Well, the Horror genre is a no-go for me, so in that regards I had my preconceptions. However the human-demons plot enthralled me, as well as the ideological, philosophical and emotional sides. Demons, elves, undead, the only thing missing are angels, it would be just perfect for me then. Not necessarily to heavily interact with the plot, just as a confirmation of that something. It would be miserable for only Earth and Hell to exist but no Heaven. Gutts is tough. He seems a prick at first, but he's actually been forged in pain and suffering. He has to be the way he is to survive. Incredible mental fortitude and physical capabilities. Caska represents the human, we can be brave, we can be strong to a point, but confronted with demonic forces and death, we have no chance. This matches well with my beliefs. Now I'm reading about that dead knight which has to be my favorite character so far in terms of coolness. I suppose he is another struggler that received the brand and fought death for eons, but his body could not keep up and he lost his flesh. He's probably the only beacon of hope, proving that survival is possible, and that fighting back is not in vain. Such an interesting story, resuming.

Yeah Berzerk is awesome. Wish they would do a complete anime instead of stopping when the demons appear.

That would be problematic, if you read the manga you'd realize that the anime is like 5-10% of the story, so much development and evolution.

The Jojo's Bizarre Adventure anime makes me so mad. I don't mind the posing, bulging and twisting man meat and dumb magic martial arts (that's the fun part), but what I really hate is the way that everytime something happens all the onlooking characters start screaming "OH MY GOD! HE IS DOING THE THING THAT EVERYONE JUST SAW HIM DO!" "I SAW IT AS WELL! HE IS USING THE HOKUTOSHINKEN BLOODLINE SEXUAL SUN WAVE TECHNIQUE" and then the narrator joins in and is like "YES, THE HOKUTOSHINKEN SEXUAL RIPPLE MOTION WAVE DOES IN FACT DO THE THING THAT YOU ARE SEEING RIGHT NOW!" It's especially jarring when the characters are standing there with their mouths open instead of, you know, DOING ANYTHING TO HELP OR SOMETHING (Speed Wagon gets away with it though).
You can carry a story with one dimensional characters, but it starts falling apart if too many of the characters are just not that entertaining. I thought that Joseph was a step up from Jonathan for a while, but then I realized that Joseph is really obnoxious. However I must admit that it's better for a character to be obnoxious rather than bland. The only character worth a damn is Dio, but he's kind of a one trick pony considering 50% of his lines consists of "MUDA MUDA MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!" "HINJAKU! HINJAKU!" and "WRYYYYYYYYYYY!"

Sounds like JJBA isn't for you. That over-the-top style is one of the main things I like about it.

I don't think he was complaining about the over the top, more about the repetition and MAKING SURE YOU KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING, NO MATTER WE REPEAT IT TWENTY TIMES ANYWAY part

Because I've been hooked into the consumption of this media since a very impressionable age. It all started with: "OH HEY IT'S LIKE A HOLLYWOOD ACTION MOVIE, BUT WITH BIG EYED CARTOON CHARACTERS! This manga, dayum! I'm getting everything I want from it, fantasy, drama, action, adventure, philosophy, religion, demons and ecchi. And I have Rob and Paul's Heroes music in the background and some other composers from other fantasy games. This is so completely freaking AWESOME!!
Why the hell is there no anime beyond Golden Age?! This is just blasphemy!!

Cause the first chapters of the manga offer a story in themselves, albeit with an insane cliffhanger at the end, but to go beyond that one would have to cover most of that mammoth manga in order for the story to feel complete. Perhaps they're waiting for the manga to finish, which is nowhere in sight.

That's what I've read somewhere too. The manga authors won't give the rights for screening because the manga isn't finished or smth like that. But that's from some guys on another anime forum so it might be just hearsay. But this is still unfair. To witness this pure awesomeness and not make an anime series, while there are just snow animes getting screentime more than they ever should..... I would sacrifice 10, no, 100.. no, ALL of those stupid animes just to see a full Berserk series. Brand them and Sacrifice them, no regrets.

Kentaro Miura will never give the rights away, if it's gonna end up looking like those recent berserk OVA's. Besides, he's basically abandoned berserk and wnet on to make Gigantomakhia.
