Actually, the anime stays pretty faithful to the manga.
Near the end of the anime series

*Not really spoilers, but I feel obliged to tag it anyway*

they skipped the kushan mercenaries and the huge demon to immediately go to the finale, but that's not really necessary for the story or anything, just whizz bang shooty fun. And it immediately goes to the flashback, instead of meandering around in "the present", which makes the behelit a greater mystery and more of a surprise as to how Guts (or gatts, w/e) came in his present situation of demonslayer extraordinaire.

Okay, so guys, I read the entire hellsing manga in two days...
Yeah, I'm pretty sick like that.

Anyway, I just want to add that somehow, in some insane way all my fantasy violence fantasies have been crammed in there, somehow. It has everything you wanted in violence ever. It's perfect. Let's get into the mangaka's mind for a moment: So basically we need the evilest things that ever lived. How about nazis? Sure, why not! What about the undead? Also a good choice... hmmm, why not both?

*spoiler warning* *though, the story is the least important bit of hellsng*

Bam! Basically, this is the entire plot of hellsing: nazi-vampires try to destroy london and Dracula and a busty blonde babe with bazookas mounted on her shoulder try to stop them. Basically, that's all you need and all else is irrelevant. It's 25% build-up (till somewhere around chapter 30) and then it's all pay-off. It embraces all things that can't be shown in a realistic or proper medium and are awesome at the same time, including the catholic church as this monstrous faction that has genetically enhanced, bio-engineered humans at its disposal. I keep repeating this, but it is imperative you understand that the story is not at all important, it's basically the characters continuously fighting.

Hell, yes, London is being blown up and millions of people are being slaughtered and impaled and eaten and blown apart and hell yes there's going to be at least two epic last stand battles and hell yes there's going to be a traitor and hell yes there is going to be epic power struggles between champions of factions that last several chapters and hell yes there's going to be noble sacrifices. Basically, he can take all war clichés and pour it in the moulds of action (both medieval-styled fantasy action as modern-day-styled fantasy action). Hell, it's not the best manga out there and if you want to get your story on, take a hike elsewhere, we don't need your intellectual types around here. If you want to be moved and meet endearing, cool archetypes (I loved every word of the Major and Anderson, every single one) and have blazing action, then yes, hells yes, this is it. All your needs will be satisfied here.

Hirano Kouta is the shakespeare of action and meaningless violence. When you get down to it, you are not allowed to like it, you're not, but the way everything is done so over the top and the tastelesness makes it a piece of art at the same time. You won't find anything like it. This is better than most media that present action, because most action movies STILL barely reach filling half of it with action. Hellsing has like 4% controlled talking and character development, all the other exposition and build up will be done in action, threatening poses or with lots of killing in the background, if possible. Maybe it's just me dazzled by the short time I read it, but I'm impressed and there's nothing more to it.

P.S.: usually, I get all RAAAAAAAAAAGE when catholic are portrayed as bloodthirsty psychopaths, but in a way, catholics are also portrayed in kind of a cool way and the manga is so impossible to take seriously that no one can really take offense. Except werewolves, they can take offense from this manga. I hope no werewolf would ever read it. Also, it's very feminist, especially when you consider it's been written by a hentai artist, because after all in the end, the only two left standing are the female protagonists.

One Piece readers: I bet it'll end with something like the treasure being a mirror, symbolising that they - Luffy's nakama - are the true riches that they've achieved.
Last line: "I'm glad we all made it here together... in One Piece."

I've heard about that manga, but I dismissed it as a comedy manga due to the name.

Looks seriously awesome though.

EDIT: Just started watching episode 1 and damn... I'm not supposed to like english versions! WTF is wrong with me argh!

EDIT2: The comical relief follower-guy pisses me off. I wonder if he's less annoying in the japanese version.

Now watching: Full Metal Panic.

Sosuke is awesome.
Sosuke: *holds up a condom* I'm aware it's a condom, but I can't figure out what possible use it could be to high school students.
Mao: Oh, please. Don't you even try to play innocent, you dirty old man.
Sosuke: I- don't know what you're talking about. I mean, sure, I've used it a couple of times-
Mao: WHOA!
Sosuke: I was on a mission deep in the jungle and I lost everything. Everything but this. You know, they can hold a litre of water, right?

Girl: Seems like a clean, dependable kind of guy.
Sosuke: I'm afraid you've misjudged me. I love to wear absurd and totally impractical garments. What's more, I derive great pleasure from spending time with women for no apparent reason. I'm just that kind of person.

Dagoth and Joonas are certainly bad influence. Under their evil guidance I came to read elfen lied, hellsing and as of recently berserk. Man that art is stunning to look at, simply amazing. Pace of the story seems good but it's kinda funny. Right when it begins it's hard to take seriously - so much lie - yet somehow it works with the whole setting and the feeling it conveys, if you of course suspend your disbelief a bit There is a stark contrast between everything that is wrong in this world and the purity that exists at the same time that somehow appeals to me.

Hilarious moment when Griffith says I want you and Gutts repies are you homo? My first reaction was.. Griffith is a guy..? Both guys are intriguing in their own way but I'm just in the beginning for now. I checked the first episode of the anime but it just.. didn't click with me. The marvelous art is gone and story somehow felt like a poor substitute of the manga, didn't like Gutt's voice(dubbed).. Maybe I'll give it another chance sometime.

And elvin actually got me to elfen lied so it's actually his fault.

Not mine.
