@Stevie

I don't know if you're influenced by the opinions of others but... if it's it's your own opinion then just... wow you nailed it. Exactly my thoughts on the animes you mentioned.

Durarara started dropping the ball halfway through the first season. It was pretty likable but it wasn't like its predecessor, baccano. Now THAT is an amazing series.

[SPOILERS]

Sure, let's give the 3 teens their own personal army and put them at war because they are too stupid to communicate. Also angst, pure concentrated teen angst! At the same time, the actually interesting characters in the story had lesser roles. Still worth watching because it had some awesome moments.

[/SPOILERS]

Dragon prince had a third season out and nobody told me! Those who missed, go watch it Technically not an anime but whatever.

And.. I am halfway though the oldie galactic heroes. At times it gets a little tiresome with the background history and lore but damn it's a captivating series with some outstanding moments.

Elvin, 3 things.
Stop using adblock, switch to Ublock Origin instead. Adblock bowed down to corporate interest.
Stop watching the Fate animes, your zealotry to check out every single damn iteration as soon as it's out is reaching concerning levels. (joking, low-key interested in fact, are they still good?)
And finally, stop making people think you're the **** when it comes to anime. I am definitely not going to watch Maquia because you mentioned it or anything, I already had it planned in advance. Same with Bacano and others.

As for your take on Durarara, those kids played their part well, I wasn't dissatisfied, on the contrary actually. I think their angst and uncertainty, leading opposing factions while still hanging on their friendship, being gullible and following their dreams, all of that is what made them believable and interesting. For the irregular and unreal, well, take your pick. Shizuo with his monster strength, Saika control, a ****ing dullahan, biker gangs, mass killers and stuff, stupid people always meddling somehow, yakuza...... For all the ****show Ikebukuro was, the actions and characters of those 3 high schoolers were navigated fairly well.

That aside, right now my next stop is Psycho-Pass, revisiting this series by watching the recent movies and the season after that. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint, I have high hopes.

Didn't know you were interested Watched it a while ago.

That said on my first try I didn't like the series and dropped it, but went back to it after watching some cool-ass trailers for season 3. The series grew on me, outside some kiddy stuff packed in-between, the series is pretty good, especially the latest season.

Season 4 is supposedly in the making, but no release date yet.

As a standalone story the series is solid (though it is a sequel story-wise). But it's not the grim distopic anime I remember from the first two seasons.

I didn't watch the movie.

@Stevie

I am using Ublock Origin but the mp4player thing got fixed in the meantime. Could not resume galactic heroes for a couple of days

---

I don't know much about recent fate, there was one about Babylonia with caster Gilgamesh ruling the land. I hear it's actually decent but I'm just not invested in the fate grand order storyline. Apocrypha was the last one I enjoyed to a degree, despite its issues.

---

It's not that I did not like Durarara, I finished it after all. But that part was just dripping melodrama.

Sorry, I don't care much for your tone either. I see a good film, I recommend it. Quality must be shared!

Is Gleipnir considered "quality"? I mean, it's ok I guess, but is it that good?

Btw, watched Promare. It definately gives off Gurenn Lagann vibes, is a fun and entertaining. And far out. As Triggers work should be

Watched Re: Zero Frozen Bonds. It was ok. As an OVA it doesn't stray too much from the TV series level of aesthetics. Imo it sheds a bit of light on Emilia and Puck backstories, but it leaves more question then answers. It feels like creators are leaving the answers for the main series (I didn't read the novels so I don't know exactly). On a bright side we can see Puck in all his feline glory if you know what I mean. And what it does good is how it shows what are Emilia's circumstances, for all those SubaruXRem followers. This girl truly needed some love and Subaru delivers

Psycho-Pass 3 was actually great, made me remember why I liked the series in the first place. I can't think of a better anime in the genre, detectives in a sci-fi setting and some interesting psychological moments (though I'd only be glad to hear otherwise, if anyone has any recommendations). This season gets a 9/10 from me and I can't wait to see the next one.

Hmm, might have to return to the series after all.

Watched fire force and while not bad and even fun at times.. it is so shonentarded that my immune system is rejecting it strongly xD I would have dropped at numerous points if a friend had not told me to watch it.

Not sure if I've mentioned katanagatari, was quite likable. Not so much in the beginning but it grew on me and the past few episodes raised the standards in an amazing way. If the name sounds familiar that's because it's by the monogatari author so you can expect lots of dialogue and less action. I love what they did with the story, the visual style and the way the author messes with the viewer's perception.

