Just finished Nobunaga concerto (10eps), and holy tits, everyone warned about the art style, but I was legit going with it from the get go, after a while it actually becomes a solid boon rather than something you simply have to 'deal with'. It was actually pretty damn amazing, nothing extraordinary happens, at the same time it's not laid back, the characters are simply amazing (their so well balanced I was not expecting such quality going in).

9/10

would be a 10 but the story is far from over, will give it a 10 on the sequel .

Boku no Kanojo ga Majimesugiru Shojo snow na Ken, another anime of the season that I've been following (now at 7 episodes), it's one of those animes that try to be funny with adult jokes with the simple twist that they are actually funny.

EDIT: Caught up with the latest 3 chapters of Shingeki no Kyojin manga. It's about to go down and I just can't wait for it.

EDIT: Was looking for something on MAL and I saw that Made in Abyss had some pretty good ratings, so gave it try. And boy I'm glad I did, because it was simply fantastic. One of the best animes I've seen to date. And I am thrilled that it gets a second season as announced 2 days ago. Finally something great to look forward to. What an intense ride that was, damn.

EDIT: Boku no Hero Academia was your typical superpower shounen anime I guess. I kinda enjoyed it after watching the episodes back to back, definitely better than having to wait for a new episode every week back when it was airing. I guess I'm mildly hyped for the 3rd season. Though I can't imagine myself picking the manga back up again to find out what they have in store, I'll let them surprise me this time.

So, tried to watch the dattebayo orange jumpsuit blonde dork shippbuden. up to I think episode 154 or so.

F it. Shonen tropes quintupled, and then quintupled again, really ruins it.

Also Sasuke vs Itachi fight. Was dissapointed. Throughout the bleeping series, they were building such hype about it, and when the time came, instead of a big and epic KABOOM! , we've got a dud.

meh.

That was nice. It was a surprisingly heartfelt series considering its premise and the mc silliness. I found the art beautiful but the 3D didn't mesh well at times. But.. where is the ending?! I mean we know where the events are heading but I really wanted to see more

I took the opportunity to do some reading on Nobunaga's life and they did a damn fine job. From his early erratic life to Hirate's 'seppuku', Tokichiro being Nobunaga's sandal bearer(lol), everything fits. But the best part was foreshadowing the identity of the person responsible for his death. Well played.

Mahou Tsukai no Yome is.. interesting. Found it a bit slow at first but liking it more and more, especially the 3 part ova. A good watch.

Made in abyss was really enjoyable. I love the enthusiastic feel of adventure but it's all fun and games till bad things start happening. So delightful and yet so horrifying. Love it.

Looking forward to Junji Ito's horror stories adaptation!

Also 2nd season of overlord has started

Just finished:

Net-juu no Susume - was fun, lovely animation and decent acting, not much in terms of story, it's warm.

Mahoutsukai no Yome - Not entirely sure how to feel about it, this anime felt like the sweetest kush, it's warm and green.

Shiki - I actually liked it, it noticably builds and builds on itself, pretty consistent and straight-forward development with a satisfying climax. I actually love the deeper philosophical undertones (well not really undertones). Unfortunately they don't delve into it too much, they raise some interesting questions, but the story plays out consistently (while some characters question the deeper meanings none actually dig in, which is a shame).

(Not spoilerish, it's simple, but you guys may lack context)
For instance 'do you have a right to exist if you your survival demands you take human life'? The focus...most critical part of a question (to ge the answer you need, not the one you may want). First and foremost there are no "rights", there is no 'right' to exist, if you sustain yourself on human life you must make peace with the results (I dont mean take it lying down, I mean do not be perplexed/surprised that people will hate you).

Idk I loved it, the music sets the atmosphere, it's subtle but decisive, couple of the characters are annoying, but the anime knows how to direct focus.

Spoilerish:

Worst part of the entire anime is a massive...massive flaw, there's a claim that human lives 'must' be taken and coexistence is impossible, now this isn't a flaw, but the delivery presents it as such. It's an intended contradiction in ordinary human thought. Okay so it's not a story flaw, let me explain. So apparently they can't coexist with the villagers since vampires have to kill to survive, but they don't...so what's going on? It's about objectives, vampires have to kill to increase their numbers, but they don't need to kill to survive. It would've been so nice if someone slapped that lil skank and forced her to see that her real objective isn't coexistence, it's her own kind's domination at the expense of humanity, if she wanted coexistence it could've been possible and feasible, and after watching as she realizes her error - hammer a stake in her little heart.

All in all loved it. 8/10 (tempted to give it a 9, since it well and truly deserves it, but my expectations coming into it were low lol).

Funny that you mention it, Shiki has been on my todo list for a while. I'll probably watch soon enough.

Also I'll just leave this here ^^

A little disappointed that Junji Ito collection started with Souichi, his stories are more about dark humour than actual horror.

There is also a fate grand order 30 min special. Don't bother, it has like 1% combat with servants having a role length of blink-and-you-miss-it and the rest is boring exposition. Didn't bother finishing.

On this season's menu:
Citrus;
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san;
Overlord II.
For now. Probably Violet Evergarden too when it starts airing tomorrow. Also will continue to watch Mahoutsukai no Yome, so glad it gets 24 episodes.

