LOL, you really picked the wrong guy for this one. I actually DID watch that with no skipping! Once. Since I was planning to re-watch Haruhi Suzumiya anyway I might as well start now.

I don't know why that matters but I simply won't play your game as far as that goes. I simply detest animes dubbed in anything than japanese. That way it's like straight from the horse's mouth, and it's done by professionals.
And now I finished watching ep. 1 from The Disappearance and I don't feel satisfied at all, so I need to re-watch The Melancholy too. And while I'm at re-watching, I might as well list it somewhere for future "See that, Joonas!" posts. Is anime planet a good site? Can I watch anime and read manga there?

Well, it's not acting high and mighty, it's what I really feel. I tried to listening english dubs (in naruto for example) and the voices and the impression that they convey are very different.
And I do know some words in japanese, not as much as to make sentences but... I could probably learn it if I wanted to

Naturally, american voice acting in cartoons is not exactly stellar. Especially something low quality, mass production like Naruto. And have you seen pokemon? That makes you want to kill yourself.
Disney movies are amazing though. And so are a lot of the Ghiblis. Black Lagoon. Darker than Black....
Not that japanese dubs are any better. They're overacted beyond belief and everyone sounds like a parody character. There's less outright bad quality though.
Best of both worlds, watch Karin with the english dubs, that's brilliant! The actors all act like the japanese and the end result is hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing throughout the series. Especially the Vampire hunter kid, just pure gold.
That's something that would never fit into anything else than comedy but so good a match.

For me the dubbing depends on context: if it's in Japan it's gotta be Japanese but if the location is for example Britain like Hellsing then **** yeah english please.

I'll give Karin a shot then. I'll most probably end up watching it in both japanese and english. Though I'll watch it in english first just to test if what you say is true.

I have not watched ANY Pokemon series, nor Dragon Ball, not even One Piece, or Inuyasha, Death Note, Hajime no Ippo or other big names like those, of which some I probably never even heard of. *turns away in shame* All I can hope is that this won't affect our relationship.
@Ad: I guess that way works too. It's always funny how japanese people pronounce english words.

Not really, all of HC doesn't have a taste in anime so not all of them can have bad taste.
My tastes are universal also, just like I don't like Death Note I don't like the new Sherlock Holmes series for the same reason. It's totally ridiculous how stupid it takes the viewers for. Really, you have to spell it out to people that the person has a wedding ring, the snow?
PS. You like Bleach, it's good that you included yourself in the bad taste or I'd have had to make a sharp sarcastic note about that, now I can just point out the irony ^^

Of course that bad taste exists, but I'd argue that Bleach is not part of that. I myself watched the series three times (now beat that Joonas ) and I'm with the manga at day. It has some inconsistencies as far as the manga goes at least, especially the current arc, with the quincies. But with all that I'd still give it a 4/5.
And Mvass, I think labeling someone else's tastes as bad is not the way to approach things. Foremost I'd like to call them "different", because not everything one doesn't like or doesn't understand is necessarily bad.
Now shake hands as pals and let's watch some more anime, shall we?

Bleach is superb, you just have to approach it with the right mindset. You can't read it thinking it's like Fate/Zero or Steins;Gate or some conventionally good thing. When reading Bleach, you are the canvas and your reactions are the real artwork. For example, if something you don't expect happens and it disappoints you, you first think "How disappointing!" but then you notice yourself being disappointed and think "How artful of Tite Kubo to disappoint me thus!" Or, if you see a silly ability, it's not silly in the way it would be in Naruto or some dumb shounen, it's silly in a precise, calculated way that's designed to get a certain reaction from the reader.
SPOILERS
A good recent example of Bleach's cleverness is the recent Mask de Masculine fight. First, there's Mask de Masculine, a luchador who gets powered up by people supporting him. In any other series, that would be so silly that it either wouldn't fit with the tone of the rest of it, or it would have to be entirely comedy. But in Bleach, it subtly points at things like that and says "See, this is what I want you to think of, but notice how clever it is!" And it's clever indeed, considering that actually getting powered up by people supporting you is the typical MO for heroes, not villains. This is emphasized by Mask calling himself a hero, and Renji calling himself a villain in response (a reference to him originally being a villain). Second, there's the lengths to which Mask goes to win - he destroys his own eardrums to prevent himself from being defeated by a Bankai. I believe this is a subtle reference to how often body parts are destroyed in Bleach, mostly to no consequence - but now the level has been raised by destroying yourself as a combat tactic. Third, it uses "Bleach disappointment" - first, Hisagi is defeated despite being built up as potentially having a Bankai, then the Vizard captains are defeated despite Rose revealing his Bankai for the first time (which subverts the common shounen trope of "new powerups win"), and finally Mask de Masculine is defeated by Renji, who has long been considered a member of Team Jobber.

Clever like this is common in Bleach. But many lack the will or cultural knowledge to appreciate it fully.

Or perhaps you've just read it for so long you've absorbed a whole new subculture?
I admit, I'm the first to admit I won't catch 99% of the references in modern shows. If you make a reference to Lawrence of Arabia or the Hound of Baskerville, sure. A reference to spiderman or star trek? Yeah, probably not. I'm not nearly nerdy enough for that.
I did, however, catch the Metroid reference in the latest D-Fragments chapter.
