also Angel Beats: Ending didn't hit me as hard as I thought it should've, story was well presented.
Also recently finished (since my last update a couple weeks ago)" Zero no Tsukaima (it's essentially a fantasy Toradora with a less appealing MC but still alright). Also finished Date a Live and The World Only God Knows, liked 'em both the latter was particularly entertaining, had the Steins Gate vibe where the MC is an obnoxious ****, but masterfully balanced so that it doesn't put you off and feeds into character development, you'd like it Stevie. As for Date a Live, it's nothing deep, but still an enjoyable watch, has its moments as well.

Watched both seasons of Date a Live some time ago, actually. I'll be sure to take a look at TWGOK soon after I finish both Spice and Wolf seasons, which is a very captivating anime by the way. I know you were particularly fond of it, furry and all that. What I really appreciate is the setting and the social interaction, to me it fells like medieval surrealism. Definitely a needed breath of fresh air between all this hentai-ecchi otaku madness nowadays.

I love characters both male and female that alternate between being cute and/or innocent and then when the situation calls for it revert to a state pf absolute seriousness and badassery. Noragami, Spice and Wolf and ofc Rurouni Kenshin to just name a few. I'm still reading the Spice and Wolf light novels and yeah it always strikes me as how much more detail there is in books, like Lawrence's fondness for prostitutes which makes sense seeing as how he's a lone traveler.

One Punch Man is an absolutely fantastic anime. Can't remember the last time when I had so much fun watching things explode like that. Just the kind of release I needed. Also watching TWGOK in tandem which is interesting in its own right. Damn, wish these fun times never ended.

Watched stein's gate dub because of you Tsar, good recommendation I really loved Okabe's voice actor. Kurisu and Daru I also prefered over the original. Good story, even better character develoment. In many ways reminiscent of butterfly effect and I really liked that movie.

Also finished gate, man that was so much fun ^^ No wonder Joonas had been bugging me all this time. Gotta love how Itami is revealed to be more awesome by the episode He had me fooled until his first encounter when all hell broke loose, that was not your typical otaku reaction. He is awesome, he just cannot be bothered if the situation does not call for it. PS lovely intro.
