Yeah, Fate/Stay night was one of my first animes, being young I was rather sensitive to romance and endings like that, Shirou's happy smile the next day (when walkin to school with Rin) tho legit made me angry, how dumb I was as a kid. ^^'

Finished watching Samurai Champloo, loooooved it, nothing deep, but I loved it all the same, binged through the whole thing in a few days.

-Half way through Durarara atm, idk if I like this set-up, but it's fun, kinda feels like Black Lagoon without Rock or a focus on the Lagoon company (kinda like that ep where it has an overview of the city and all the miscreants in it). Each ep jumps from character(s) to character(s) having a look at their lives and events, which may or may not involve others in the heart of Tokyo.

Edit: Almost 4am finished Durarara, fun, MC is a bit of a pussy, but a truckload of really sweet characters, actually almost every other character is interesting.

Mind if I ask where you guys watch your anime? I looked up some of the shows you talk about but only find some sketchy looking sites that make me wonder just how good my antivirus is.

Forgive me if this exposes the depth of my noobishness when it comes to anime.

I use KissAnime most of the time because of its high video quality (1080p or 720p at the very least), but it requires turning adblock off. I'm also using AnimeFreak for daily releases in both anime but especially manga. If you ever wanna find more information or reviews about any titles you might find, you can read about them at MyAnimeList.

Berserk just started airing, first episode being released today. After watching it I'm left with mixed feelings. It seems odd more than anything.

I gave it a try yesterday too (thinking that perhaps the trailer just wasn't polished enough). Nooooope nope nope nope, everything is CGI, baaaad CGI and it looks awful. I can't see myself enjoying this while looking like that.

It's a shame, really, because the concept looks cool. I'll probably check the manga in the future

Manga is well worth it, dark as hell, just wish Miura went for full dark instead of throwing in a comic relief character to liven up the climate of utter despair. It doesn't ruin it by any stretch tho.

Guts is awesome and there are many nice little references in the intro and the episode. But why 1) is the intro song so lame 2) is the cgi so bad 3) do they use pencil lines for shadows? Just doesn't look right.

PS the music and the clang of the sword connecting were good ^^

Just finished F/SN Infinite Bladeworks and it was good and I loved it, animation top-notch, they almost sold the bladworks route to me, with perfectly execute plot points except for that atrocious ending that brought it right down for me, I mean you don't get any more undecisive or anticlimactic than that lol.

Spoilers:

Seriously tho that ending it's as if Ufotable have a harder time shipping Rin and Shirou than I do , 2 years on and still not in a relationship, meanwhile took Shirou a few days/ a week IIRC to confess his love to Saber (not to mention it's the only real way to break the curse of his future). And that alt ending is just hilarious, you can really tell those Ufotable dudes want to remake Fate/Stay night's Fate route (the original), I mean what other reason would they have for that random alt ending ^^'.

But seriously, idk why they didnt just wholeheartedly ship Shirou and Rin (both their characters were solid, especially compared to the original) the wishy-washedness meant that I didn't get a satisfying ending where the story reaches its natural conclusion. Instead Shirou is still stuck in his eternal loop, which woulda happened even if he shacked up with Rin I guess, but would've been more satisfying, at least in Fate we get a tragic end, but a hopeful future, where he no longer becomes a hero but joins Saber in Avalon (plus unlike in Blade Works Shirou didn't beat an S class servant alone, in Fate the artifact Avalon reacted to its former owner having an unprecedented impact on the fight which blind-sided the King of Heroes who was so impressed that he chose to succumb to the attack). Despite the shortcomings of the source material the anime executed it perfectly though, couldn't ask for more.

Also shame we didn't get to see the hidden connections get uncovered, like Ilyia and Shirou being bro and sis (Loved how Ilyia acknowledged the fact that she was abandoned), Saber being Kiritsugu's servant - the former having been betrayed by the latter, Sakura and Rin etc.

[SPOILERS]

Yes the ending wasn't as good as in the original. It was a pity that saber did not have any parting words and some extra explanations regarding her circumstances would have been nice. But archer got some closure so.. I don't remember exactly but I thought they were together but taking things slowly. The alternative ending is just an adaptation of the sunny days ending of the visual novel I have actually been playing that to shed some light into the characters and both anime have been very faithful to their respective routes. Currently into Heaven's Feel which so far looks a very different storyline from fate and unlimited but always something feels out of reach. In every route there will be characters kiled without explaination of their place in the story or their abilities and the only way you can piece it together is by playing all routes. I suppose it would have been hard to show enough spotlight on every character and add more arcs but it would have made a far more epic storyline. Zero did that much better, by letting you see what most servants/masters were doing and by the end you didn't really feel that someone got shafted. One thing I like about Haven's Feel is that it avoids stupid situations Shiro got into previously(almost as if he'd already finished the game once ^^) and reveals some interesting tidbids of information. Like why saber did not enter the church in the beginning, information of Kiritsugu, what's happened with the Matous, Ilya's motivations etc.

I was certainly annoyed that Shiro grew such a powerhouse in unlimited, he should have died many times over At least we didn't get any stupid plot twists like summon epic sword and swing with saber's help, wtf. But the idea was that he (conveniently)had the means and the endless perseverance to pull through and as such they sold it well. I'm pretty sure Archer lost because he hesitated, he lost his conviction when he remembered how driven he used to be. It should be noted that at the time Archer had 1/10 of his original power even if that was really an excuse. Also, I have come to believe that his appearance at the end was the intervention of the counterforce due to the scale of potential destruction. In zero it was just one city, now it was getting on a more golabl scale ^^ In the novel he is buried under rubble when protecting Shiro from Gilgamesh so you don't see him die but I think that the 2 days of independent action should have run out by his last appearance. A day had already passed before he was challenged by Shiro and the counterforce had already been mentioned so..

Oh and fun fact, the visual novel gets you killed for avoiding the action and taking safe choices ^^

Seemed to me like he gave up, just listen to how he states his defeat; you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

New berserk chapter! Almost there

Currently checking the heaven's feel visual novel, this is pretty messed up. I love the way they have turned everything around, it's a whole different meta On that note I'm glad they decided to do a trilogy, I would hate to see cut content.

After watching episode 2 of Berserk I made up my mind - I actually like its style. If it had the generic visuals and music it might've been less appealing, but with this unconventional touch it has the extra edge to be either ridiculous or next level. For now, it seems somewhat artistic in the atmosphere that it conveys.

Holy snow the latests episode of re:Zero was DARK. The studio (White Fox) certainly isn't holding back at showing violence, blood and torture.

I'm absolutely loving the direction this show has taken for its third act, the more I watch the more I'm eager to get the novel in my hands

Haha, I ****in love it, now this is what happens when a weak MC chalks up traumatic events, he doesn't suddenly power up and overcome all powerful, he gets torn to pieces then has to rebuild himself slightly stronger each time, and everytime losing bit of himself. The closest equivalent I've seen was Parasyte, but there the transition was more passive.

Sure the MC breaking down every episode into a state of severe depression might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I myself love it (annoys me slightly but it's consistent and very well done). That last ep tho nailed it too, Subaru wants to go insane so he doesn't have to deal with it, but at the end those eyes were friggin brilliant.

They handled that part well but I didn't like much the way they edited the story. The next episode is probably a flashback and I'm guessing they didn't want the dog guy cluttering it. Also I love Serpico