EDIT: Konohana Kitan was a good watch that hit a very specific spot. Cute fox girls running an inn, beautiful scenery, some funny moments and lots of feels, all sprinkled with a bit of shoujo ai and Japanese myth. I enjoyed it.

Loved shiki, it is wonderfully atmospheric and emotional. And that music. The characters are a strong part of the series, it is interesting to watch how everyone reacts to the circumstances or their understanding of them. Or what happens when the tables turn. Only Megumi annoyed me - to the point I considered dropping it during the first episode - but the series' tone shifted fast enough.

*SPOILERS*

What I also liked was the feeling of the noose getting tighter and tighter, with unease growing into utter hopelessness. The vampires have many advantages but they play smart, they play it safe. They slowly cut off support, cover their tracks and prey on the weak. I loved that predatory streak.

In the end, everyone does what he has to. Newly risen are no less human than they were when they died, only the rules of their life have changed. And human cruelty is no less severe before it's all over. All smiles, a cup of tea and bloody hands. Hell, they kill other humans on the suspicion that they have been turned or are sympathizers. Which is also kind of understandable given that one single vampire could lead to countless deaths in the future.. but really, they were out for blood. The vampires could have avoided fatalities but the moment the humans got wind of it, they'd rise up with fire and pitchforks. But to begin with, they didn't want just to survive. They wanted a place to call home, they wanted freedom. All they had to do was convert all the humans whether they wanted it or not!

Morality aside, what I found more interesting was the reversal of roles and the psychology that came with it. It wasn't even about sides but rather individual choice and every individual had their own to make.

Gave Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon a try after seeing some memes and whatnot. It's not the greatest of anime as some people make it out to be, but it was fun nonetheless. The opening was really catchy and I could appreciate some of the more mature content the anime was trying to pull (however awkward or inappropriate that content might've been), so I guess it was okay.

Meanwhile I watched the three Mardock Scramble movies and they were fun. Art is amazing but it's more of a style over substance kind. Still, there is technology that changes the gravity axis, a transdimentional AI in the form of a golden mouse that is capable of transformation, flying shark guards, human memory chips, a gay dolphin with love advice and other colourful stuff

I also watched when Marnie was here. Beautiful Ghibli film, well worth watching.

Then I started Mirai Nikki on veco's recommendation. Pretty stupid protagonist but the premise is most interesting. Battle royale with the players armed with ever-changing knowledge of the future. No silly powers, just diary notes, smarts and deception. Add a crazy stalker girlfriend in the mix and it gets even crazier ^^

Nanatsu no Taizai or The Seven Deadly Sins is, simply put, hilarious. Both good hilarious and not so good hilarious. Though at the end of the day, there's no deeper meaning to it. A rush of emotions and the thrill of a fight, that's it. Nothing for the mind to think over. I'm still only 9 episodes in, but I guess it'll play out that way until the end.

Reading it? I wouldn't go that far. I was simply recommended to watch the anime, and so I did. Nothing to write home about. If anything, the ending was as lame and cliche as it could possibly get. Seriously, I couldn't think of something worse than a scene where the weakest, most irrelevant character suddenly "awakens" and displays a power that erases any sense of tragedy or loss to the story, all while turning the battlefield into a field of daisies and dancing light. Ridiculous stuff like that kills it for me.

EDIT: That said, I'm still giving season 2 a try. Hopefully it goes somewhere (so far it seems to be going DBZ with the battle power and all).

Anyway, I gave Tsurezure Children a spin and it was unexpectedly good! I really loved the couples and the way the characters interacted. Quite a good watch, comedy and romance on point. Too bad each episode was only 12 minutes long, but I guess that made it convenient to watch in one go. Maybe there's a second season planned, given how they didn't capture all of the manga material (only half of the couples or so, and the action really limited by the format). Enjoyed and recommended.

EDIT: Grisaia no Kajitsu was, all in all, a good anime. Not just your run-of-the-mill harem with nothing besides fan service, it had fairly good stories and character interaction as well. I just hope that the other seasons are at least as good as this one, definitely on my to-watch list.

EDIT: Violet Evergarden is such a beautiful anime. With every new episode I feel more and more amazed by how fantastic it is. Hits me right into the feels. I am grateful for being able to experience it and hope it keeps delivering.

Also caught up with Dragon Ball Super, not really impressed. Also feels different from how it used to be, like there's no tension anymore. Meh.

EDIT: And with Grisaia no Meikyuu and Grisaia no Rakuen I have finished watching the Grisaia series. It felt a bit rushed and the characters left their bounds, but I guess it was alright.

I realized I was only reading Noblesse these days. Awful thing that it seems they changed someone responsible for drawing. The last chapters, this new season per se, is awful-looking, uninspired. Besides that, the story is now as bland as possible, again, fights and fights, and power and power. They always return to the goddamn blood stones. It's really getting past boredom now.

Still waiting for Berserk slow development. As much as like that story, the pace in which the author releases chapters is maddeningly slow, like 1-2 chapters per year.

It's a damn shame, Berserk was one of the best fantasy manga I've ever read. I wonder whether the author has some real life circumstances preventing him to write more, or if he just happens to have lost interest. How does he even get contracts for serialization?

Anyway, going to give Koi wa Ameagari no You ni a try. Read some reviews and they say it's pretty good. The anime is still ongoing so I'll have to catch up, but from the first episode I can say I dig it. Hopefully it doesn't drop the ball down the road.