I you like the genre you might like the recent ID: Invaded. While not as good as Psycho-Pass imo and it doesn't have a dystopia motive, it's still a well executed detective/murder mystery and well-made anime with interesting concept. Criminals (or like in PP, people with "a past") in service of a special police squad use a specialistic machine to get into other criminals "unconsciousness" to crack murder cases. The whole idea behind how they do it from the inside of the mind (or rather a sort of simulation/visualization) is pretty messed up (mild spoiler: they are getting killed over and over again in their minds while picking up the pieces of the murder case puzzle). The cases they crack are also pretty messed up (body mutilation, torture etc). How each case and the mind of a criminal is presented is interesting in its own right. Series is pretty dark and even philosphical at times.

BTW: I know I already told this about Spring season which turned out to be mediocre, but this time I'm certain: Summer 2020 season will rock!

I'll probably end up watching not even half of them. Re:Zero is a given. God of High School... been hearing a lot of good stuff about it, willing to try it. The sports one, Hayku?... maybe it's time to broaden my taste in anime yet again.

And SaO, really? Was it ever good? Wasn't it just a massive disappointment halfway through the series?

But fair enough, it's still better than spring season. At least something to look forward to.

Only the first half of SAO season 1 is really good, and the whole season 3. 2nd half of season 1 is meh, and season 2 is just a filler and build-up for season 3.

(Season 3 is the one when you can say the anime actually got serious and better. You can clearly see the difference in writing, compared to the first seasons)

Edit: Oh, wait, I forgot the movie. But it was a filler too. However, the 1st half of season 2 should be watched before season 3, due to the hole in the plot left by not watching it.

Season 3 will also be 48 episodes long (36 right now, last 12 were postponed for summer).

Tbh, I didn't watch many sport anime. But Haikyuu is so damn good. I wouldn't put it in front of Re Zero, but gotta say the match with Inarizaki shapes up to be one of the best seasons.

Yeah I also raised my eyebrow for this but the video author does not hide he is a fan of the franchise. I on the other hand... the more I watched SAO the worse it got. First season was really good (in game romance was pretty bold, especially in the novels, and there were some epic moments like the fight with Gleam Eyes etc). At that time it was one of my fav animes. But with later seasons the pathos, cliches and authors style of bringing strange fetishes/teenager baits into it became apparent (there's at least one rape scene in each series). Alicization had good opinions, some even called it the best arc in the novels. Boy what a trainwreck it was. Only after it got to the latest episodes things started to get better, but the whole motive with derpy Kirito and his harem is soooo lame.

The harem is so crap, I agree.

But in the end, he literally didn't give a crap about the others, after I read the light novel.

True, there are tons of cliches, but it's relatively enjoyable in the end (especially for fans of sword fights and such). Its script is also not very new, so that's why the rape scene was there and such (confirmed by the author, I remember).

Edit: Yep, it was kinda a mess with Kirito "sleeping" blabla. But I think it was pretty enjoyable (the anime). Plus, the thing with power of friendship blabla (whatever you call it) had a reason there due to the world technically communicating directly with the soul's will (the anime doesn't make that much sense without reading the light novel), being an "extent" of it. Plus, there are also similar concepts in many places outside of shows, dating back to thousands of years ago, but that ain't to be discussed here.

The music was good, tho. Also the concept, but the practice not so much.

First half of Alicization did contain cliches and whatnot crap, but remember, those were the author's first writings, so I'm not too hard on him.

Anyway, I watch anime to detach from the messed-up real life, so I'm not being too much into what they got wrong and stuff (but there are times when I cringe like crap), and just try to enjoy them (SAO got me with the sword thing and the music. The first OP is totally nostalgic for some reason). If I can. There are some I dropped, tho.

SAO was good for first 6 eps and the Yuki arc. Rest ranges from ok to unintentionally hilarious. But Alicization failed to do much better. Convoluted premise, Kirito pulling moves out of previous SAO versions his @ss, attacks powered by the power of friendship/pride/etc(can't get more shonentarded than that) and that lolrandom rape scene. Seriously, that first second hahahah Oh and taking 3 episodes to cut down a tree. Can it get more epic than that?

In general, it takes more than depowering Kirito to make this series decent. If you want good SAO you watch SAO abridged.
