I'm sorry but after reading through your spoiler I have to go with a combination of trolling the kids and you being absorbed into a new subculture. I simply do not see the brilliance in it.

I don't see how that would be in any way out of place in any other series. You note yourself that is exactly how 99% of the shounen heroes work. Though it's not their "official" superpower most of the time. There are some, like, Spirit Bomb Goku, for whom it is. There's also the MKR where this concept is openly approached and used. For both sides, the good and the bad guys.

And here the new subculture presents itself in full. You, with your friends(online forum or RL), have your own terms for analysing bleach in particular. So which one of you wrote your doctorate on the analysis of psychology behind the writing of bleach?
Or perhaps all of this seems superficial because I'm not emotionally moved by Naruto, Soul Eater and the like so I don't get this "Oh snap, he made me feel disappointed"- thing.
Edit: I knew it! Commonplace is compounded.

If you don't read it, you won't get it. It's not something that can be appreciated by someone from the outside. You're right about one thing, though - the subculture is an important part of it. Bleach wouldn't be half as fun without it.

My way of reading is blitz through everything in quick succession. It was one afternoon at work when I had nothing to do and I had read all 500+ chapters of naruto. I won't have much time to be part of the subculture. That's more of elvin's area. He is the guy who reads a chapter or two and takes two weeks to dissect and think them through before continuing. I'm more of the forget this world and get immersed in the other.
That and I pretty much just click forward/next as fast as I can during pretty much all shounen battle scenes because I find them utterly boring. KSKM is an exception since I like to see if the author snowed up anywhere. 
I also didn't start reading it when I was twelve so I never had the hype. As far as I've noticed it's not a thing in Finland. Naruto isn't that much either. One Peace seems to be the biggest out of the big four, I think Dragonball is kinda over already. But yeah, I'm 25, don't listen to me, I have no snowing idea what's going on with the boys.

I'm terribru disappointed in you now  . Basically your doing quickies in the anime/manga world. Without analysing anything. Without feeling anything. You're prone to miss a lot of great points like that. I do things differently, mostly on animes, like I watch them in full once and usually end up making predictions. If those predictions are met, then I'm satisfied and know I didn't miss anything. But if they're not, then I re-watch it to see what points did I miss or if the series was maybe inconsistent. There are also episodes which I like to watch frequently because of the philosophy displayed in them, deepness, emotions or fun factor. Take Naruto for example, while I agree that it's not a brilliant anime it still has a lot of great points, one of them being the pursuit of peace in the fights with Pain which I re-watched more than 10 times. And I usually take some time myself to dissect an anime before reviewing it, think it through a bit. I find this approach very satisfactory, I don't miss anything and I get to enjoy the many aspects of an anime or manga in full. Story, settings, characters, ideas, emotions... I want to experience them all in their entirety.

You'd be surprised at all the things I catch. Just ask elvin, he misses way more of megatokyo
I can also pretty well predict generic shows from episode one. That just makes me all the more likely to just skip stuff. Also why I don't watch generic stuff aside from comedies now.
It's hilarious when people complain to me about spoilers when it's all just predictions though(granted they're right more often than not but still). 
But yeah, analysis is not my thing, I like to enjoy the series, not write essays about them.

Elvin's probably living in an anime drama anyway. He's got no time to think on other stuff, his life's probably squeezing the best of him.

Well, no matter how boring things may be in an anime, I never skip, just on principle, I can't afford loosing anything. Because maybe that boredom is key for what's to come, or maybe just an accurate depiction of life.
Remember me on School Days I ended up thanking you after watching it all. Slow paced and somewhat boring at first, great drama an thilling scenes in the last episodes. Though that murder was so predictable  And the feeling I got after actually seeing it, thinking in a sad mood that "this could all have been avoided, if..." Just superb.
And me analysing is just natural and easy, effortless. Actually it's somewhat mandatory for me. I can't be happy about an anime or manga if I don't do it

Watched 'till and including ep. 6 from Melancholy and I'm just all hyped again about it. Yea, I definitely see it with different eyes than 5 years ago. I understand it better, hence I have some objections about some fundamental things which could change the overview on the entire plot. Questions like, are all the people around Haruhi free agents or merely puppets in her game? If she's really a god, where was she before her birth? How come she's not transcending the reality she's creating, but rather living as a subject to it? How can she "make data from nothing" yet not have the data to know that simple fact? BUT - all these things really make the anime interesting, I might even read the novels which continue the story. I don't know if the manga is covered by the anime entirely, I'll take a look at it just to make sure.

There isn't a comprehensive manga about it and those that exist have quite different atmosphere than the series.

Untrue, I blitz through mangas myself. I caught up with berserk in just a short few days when I read it the first time.

That depends actually, sometimes I focus on one series, others I alternate between several. And when it comes to anime I rarely watch more than 4 episodes in one day.

I also have the same Cromartie Highschool page loading in every time I start up the browser for over 6 months now. edit: and also a Log Horizon anime stream page. I don't remember who recommended me that one.I'll get to it eventually though
